SHH! berichtet über das F4-Reboot...
Earlier this month, Variety reported that 20th Century Fox was eyeing Chronicle director Josh Trank to take on the Fantastic Four reboot. SuperHeroHype got a chance today to talk to Trank, who told us that's news to him, however.
"I know as much as you guys know. I'm totally serious. I know as much as you," he said. "I saw that leak online and I was like, 'Um, okay, I'm trying to finish Chronicle right now.' This is weird. There's nothing to say, 'Chronicle' is exactly the kind of superhero movie that I wanted to make and, going forward, I want to have some original ideas and different things I'm working on."
So there's still the possibility that the studio might be interested in having him on board, but they haven't communicated that to him if so, obviously.
CS! berichtet über das F4-Reboot...
It's been some time since it was first announced that 20th Century Fox is planning a reboot of the Fantastic Four film franchise. Today, Variety has an update with word that the studio is eyeing Josh Trank as a potential helmer.
Trank makes his big screen directorial debut with Chronicle on February 3rd and, with it, already has a connection to both the studio and the superhero genre. [...]
Trank's involvement in the reboot is likely contingent on Chronicle's box office performance and a decision is not expected to be reached until next month at the earliest.
Variety.com berichtet über das F4-Reboot...
While Disney lays down a $4 billion bet on the future of Marvel's superheroes, 20th Century Fox has already begun overhauling one of its big Marvel franchises, "Fantastic Four," to take the property beyond the two films already made.
Akiva Goldsman has been hired to oversee the reboot as producer. Michael Green, the co-exec producer of TV's "Heroes" who co-wrote "Green Lantern," will write the script for the new "Fantastic Four."
Fox wouldn't comment on its plans, but the moves are evidence that Marvel franchises do have enduring lifespans. [...]
The 2005 "Fantastic Four" and 2007 sequel "Rise of the Silver Surfer" were directed by Tim Story and starred Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and Michael Chiklis. Since the deals for the reboot are just getting made, it is unclear if any of them will return.
Though Marvel Entertainment owns and finances properties like "Iron Man" and "Thor," Fox controls "Fantastic Four" in perpetuity -- as long as it continues making the films. Fox has the same arrangement on Marvel Comics properties "X-Men," "Daredevil" and "Silver Surfer." Marvel is a producer and financial participant through a licensing agreement.
Though the related Silver Surfer character soared in the "Fantastic Four" sequel, that iconic personality has remained a priority project for his own film at the studio. [...]
Bei AICN gibt es folgende Insider-Meldung...
[...] Fox is serious about doing remakes of Daredvil and FF. They have to make new movies with these characters every few years because otherwise the options will revert to us. This point is kinda obvious but Im not sure people realise it - I havent seen anybody pointing it out anywhere. The mood around here is pretty negative about Rothman’s potential to execute these properties properly, (Im sure you know why it might be particularly negative at the moment) but we are all hoping his recent promotion will mean hes kept away from direct control of these movies. MTV weiss mehr über den möglichen 3. Teil...
For those of you out there holding out hope for a third installment of "Fantastic Four," by now you’ve gotta slowly be coming to grips with the fact that the prospects look pretty bleak these days. Considering the comments made by director Alex Proyas about his frosty relationship with Fox, "Fantastic Four" actor Chris Evans basically saying that "Fantastic Four 3" would likely not happen, and given that Marvel’s rumored future lineup of films doesn’t mention anything about a new installment to the franchise, it ain’t looking too promising, Fantastic Fans.
Now, it appears as though another one of Evans’ "Fantastic Four" co-stars is throwing doubt to the wind about a third film. MTV News caught up with Michael Chiklis (who starred as the ever-lovin’ Thing in both films) and asked him if he’d heard anything about possibly reprising his role, to which the actor responded, "No one’s really given it the kibosh to me, but the silence has been deafening. The fact that no one’s mentioned it or asked a question says that, more than likely, that’s not going to happen. I know that both of them were tremendously successful from a box office standpoint, but we’ve all moved on into other areas and other films."
But while all this leads one to believe that a new "Fantastic Four" film is D.O.A., Chiklis does offer up one small ray of hope to outrageously optimistic fans. "I wouldn’t go with Chris and put a port-mortem on it because you just never know," said Chiklis. "As long as a company has your signature in place and they have a right of first refusal, that right may be exercised."
Der TV-Sender Pro7 zeigt heute um 20.15 Uhr "Fantastic Four" als deutsche Free-TV-Premiere...
CS! sprach mit Jessica Alba...
CS/SHH!: [...] How long until we get "Fantastic Four 3"?
Alba: I have no idea. I know the writers strike and the impending actors strike has kind of put a wrench in everything production wise. That film takes a lot of prep, a good six months of prep and about six months to shoot. With the strike, I think, maybe it's put on hold. [...]
CS/SHH!: In the "Fantastic Four" comics your character becomes a mother. Would you like to see that in the film?
Alba: Little Franklin? Yeah, I think that would be hilarious. He's so powerful, I think that would be a really interesting dynamic a mother-child dynamic. She's still a superhero but she's super protective and he's wild, he can do anything and has no sense of what's appropriate, that would be really fun.
IESB sprach mit Doug "Silver Surfer" Jones über ein mögliches Sequel / Spin-Of...
Doug Jones: [...] I know as much as you do about that. I wish I knew more. I suppose they have a writer hired, who's been talking about it at Comic-Con? So that's how I heard about him. So, as far as the timing goes, I don't know. As far as whether they're going to come back for me again, I'm contracted for two more, whether they exercise that contract is up to them. I would like to... I would like to...
Q: Even with someone else’s voice?
DJ: I would like that to change. (laughter) [...]

