Marin Cheech (u.a. "Once Upon a Time in Mexico", "Spy Kids", "Pinocchio") und Tommy Chong (u.a. "Kapitän Dotterbart - Monty Python auf hoher See") wollten noch einen weiteren gemeinsamen C&C-Film drehen, aber ob dieser jemals gedreht wird, ist zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt mehr als fraglich...

[13.11.2008] CS! sprach mit Marin Cheech...
The Weinstein Company (TWC) have partnered with Cheech Marin, Tommy Chong, and their managers Ben Feigin and Josh Klein to produce a concert movie to memorialize the comic duo's reunion and first tour together in 25 years. The announcement was made today by Barry Gordon, executive vice president of home entertainment at TWC.
As part of the arrangement, TWC has worldwide theatrical, home video, digital and television rights. The feature-length program, which will portray a live concert experience of the "Cheech & Chong: Light Up America" tour, is expected to make a major TV premiere, followed by the DVD release. TWC International will handle foreign sales beginning at AFM this week.
"'The Cheech and Chong Concert Movie' will be an historic, must-experience event for the many fans that grew up listening to their recordings and watching their movies," said Barry Gordon, EVP of Home Entertainment at TWC. "For the millions of new fans who have discovered Cheech and Chong over the years as cultural icons, this will be the first time many of them will be able to enjoy the artistry and one-of-kind magic that is Cheech and Chong live on stage. This is the comedy event of the decade."
"It's great to get a chance to cap a long career with a show of where we are now," said Marin.
Chong stated, "I really like Harvey because he picked up my dinner tab."
Start of production and official release dates are to be announced.
Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong's phenomenal success began on the stand-up comedy circuit and led to eight hit films and nine comedy albums, which garnered multiple Grammy nominations. The "Cheech & Chong: Light Up America" reunion tour officially kicked off on September 26, 2008 and has been selling out across the country. Many of the dates have needed to add multiple shows each night to meet demand. The tour will continue through 2009, and will bring the duo overseas to multiple continents.

[24.08.2005] CS! sprach mit Marin Cheech...
[...] At one point, there was talk of Cheech reuniting with his comedy partner Tommy Chong for another movie, so we asked Marin how he felt about this possibility. "We were almost there, but you know, it's problematic," Marin sighed, saying that it was like being married and being asked to get back with your ex-wife. "I'm not above doing it for the money, believe me," he laughed. "I've gone through enough divorces, but I have a real reverence for the legacy of Cheech and Chong. I really do. They're on all the time. People grew up with them, and I don't want to do something at this point that is really going detract from that legacy unless it's good. Unless I'm into it and I really think we can pull it off, then I wouldn't do it. That's why I've resisted doing it for all these years. I'm much more comfortable with just letting it lay where it is. There may be something we may do but I don't know." He said that there has also been talk about doing a musical version of Up in Smoke but nothing's set in stone yet. [...]

Comedy duo Cheech and Chong announced at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, Colorado that they are in the final stages of writing a script for a new movie, which they hope to start production sooner rather than later.
"We are working on a new movie now," Cheech Marin said. "We are nearly done with the script." Both said they would like to see the film out this year, maybe even during the summer if work progresses fast.
The film doesn't have a title yet, but Marin tossed out some possible titles: "The Lord of the Smoke Rings" and "The Passion of the Cheech and Chong." He promises "classic Cheech and Chong characters in their adventures."

[13.09.2003] CS! meldet...
The start date for New Line Cinema's new Cheech & Chong movie has gone up in smoke with Tommy Chong facing a nine-month jail sentence for selling bongs.
But the studio plans to continue development on the new feature, based on the pot-smoking personas that Cheech Marin, 57, and Chong, 65, developed during a 16-year comedy partnership. The studio's original plan had the film shooting next year, during Marin's hiatus from his Fox Network series The Ortegas.
Marin and Chong are expected to write the script for their untitled film with a third writer. Chong's daughter Robbi Chong is a producer on the project.

Think the Cheech & Chong film franchise ended with 1984's "Cheech & Chong's The Corsican Brothers"? Think again. The comedy duo is reuniting after 20 years for a new feature set up at New Line Cinema that will catch up with Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong's wacky stoner personas in the present day. The untitled project is in the early stages of development at New Line. Marin and Chong have already worked out a story line and will pen the script along with an additional writer to be recruited by New Line. Robbi Chong, one of Chong's daughters, will serve as a producer on the project. "The world is ripe and ready for a new Cheech & Chong movie, especially considering they have a whole new generation of fans out there," said New Line senior vp production Kent Alterman, who is overseeing the project alongside New Line production president Toby Emmerich. "They came in and told us that they're ready to do something again, which we think is a great idea."

[09.02.2003] Bei AICN gibt es eine weitere Meldung zu "C&C: Reunion"... Die Dreharbeiten sollen im Mai 2003 beginnen...

[01.02.2003] E! Online zitiert Rae Dawn Chong...
[...] "A script idea came together--with a beginning, middle and end--from the drive up to Vancouver that was socially relevant and funny, so I wrote it," recalls Rae Dawn Chong, who appeared in the comic duo's last movie, 1984's swashbuckling spoof Cheech & Chong's The Corsican Brothers.
"I think that my script, if it gets used, would be great. But if it doesn't, I think it inspired them," says the actress. [...]

Variety reports that Rae Dawn Chong is determined that her father, Tommy Chong, and his longtime comic partner Cheech Marin reunite in a new movie franchise.
She has scripted Cheech and Chong Get Blunt, and she and sister Robbi have gotten a commitment from the famed stoners to topline. She's now shopping for distribution.
The premise finds the duo serving community service as anti-drug preachers in a boy's home. "It's not a big budget, and both guys are sharper than ever, because they've both become health and workout nuts," said Chong.

[...] I listen to 104.1 FM here in Daytona Beach to a show called the Monsters of the midday and Tommy Chong Called as a "Mystery Christmas Caroler". He spoke of this movie..but the real gem of news is that he said that he is reteaming with Cheech to make another set of Cheech and Chong movies! He said the deal's set and their in pre production already. His daughter (Rae Dawn) was responsible for the "Reunion. [...]

[22.11.2002] E! Online meldet...
Last night on radio's syndicated show Loveline with Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew, guest Tommy Chong revealed he's in final negotiations to bring a Cheech & Chong reunion movie to the big screen as early as next year. That sounds about right. You don't want do a reunion movie too soon, and 2003 will mark 25 years.
Initially, he says, his costar and pal Cheech Marin balked at the idea, because there wasn't as much money in it for him as he wanted. That's no longer an issue. Not only does Tommy say there's big money, his daughter Rae Dawn Chong wrote a worthy script and, he promises, Cheech & Chong will pick up their peace pipes where the fun left off in Up in Smoke.
