[08.11.2010] CS! meldet...
Paramount Digital Entertainment in association with MTV, both part of Viacom Inc., announced today that it plans to release "Jackass 3.5" digitally in March of 2011.
Jackass 3D hit theaters on October 15, 2010 and has already grossed over $155 million at the worldwide box office. The film stars Johnny Knoxville and the boys and was produced by Dickhouse Production's Jeff Tremaine and Spike Jonze, along with Knoxville. "Jackass 3.5," which was tailor-made for launch in digital media, will feature all new content, including never-before-seen stunts, pranks and other side-splitting antics by the Jackass crew. New stunts and antics from "Jackass 3.5" will be released online weekly and then packaged together as a feature length film distributed digitally followed by other platforms including home video.
"I don't want to say that the Jackass guys invented the Internet, but they were doing viral videos before most people had even heard the term. That distinguished heritage makes Jackass the perfect franchise for digital," said Thomas Lesinski, President of Paramount Digital Entertainment. "When the Jackass guys went to make 'Jackass 3D,' we proposed that we shoot a follow up to the successful 'Jackass 2.5' digital feature alongside it, and everyone was up for it. In 'Jackass 3.5,' you are going to see an entire movie's worth of new stunts, new pranks and new gags, on whatever screen you choose."
"For 'Jackass 3D' we shot enough footage for two movies so a lot of great stuff didn't make it in the film. Luckily you will get to see those bits in 3.5. We also shot some additional footage in Europe specifically for 3.5. I have staples in my head right now to prove it. Woo hoo," said Jackass co-founder and star Johnny Knoxville.
"It's been ten years since 'Jackass' first launched on MTV and there is still more poo, stunts and hilarity to go around on every screen imaginable," said Van Toffler, President, MTVN Music/Logo/Films Group. "Whenever the Jackass crew gets together, you know there will be a plethora of valuable fragments of entertainment to satiate their fans, and 'Jackass 3.5' will not disappoint as the latest installment in this fine franchise." [20.10.2010] 24 Frames berichtet über eine weitere Fortsetzung...
Worried that you’ll have to wait a few years for the next collection of antics from Johnny Knoxville and the "Jackass" crew? Don’t fret - it will likely be only a few months.
After the blockbuster opening of "Jackass 3-D," which sold $50.4 million worth of tickets in the U.S. and Canada over the weekend, Paramount Pictures is considering what to do with a wealth of footage that didn’t make the big-screen cut.
To hear it from "Jackass" ringmaster and star Knoxville, the production filmed so much material that there’s easily enough to create a sequel from what was left on the cutting-room floor.
"We shot two movies' worth of footage," Knoxville said. "We have so many bits that we never even turned in to Paramount because we were so swamped with ideas - funny stuff. The bits were just coming out of us left and right."
Paramount had been planning to use the extra footage for an online follow-up similar to "Jackass 2.5," which hit the Web three months after "Jackass Number Two" was released in theaters in September 2006.
But after the unexpectedly huge opening of "Jackass 3-D," which nearly doubled the $29-million launch of its predecessor, the studio is mulling other options, including a second theatrical release. A person familiar with the situation said that Paramount will likely decide about where and when to release the "Jackass 3-D" follow-up in the next few days.
According to Stephen "Steve-O" Glover, one of the best bits that failed to make the cut in the new film involves a man named Will the Farter using his, uh, talent with a blowgun to launch darts at a target painted on Glover’s face.
"How are you going to leave out the scene where a guy farts darts into another guy’s face?" Glover said. "You know you’re working with some high-quality material if you’re leaving something like that out."
Of course, with "Jackass 3-D" on track to gross more than $100 million, Paramount executives will likely want more than just a follow-up filled with deleted scenes.
Asked about the possibility of full-fledged sequels a few days before "3D" came out, the director of all three "Jackass" movies, Jeff Tremaine, explained that cast and crew have filmed every movie as if it will be their final one and had no plans to shoot more.
But he also said that even though several cast members are approaching their 40s, age in and of itself would not be a barrier to future filming.
"It doesn’t take a whole lot of skill to do what these guys do," Tremaine said. "As long as they’re brave enough to do it, they can go on as long as they want."

