Cameron Diaz als Natalie Cook, Drew Barrymore (u.a.

Minka Kelly and Rachael Taylor are close to putting on angel wings. The Friday Night Lights alumna and the Transformers babe are in negotiations for the remaining two Angel spots in ABC's Charlie's Angels pilot. They would join previously cast Annie Ilonzeh to form the new trio of sexy female sleuths - Kelly, whose character will be renamed, Ilonzeh's Kate and Taylor's Abby.
Producing studio Sony Pictures TV and Drew Barrymore's Flower Films went through an exhaustive search for the 3 leads in the Charlie's Angels series reboot. Kelly was a name the producers kept coming back to and they are now reworking the role to tailor it to her. In the current breakdown, the character, previously named Marisa, is described as a former U.S. Marine, a weapons expert trained in all forms of hand-to-head combat and a neat freak.
Taylor's Abby is the youngest and sassiest of the Angels, the beautiful and privileged daughter of a notorious Wall Street crook who is an expert con artist herself as well as a Krav Maga expert. [...]
It’s on: Charlie’s Angels just got officially greenlit as a pilot at ABC.
This move has been long expected, but now the project is firmly moving forward, along with Smallville writer-producers Miles Millar and Al Gough. The new modern-day version of the show will be set in Miami.
The producers (Leonard Goldberg, Drew Barrymore, Nancy Juvonen), Sony Pictures TV and Flower Films will now dive into casting to figure out the tricky task of finding TV’s new Angels. We hear there’s an offer out to Mark Piznarski (Gossip Girl) to direct.
Remakes have traditionally struggled to find viewers on broadcast, though CBS’ showed with Hawaii Five-0 that you can pull off a primetime hit with a classic title. And Angels is certainly on-brand for a network that has a strong female following with shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives. [...]
ABC's plan to reboot "Charlie's Angels" is getting a lift from a superpowered writing team.
Former " Smallville" executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are taking over scripting duties on the Sony Pictures Television project, which the network is developing for a potential pilot order and midseason launch.
The duo, whose theatrical credits include "Shanghai Noon" and " The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor," will replace Josh Friedman, who initially was hired to adapt the project. Gough and Millar launched "Smallville" and ran it for seven seasons before exiting the show in 2008.
The rest of the "Angels" team remains unchanged, which includes the producers of the two "Charlie's Angels" movies: Drew Barrymore, Leonard Goldberg and Nancy Juvonen. Goldberg exec produced the original 1976-81 series.
"Angels" is one of three few disco-era remakes this development season: CBS' "Hawaii Five-O" made the network's fall schedule, but NBC's "The Rockford Files" struck out.
CS! zitiert McG...
[...] As far as the potential for a Charlie's Angels 3, something suggested last week by the original movie's co-producer Drew Barrymore as being in development, McG responded that it would be up to Amy Pascal (although it would seem that McG probably has a lot on his plate between reviving the "Terminator" franchise and the potential for developing a movie based on 20 Leagues Under the Sea for Disney.) [...]
Drew Barrymore told E! Online that she's ready to play Dylan Sanders again in a third installment of the "Charlie's Angels" franchise:
"I'm so into it," Barrymore said while promoting her new star-filled romantic comedy, He's Just Not That Into You. "I'm so into it... Charlie's Angels III!"
"It's percolating up," said Nancy Juvonen, Barrymore's Flower Films producing partner. "It's rising to the surface."
Barrymore added, "They're hard movies to make, but they're fun."
The first two films, directed by McG (Terminator Salvation), co-starred Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu. They took in over $523 million at the worldwide box office.
The report goes on to say that "ideas are being kicked around, including the possible introduction of a fourth Angel." After having Demi Moore play the villainess in the second film, the third movie is expected to have another guy as the baddie.
Is Cameron Diaz returning to the "Charlie's Angels" franchise? If she is, she doesn't know anything about it.
Last year, word from McG was he wanted to get back Cameron, Lucy Liu, and Drew Barrymore for a third "Angels" movie. Well, you can ask anyone and the answer to that is "Hell Yeah!"
While promoting her other threequel, Shrek the Third, Cameron told ComingSoon.net she'd love to return, but hadn't heard about the reunion. "Not that I know of. I've got to call him up and see what's going on. I haven't spoken to anyone about that yet."
[...] Although the Charlie's Angels series may go on, McG says that he will not be involved outside of possibly producing. "Maybe, I don't know, not for me; maybe Drew (Barrymore) and I would produce it. It would be three different girls, with a different director, that's what I say."