DasManifest.com liefert eine Kritik zum Sequel...
[...] the next "Four" movie will again be dependent on who they can "team the Fantastic Four up with" - speaking, of course, in relation to the Silver Surfer’s presence in the latest movie. "That worked, so don’t expect to see a solo effort". [...]

CS! berichtet über die US-Einspielergebnisse...
ShowBIZ Data has box office estimates for Friday, and it looks like Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer will score an easy #1 this weekend with its $22.7 million estimated gross for Friday (including Thursday midnight screenings). This is $1.5 million greater than the opening of Fantastic Four two years ago, though with its PG rating, it might be slightly more kidcentric and possibly not as frontloaded. Still, one can expect an opening in the range of the first movie's $56 million, give or take a million. [...]

Bei CS! berichtet über ein mögliches "Silver Surfer" Spin-Off...
The Los Angeles Times has published some interesting, yet unconfirmed bits about a spinoff Silver Surfer movie and the upcoming Thor adaptation:
Feeling bullish on the eve of the release of its "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," Fox has already put a feature spinoff into development that will star the enigmatic Surfer, with J. Michael Straczynski currently crafting the screenplay.
A longtime writer of television science fiction on "The Twilight Zone" and "Babylon 5," Straczynski has also spent much of the last few years writing for Marvel Comics on properties like "Amazing Spider-Man" and "Thor" (also in development with a Mark Protosevich screenplay and "Layer Cake's" Matthew Vaughn reportedly negotiating to direct). Bei AICN gibt es weitere FF2-Kritiken...
[...] There's nothing I'd change about this film. It's light-hearted without damaging the characters, funny, and the action is spot-on. A huge improvement on the first film. [...]
Bei SHH! gibt es ein Interview mit dem FF2-Regisseur Tim Story... Und bei AICN gibt es eine FF2-Kritik von Roy... Vorsicht SPOILER !!!
[...] This film is COOL AS BALLS. This film is such a BIG step up from the first film. The action kicks ass and the FF step up to save the world. There are 5 BIG sequences, including one where they save our beloved London Eye from toppling into the Thames. That got a big reaction from this crowd. It's got the Fantasticar doing some great stuff, including a sweet bit where it splits into pieces to avoid Super-Doom (who has taken the power cosmic). It's got a HOT Jessica Alba. Chiklis IS Ben Grimm. [...]
Bei AICN gibt es eine FF2-Kritik von Memflix...
[...] FF2 wasn’t a total failure. The Surfer is phenomenal (with the exception being Lawrence Fishburne’s distracting voice). His entire body seemed to be in constant motion. I was mesmerized for every moment he was on screen. The special effects team did an outstanding job. However, what is perplexing about the look of the Surfer is what it did to the other special effects. Reed’s ability to stretch looked even more unnatural than in the first. Sue’s shield, Johnny’s fire, everything else was sidelined. It was as if the team only concentrated on The Surfer. [...]
No doubt, this movie will make money. I was shocked by the public’s positive reaction to the first film. Audiences will be so dazzled by the effects that they will forget that they are watching a terrible movie. [...]

Laurence Fishburne ("The Matrix" trilogy) will voice the role of The Silver Surfer in 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, opening in theaters on June 15.
Rumors had Fishburne voicing the role of Galactus in the sequel, but the studio hasn't decided whether Galactus will even speak, says Variety. Silver Surfer, who rides his surfboard through space, is the herald for the planet-destroying Galactus. Fishburne joined "Silver Surfer" this week. [...]