[...] Some might wonder why Johnny Knoxville and his group of long-time pals would put themselves through all sorts of dangerous and crazy stunts and pranks for the sake of Jackass 3D (Paramount), but with the estimated $50 million the third movie brought in this weekend, it's clear that whatever sort of physical or mental damage those stunts may cause, the "Jackass" crew is laughing all the way to the bank once again. Being the first installment shot fully using 3D cameras, Knoxville's latest laughfest opened on Friday in 3,081 theaters with an astounding $21.8 million, seeing a daily record for the month of October [...]

The third installment of "Jackass" from Paramount Pictures and MTV Films will hit theaters on October 15, 2010, this time in eye-popping 3D. Johnny Knoxville and the boys will begin shooting in late January with Dickhouse Production's Jeff Tremaine at the helm and producing alongside Spike Jonze and Knoxville.
The addition of 3D to the new film will raise the mayhem factor to new heights, promises star/producer Johnny Knoxville. "We're going to take the same 3D technology James Cameron used in 'Avatar' and stick it up Steve O's butt. We're taking stupid to a whole new dimension." [...]

[02.12.2009] Wie meldet, hat Paramount grünes Licht für einen 3. "Jackass"-Kinofilm erteilt, der in 3D gedreht werden soll...
[...] Par and MTV Films are even further along with "Jackass 3," with filming scheduled to begin Jan. 25. The studio has carved out a spot on its 2010 slate for the latest "Jackass," which will star Johnny Knoxville. The low-brow franchise has been something of a cash cow for the studio with the first two films -- which together cost $16.5 million -- raking in a combined $164.1 million worldwide.
Though Par confirmed the new "Jackass" will be shot in 3D, Dickhouse Prods. declined comment about the technology the film will employ. Insiders say Dickhouse's Jeff Tremaine, who will direct "Jackass 3," is conducting camera tests this week to ensure that the footage will look good.
Dickhouse's Knoxville, Tremaine and Spike Jonze are producing the film, which will lense in Knob Lick, Kentucky, Mianus, Connecticut, Fukang, China, Buttzville, New Jersey and Gayville, South Dakota.

Jackass star Steve-O let it slip today on the Howard Stern Show that a third Jackass movie is in the works. No, we’re not talking about the Jackass 2.5 direct-to-DVD movie which is coming out later this year. I’m talking about Jackass: Number Three.
"I was told to rest up for Jackass 3 which will start shooting in January," said Steve-O.
So there you have it, yet another pre-strike film. The first two Jackass films came out in early fall (September/October), so I would assume they are shooting for a Fall 2008 release. But who knows.

Although it was called infantile and sophomoric, "Jackass Number Two" not only won over critics but also lured in audiences at the domestic boxoffice. [24.09.2006] CS! berichtet über die US-Einspielergebnisse...
After nearly four years, the controversial MTV franchise led by Johnny Knoxville returned with the stunt comedy sequel Jackass Number 2, and the show's fans were out in force on its opening day, bringing it $11.6 million of business its opening day. That would make it the second-largest opening day for a September release, behind Reese Witherspoon's Sweet Home Alabama, which currently holds the September opening weekend record with $35.6 million. Based on the opening of the original Jackass: The Movie, it's likely to be fairly frontloaded, so it probably won't make more than $30 million over the weekend, leaving it just outside the Top 3 September Openers. [...] The movie starts off with a hilarious opening shot set to grand classical music. Amidst a mass of smoke emerges an enormous grocery store shopping cart, big enough to hold virtually the entire cast. 2 other guys are clinging to the sides as it goes full steam down a hill in slow motion. The audience was in tears. The guys are freeze framed as their names appear. They are hitting each other and being blasted by objects. Trust me, it was hysterical. [...]