Drew Barrymore recently spoke about the possibility of a third Charlie's Angels movie to iF Magazine - "I know that we'd all sign up for it if there was one, but there are no plans in the works. We all three do still hangout all the time anyway and so we might as well just be filming it and doing something."
Demi Moore made a bit of a comeback this summer as the villainess of "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle", but with the film fading from memory and the tabloid craze over her relationship with Ashton Kutcher dying down, the star is trying to hold onto that refound success as much as she can according to the latest issue of People magazine:
"Demi is looking at starring in another "Charlie's Angels" film. In fact, she's looking at headlining it, producing it and calling the shots on all future instalments of the hit film series.
Having reportedly impressed the pants off studio execs - at Sony - with her performance as angel gone bad Madison Lee in the most recent sequel, Moore is whispered to be in talks with the studio about reprising the character for a third film. If she does, don't expect the others to return.
Moore is said to be in talks with both the studio and Barrymore about furthering the "Charlies Angels" series at her own production company, Moving Pictures. The actress has suggested that the next film focus largely on Madison Lee pre-Full Throttle, when she was the Angel's no.1 hot shot agent - "Demi has plans to do two or three films based on the Madison Lee character, that would be set in the early 80's. From the sounds of it, the other girls aren't invited. From the sounds of it, she might just get her wish".

Bei AICN gibt es eine Kritik von Harry Knowles...
[...] I won’t claim this is the greatest story ever told, but dammit it gets me hard, and I know YOU don’t want to know that, but that’s why I love the film. I love it because it is a fetish film. Because it is about joy. Because it has the Spider-Man panties in a guest spot again. Because a film doesn’t have to make sense. Because nonsense is sometimes wonderful. Because I love cartoon logic. Because this movie makes me happy through and through. [...]

Producer Leonard Goldberg recently told columnist Cindy Perlman that "All the networks want to do a new ANGELS TV series. ABC won the rights for a first option, but I have all the networks calling me every other week. There is no reason to do a live-action TV series when we have a film franchise right now. We have talked about a Saturday morning animated series".
[23.06.2003] Die Calgary Sun sprach mit den Engeln...
[...] For both Liu and Barrymore, the welding scene got a bit too hot.
"There were these sparks and cinders. Drew didn't realize she was sitting on a cinder
and it burned her butt," recalls Liu, whose scarf went up in flames.
"I was eating a peanut butter sandwich and I felt some heat, but didn't realize what was happening until my handkerchief burst into flame.
"They got it all on film, of course, so for the rest of the shoot, whenever the crew needed a good laugh, they'd rerun that video. They loved it so much they insisted on putting it in the end credits of the movie." [...]
There are no plans for a second sequel, but that may change come June 30 after Columbia executives ponder the box-office of Full Throttle's opening weekend.
As producer, Barrymore knows "if audiences tell us they really, really want a third one, of course, we'll all start talking again."

[...] "In the case of Charlie's Angels, the first one was such chaos, I walked away going, 'Man, that's gonna make Ishtar look like E.T.,' and it turned out to be fun to watch."
In Angels 2, he returns as Cameron Diaz's hapless boyfriend. "She and I move in together, and Drew (Barrymore)'s character thinks we're getting married and she's worried she's going to lose an Angel." [...]
[19.06.2003] Bei AICN gibt es eine Kritik von Mr. Beaks... Und DH meldet...
Would the trio of girls do a third film? Two of them responded to the question recently during interviews in Los Angeles for 'Full Throttle'. First up Miss Barrymore - "We don't know yet because we just worked so hard to make the first one. We all love being together so much though that we're together anyway, so work or play, either or is good for us. I think right now, we want to see how people react to this one". Miss Liu is equally non-commital - "We also discovered yesterday or last week that this is the first sequel for all of us. That's kind of a cool thing because we got to experience that for the first time. If we get the opportunity to work together again on something else, that would be fun too".
