[22.06.2004] Bei AICN gibt es Kritiken zum Sequel...
[...] I enjoyed the hell out of this movie: it's got plenty of great laughs, the acting is excellent all around (especially Hugh Grant and Colin Firth), and the romantic stuff is done fairly well for the most part. However, the filmmakers are definitely going for more broad comedy and less introspection this time around: on the whole, the movie feels a little slight. Still, anyone who sees this should have a good time (regardless of whether or not they've seen the first film), and these days that's more than most comedies can offer. [...]

[27.03.2004] Bei AICN gibt es einen Bericht über die ShoWest 2004...
[...] They showed extended scenes from the new Bridget Jones movie. Same characters. If you liked the first one, you'll like this one. There is another classic fight scene between Hugh Grant and the boyfriend (can't remember the actor's name), looks to be as funny as the last one. In this movie, Bridget and boyfriend have a falling out, she travels with Hugh Grant, trouble ensues, boyfriend bails her out, she is caught between boyfriend and Hugh Grant etc. Hugh Grant does play a self-absorbed prig perfectly. [...]

[13.10.2003] Femail.co.uk meldet...
[...] As she started shooting the new Bridget Jones movie, for which she has piled on the pounds, her first scene called for her to don a skintight orange and yellow parachute jumpsuit which amply emphasised her fuller figure ... particularly in the nether regions.
But the 34-year-old actress seemed happy enough, perhaps because she has at last got down to work after three months of high-calorie eating to gain weight for reprising her role of the unlucky-in-love singleton - and because her salary will be an equally hefty £15 million.
Miss Zellweger went from a size eight to a size 14 for the new film, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, after having fattened up for the first movie and then slimmed down again.
The parachuting scene - in which she was hauled up by a crane - was being filmed at an RAF base in Buckinghamshire.

[27.06.2003] IMDb.com meldet...
The producers of the Bridget Jones's Diary sequel have turned to John Travolta to provide the romance after George Clooney was vetoed by lead star Renee Zellweger. The Chicago actress told producers their first choice of Clooney to take over from Colin Firth as the love interest was unsuitable because of a previous relationship between the pair. However, the undeterred producers have now approached Pulp Fiction star Travolta to star in the adaptation of Helen Fielding's follow-up novel Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason.

[20.06.2003] Blickpunkt:Film meldet...

[08.02.2003] BBC News meldet...
Renee Zellweger has dismissed reports that she has agreed to star in the sequel to the hit movie Bridget Jones's Diary.
Speaking at the start of the Berlin Film Festival on Thursday, the actress added that neither she, nor her co-star Hugh Grant, knew anything about plans for a second film. [...] Zellweger said in Berlin that there was "nothing to commit to" when it came to another Bridget Jones film.
"Neither of us has seen scripts, neither of us has a start date and neither of us has committed because there is nothing to commit to," Zellweger said.
"I don't know what is going to happen. None of us knows anything about it."
Despite the uncertainty over another Bridget Jones film, Zellweger said she would enjoy taking up the role again.
"I would love to do it if it's right," she said. "Bridget is a character I care a lot about. [...]

[18.01.2003] IMDb meldet...
After months of speculation, Hollywood star Renee Zellweger has finally agreed to appear in a sequel to 2001 hit movie Bridget Jones's Diary - even if it means she must put on weight. Plans for a second installment were scuppered last year when the slim star insisted "There is no way I'm going to put all that weight on again. I hated it." But it seems her on screen love interest, British actor Colin Firth, has persuaded her to reprise her role as the frustrated singleton. Renee says, "I'm ready, willing and able. Bridget's a character I really identify with. I'll put the weight back on with pleasure." And on Firth's influence, she adds, "To work with Colin again would be fantastic." The actress may not have to bulk up quite so much as she did in the first movie. Writer Andrew Davies explains fans will see a more streamlined Bridget in the follow up. He says, "This time the script doesn't require her to bulk up all that much. The plot involves her doing time in a Thai jail, which means she actually has to lose weight."

[13.12.2002] DH meldet...
Zellweger hasn't turned away reprising the struggling UK single girl just yet. While appearing on "The Frank Skinner Show" on ITV in England to promote Chicago, Zellwegger & Richard Gere were both asked about sequels to their most popular movies. 'John' was watching and wrote down the details: "Richard responded and said they did make a sequel to Pretty Woman which was Runaway Bride, and that should settle any rumours about further sequels. Renee however said that she would love to do one, there is ongoing talks on the subject and so long as it was "beautiful" enough and they were given enough time to allow Helen's vision for the character's development to come out, she would love do another one. Frank then said "so we won't see one will we?", she replied, "I wouldn't be surprised if you did".

[17.10.2002] Ananova meldet...
Renee Zellweger is reportedly refusing to gain weight for the sequel to Bridget Jones's Diary. The actress put on a stone-and-a-half to play the Chardonnay-swigging character in the first film. But writer Andrew Davies says he has agreed to a leaner Bridget for Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. He told Heat magazine: "This time she ends up in a Thai jail so she has to actually lose weight."

[21.09.2002] Yahoo! UK meldet...
George Clooney is lined up for a part in the next Bridget Jones film. He will star opposite Renee Zellweger in Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. The plans were revealed by writer Andrew Davies who is working on the script for the sequel to Bridget Jones's Diary. In Helen Fielding's book, Bridget is sent to interview actor Colin Firth - a man she has lusted after ever since his appearance in Pride and Prejudice. But Firth played Bridget's boyfriend Mark Darcy in the first film and is set to reprise his role in the sequel - leaving scriptwriters with a problem. The solution was to find another heart-throb actor to play the object of Bridget's desire and Clooney is the ideal choice. Davies said: "We're hoping to substitute George Clooney for Colin Firth because we want Colin to play Darcy again. I've written four drafts and the latest version is with Renee Zellweger. We are just waiting for her reaction." [...]
