[28.11.2011] CS! berichtet über die US-Kinocharts...
[...] George Miller's animated sequel Happy Feet Two (Warner Bros.) dropped to third with $13.4 million in its sophomore frame with $43.8 million grossed in ten days. It's still faring fairly poorly compared to the previous movie and probably won't even get to $100 million with so much family competition coming between now and Christmas. [...]

[08.11.2011] CS! sprach mit dem Regisseur George Miller...
[...] "People do think, 'what happened?' to me," he laughs, "but I do love 'Happy Feet'... I really love making these movies. I love the process of making these movies. They're incredibly hard to make because of the hours you put in. They're incredibly complex."
That being said, fans shouldn't hold their breath for a Happy Feet Three. Though Miller knew by the end of the first film that he was ready for a sequel, he says that a third adventure isn't necessarily on the horizon.
"It's surprising," he said, "but if you put a gun to my head and said, 'You have to come up with a story for 'Happy Feet Three,'' I'd say, 'Shoot me.' I would have no idea. I really would have no idea. The stories creep up on you... You just have to allow the stories to come and then they get in like little earworms in your head and then they won't go away. If that happens and we've got the energy, we'll do a third one. If that doesn't happen, it doesn't happen. But that's the only way you can do it. It has to be authentic. I really wanted to make this film better than the first one. Otherwise, at my age, what's the point?" [...]

[08.12.2009] meldet...
Elijah Wood and Robin Williams are in negotiations to reprise their roles as lead voices in "Happy Feet 2," Warner Bros.' sequel to Village Roadshow's 2006 Oscar-winning animated hit. George Miller is back in the director's chair.
Wood is reprising Mumble, the penguin who can't sing but can dance the tuxedo off of any waddler around him.
Williams is back as (what else?) the hyper-acting and wise-cracking penguin Ramon; he also voices Lovelace.
Miller wrote the new script, whose details are being kept on ice. Animal Logic again is producing the animation.
The actors will travel to Australia in late January/early February to record the voice tracks.
The original "Feet" grossed almost $198 million at the domestic boxoffice, winning a slew of awards and landing on numerous year top 10 lists. [...]

[23.08.2009] SCI FI Wire meldet...
Robin Williams, who played multiple characters in the animated dancing-penguin movie Happy Feet, confirmed that production is moving forward on a sequel, which begins shooting in Australia at the beginning of the year.
Director George Miller is already mounting recording sessions in his native country.
"I go to Australia in January," Williams said [...]

[17.11.2008] The Age meldet...
The sequel to Australia's Oscar-winning penguin blockbuster Happy Feet will waddle into 'life' at a new digital production facility in Sydney.
NSW Minister of State Development Ian Macdonald revealed on Sunday that Happy Feet 2, a follow-up to the singing penguins smash directed by George Miller, will employ an average of 438 people over three years.
They will include some 230 computer-generated imaging artists.
The new digital production facility is expected to provide a significant boost to the local movie industry, which has been criticised for a lack of investment in recent years.
Mr Macdonald said Happy Feet 2 and the new "Dr D" digital production facility, which he said were secured through a payroll tax assistance package, have put Sydney "once again front and centre of the national film industry."
Mr Miller, who will also direct the sequel, praised the government's assistance package and the Dr D facility, which he said had already attracted a number of big budget international film projects in the planning or pre-production stage.
"This incentive by the NSW government is a significant step. It allows us to make Happy Feet 2 in Sydney and it will be the first of many productions from our new digital studio, Dr D," he said in a statement.
"It helps us in our attempts to attract substantial foreign investment which will create hundreds of high-end, highly skilled jobs as well as nurture the careers of many people coming out of our educational institutions who would otherwise have no place to grow their talents."

[20.08.2008] meldet...
[...] The worst-kept secret in Sydney has been confirmed: Happy Feet2, the sequel to Miller's animated hit, is in production. Dr D Studios, the Kennedy Miller Mitchell joint venture with Omnilab, has announced on industry bulletin boards that it is hiring. Its website even points to a "director of recruitology". Just to spice things up, it also mentions it's in pre-production on the seemingly immortal Justice League of America, Babe3 and Fury Road, or what most will know of as Mad Max 4. [...]

[26.02.2008] meldet...
[...] Justice League was due to be shot at Fox Studios this year until Warner Bros suspended production last month, citing uncertainty over the new incentives. Based on a comic book, it is due to star the Australians Megan Gale, Teresa Palmer and Hugh Keays-Byrne among eight lead roles and employ a huge crew that includes visual effects specialists.
"One of the reasons for doing Justice League in this country is the opportunity to bring back all the people we lost on Happy Feet who went overseas," Miller said. "We spent four years developing this talent and the cream of them left because they didn't have another film to go on to ...
"The idea is to say come back, start off on Justice League then move onto Happy Feet 2."
Miller described the movie's status as "precarious" and said Warner Bros was pushing for it to be shot overseas, with Canada the most likely option. [...]

