"Final Destination")... Die Rolle des Goku spielt Justin Chatwin ("Krieg der Welten") und Bösewicht Piccolo wird von James Marsters (u.a. "Buffy") verkörpert... Jamie Chung (u.a. "Samurai Girl") spielt Chi Chi und Chow Yun Fat (u.a. "Tiger & Dragon") den Meister Roshi... "Dragonball Evolution" startete - nach einer Terminverschiebung - am 11. Juni 2009 in den deutschen Kinos...

[...] The film isn't bad. Just not great.
Suited for kids and curious fans.
I guess a lot of stuff was cut from this film. There are scenes in earlier Trailers that aren't in this and gone is the grey looking Piccolo, now he is only green. [...]

[...] To create characters with a different look from the original manga comic book but yet stay true to the spirit of it has been very complicated.
Even though there was a basis for the production design it was still very complicated because you had to redesign something that existed to come up with what we have in the film.

[28.10.2008] Bei AICN gibt es eine Kritik zum Film...
[...] I would give the movie a 6.5/10 simply because i was expecting disaster but it turned out better. The positives I mentioned coupled with some cool funny goku moments like eating a massive turkey etc. were hilarious. If only Master Roshi was perverted and Shenron was visible I would have given this 9 but ah well they messed up there. Hopefully they will fix shenron as they still have 5 months to movie's release [...]

[22.09.2008] MTV plauderte mit Emmy Rossum aka Bulma...
[...] Rossum also hinted at a few aspects of the film that should have fans guessing, telling MTV News that she’s "seen some wax molds" for potential action figures, and cautiously acknowledged that a video game based on the film was "a possibility."
Possibly the most interesting tease she offered up was her anticipation of not only seeing "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" alum James Marsters appear on screen in his role as Lord Piccolo, but also "an incredible monster that I can’t talk about that is very, very tall."
"It’s actually a very tall man - an 8-foot man," she added. "It’s based on something else from the... You know, I can’t really say anything else."
Motorcycle incidents and catsuits aside, Rossum said she’d be up for a return to the role in a "Dragonball" sequel, and vehemently denied rumors that the project was in danger of being cancelled or otherwise shut down.
"Oh, no. I really doubt that’s possible," said Rossum. "That’s not going to happen."

[...] I’ve been so busy in Mexico finishing up Dragonball but we just wrapped yesterday so I JUST got home and this is my first opportunity in front of my computer to write to you. It’s been nuts for about a month and a half working nights (on a schedule of about 5pm-8am) outside, but our spirits have been high and it was such a blast. I’ve missed writing to you but I’ve been exhausted after coming home from work early in the morning. I’m finally home (at least for a few weeks) and it’s a mixture of happy and sad. Wrapping a movie is kind of like the end of school, you miss all your friends that you’ve bonded with so much but you are eager for a little rest and a break from all the hard work. [...]

[...] Sorry I've been rather quiet for a bit, I've been working on a very exciting new film that I'm shooting outside the US. I'm working with the great Chow Yun Fat and I'm very excited about the role, which is so different than any role I've ever played. I love the character and I'm excited to get to share something so fun with you. In prep for the film I've been training very hard, learning how to fight, fire a gun, weapons training and even some martial arts. It's fun to play such a different character when I am such a pacifist in real life. [...]

[20.12.2007] Hollywoodreporter.com meldet...
Chow Yun-Fat is the latest to join 20th Century Fox's live-action adaptation of "Dragonball."
Chow will play Master Roshi. [...]
The film, directed by James Wong, follows Goku (Chatwin), a warrior alien who protects the Earth from an endless stream of rogues bent on dominating the universe and controlling mystical objects known as Dragon Balls. Stephen Chow is producing.
Master Roshi is Goku's mentor, helping him achieve the highest state of fighting and spiritual powers.

Twentieth Century Fox is bringing the Japanese manga phenomenon "Dragonball" to the bigscreen. Justin Chatwin will star as Goku, a powerful warrior who protects the Earth from an endless stream of rogues bent on dominating the universe and controlling the mystical objects from which the film takes its name. James Marsters is onboard as the film's villain Piccolo.
Actor-director-writer Stephen Chow ("Kung Fu Hustle") is producing. "Final Destination" helmer James Wong will direct from a script he penned. Ben Ramsey wrote an earlier draft.
Story is based on Akira Toriyama's popular manga that has spawned graphic novels, a long-running TV series and more than 25 videogames, which have sold more than 10 million units since May 2002. The Jump Comics division of Tokyo-based Shueisha published the "Dragonball" manga.
With shooting scheduled to begin later this month, Fox will bow the sci-fi/adventure worldwide Aug. 15. Chatwin has already begun training with 87Eleven, the stunt performance company behind the action sequences in "The Matrix," "The Bourne Supremacy," "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and "300."
Chatwin's credits include Steven Spielberg's "War of the Worlds."
Marsters is best known for his role as the evil vampire Spike on "Buffy" and "Angel."
Wong was an executive producer-writer on "The X-Files," "Millennium" and "Space: Above and Beyond." He co-wrote and directed "Final Destination" and "Final Destination 3."