[26.10.2007] Moviehole berichtet u.a. über "Happy Feet 2"...
[...] work has also begun - albeit slowly - on a sequel to Milller’s uber-successful penguin flick but since the first one took four years to make don’t look for this one in theatres anytime soon.
Our colleague has discovered that ‘’Kennedy Miller is dancing with VFX and animation houses for both Mad Max 4 and Happy Feet 2. As far as I know the plan is to do all the animation for Happy Feet 2 in Australia, but not necessarily at Animal Logic (who did the first one). [...]

[26.02.2007] "Happy Feet" erhielt bei der Oscar-Verleihung die Trophäe in der Kategorie "Animated Feature"...

[25.01.2007] CS! berichtet über eine mögliche Fortsetzung...
Happy Feet co-writer, director and producer George Miller says he is interested in making a sequel to the animated hit, which has earned $350 million worldwide.
"It's certainly now a real possibility," Miller told the AAP. But he added that it would not be his next project. "There's about two or three films I want to do before we would ever embark on that, including another 'Mad Max' sooner or later."
The 61-year-old Australian would not say what the other two films were or discuss the genre. Miller has said Mel Gibson probably would not be involved in Mad Max 4.
Happy Feet received an Oscar nomination on Tuesday for Best Animated Feature.

[30.11.2006] Heute startet "Happy Feet" in den deutschen Kinos...

[27.11.2006] CS! berichtet über die US-Kinocharts...
[...] Newcomers were no competition for Happy Feet and Casino Royale over the five-day Thanksgiving holiday weekend, as the two hits remained firmly in first and second, respectively.
Warner Bros. Pictures' animated Happy Feet reached the $100 million mark after just 10 days. The $100 million-budgeted film earned $39.9 million from Friday to Sunday, while making $51.5 million during the five days, for a total of $100.1 milllion so far. [...]

[19.11.2006] CS! berichtet über die US-Einspielergebnisse...
[...] Opening in nearly 400 more theatres, Warner Bros' animated musical adventure Happy Feet grossed roughly $11.6 million on Friday. Since the George (Babe, Mad Max) Miller directed animated movie is likely to be bringing in a lot more family business over the weekend, one can expect that it should catch up to Bond by Saturday night and is likely to edge past it by Sunday. [...]

[...] I highly recommend Happy Feet. It's going to do well with families, despite some lyrics in a song or two that seemed a little out of place, referring to making love and whatnot (nothing graphic). I think it's also got enough funny parts, and enough eye candy in the form of gorgeous CGI, that adults will enjoy it even if they're not towing rugrats. We certainly weren't bored at all during what at first glance might seem to be a bit of a kiddie movie. [...]

[08.11.2006] Bei AICN gibt es eine Kritik...
[...] All in all, the movie is just plain ol' great, man. The plot is there. The laughs are there. And it has heart. Its theme of individuality and its view on how tradition rejects change is relevant, and kinda caught me off guard. It's fun and you won't regret seeing it, I promise. [...]

[22.09.2006] Bei Moviehole gibt es eine Kritik zu einer Testvorführung...
[...] The film looks stunning with the majestic Arctic background and the realistic penguins that move, waddle and dance to gay abandon. It hasn’t been a great year for animation, but George Miller, who created Babe on film, brings audiences what may well be the happiest and most visually striking piece of animation to come along since Shrek. I can hardly wait to see the film in its entirety. No wonder the footage we saw was greeted with boisterous applause. [...]

[30.10.2003] The Z Review meldet...
It has been revealed that Director George Miller's next project will be called Happy Feet after Mad max 4 was put on hold. It is thought that Elijah Wood will be part of the vocal cast for the animated movie. This is what he had to say about the role "Basically, penguins in life and in the film can sing. We've used that idea, and so each penguin has [his or her] own voice and their own what we call heartsong. That's how they meet their mates. I can't sing, so I'm seen as an outcast. But I can dance, and that's why it's called Happy Feet". "It's about ... being an individual and going out on his own and, at the same time, learning there's a fish shortage and trying to figure out why there's a fish shortage. Ultimately, it's about being accepted for who I am. It's a beautiful story, and I think people will love it. It was a lot of fun to do."

[12.09.2003] XSI Base meldet...
[...] Recent companies making the move to the SOFTIMAGE|XSI software in the film industry include Animal Logic for its production of Happy Feet, the visual effects-intensive, animated feature film directed by George Miller (Babe), which is scheduled for delivery in 2005. [...]

[07.04.2003] The Z Review meldet...
Director George Miller is embarking on an animated film for Warner Bros. Pictures/Village Roadshow Pictures called Happy Feet. The lead character will be voiced by Elijah Wood. The CGI-animated project will be made in Australia, with a print expected to be delivered in late 2005. The project is a children's fable about a young penguin's adventure in Antarctica.
