"The Chronicles of Riddick" - dt.
(Colm Feore, u.a. "Pearl Harbor") mit Hilfe seiner treuen Krieger, den Necromongers, unterjocht wird...
Riddick wird gefangen genommen und muss fortan in einem unterirdischen
Gefängnis sein Dasein fristen, in dem es alle Klimazonen von arktischer
Kälte bis vulkanischer Hitze zu ertragen gilt. Dort trifft unser Held auf
Kyra (Alexa Davalos, u.a. "Angel")...
Weiterhin wirken mit...
Judi Dench (u.a. "James Bond"),
Karl Urban (u.a. "Der Herr der Ringe: Die zwei Türme"),
und
Thandie Newton (u.a. "Mission: Impossible II")...
Die Dreharbeiten begannen am 9. Juni 2003 in Vancouver (Kanada)...

[...] Betrayed by his own kind and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick (Diesel) fights for survival against alien predators and becomes more powerful and dangerous than ever before. Soon bounty hunters from throughout the galaxy descend on Riddick only to find themselves pawns in his greater scheme for revenge. With his enemies right where he wants them, Riddick unleashes a vicious attack of vengeance before returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from destruction. [...]

The Chronicles of Riddick - Dead Man Stalking"... [...] The Riddick seen in Dead Man Stalking has trimmed off the fat of Chronicles and bulked himself up better than even his Pitch Black days. Shortly after Riddick finds his world fucked once again Twohy has the character say a line which encapsulates what went wrong with Riddick these past two movies and to put him in his current situation: he got civilized. He began to care too much about the people whose lives crossed his path. Well, what's caring too much to Riddick is different than you and me, but the point is made clear to the anti-hero: he's got to return back to being a predator, the baddest asshole in the universe, if he's to survive the trials in Dead Man Stalking -- and Hollywood. Back to basics. Back to killing. [...]

THR.com meldet... "Riddick," the third entry in the sci-fi series that began with 2000's Vin Diesel starrer "Pitch Black" and one of the most sought-after titles at EFM, has been picked by Central Partnership for Russia.
Lionsgate is handling international sales, and the asking price for Russia was $2.2 million. But reflecting how in demand the title is and a reawakening of the presales market, a bidding war erupted among Russia's major distributors, with the final price going above $2.5 million.
The project was unveiled to buyers at a nighttime presentation Saturday with Diesel present.
While some buyers have noted the prices for "Riddick" are high, it feels tailor-made for the Russian market, which is big on high-flying action and sci-fi epics.
"Riddick" delivers on both counts. Though billed as a back-to-basics approach to the character popularized by Diesel, the script features the character -- the most wanted man in the galaxy -- left for dead on a barren alien planet, dealing with "trisons" (three-legged bisons) and "mud demons." He must then contend with two squads of bounty hunters, one of which ride rockets called jetcycles.

Variety.com meldet... Vin Diesel is going back to the future to topline and produce a third chapter in the "Chronicles of Riddick" franchise.
Universal will handle domestic distribution on the sci-fi film, which is titled "Riddick." Lionsgate is selling international rights at the Berlin Film Festival.
David Twohy -- who wrote and directed the first two films in the series, "Pitch Black" and "The Chronicles of Riddick" -- will helm from a screenplay he penned.
Plot details are being kept under wraps. But insiders say the third outing will hew closer in tone to the cult hit "Pitch Black" and will focus on the character of Riddick as opposed to the universe he inhabits, which was the case with the critically panned "Chronicles of Riddick." Still, "Chronicles of Riddick" earned $116 million worldwide and spawned a successful vidgame series.
Dates are being worked out for "Riddick" so as not to overlap with Universal's fifth installment of "Fast and Furious," which will shoot sometime this year with Diesel onboard to star and produce.
Diesel and Samantha Vincent are producing "Riddick" through their One Race Films banner. Radar Films' Ted Fields is also producing. [...]

Auf Facebook schreibt Vin Diesel über die Fortsetzungen der "Riddick"-Saga... The Riddick discussion is about rating now...
Though Hollywood likes their PG Ratings, the next chapter in the COR series was always envisioned as an R rating, like Pitch Black...
One Studio exec suggested doing both "The Underverse" and "The Furyan", (working titles) at the same time, allowing us an R rating for the first and a PG rating for the second.
The good news- David Twohy’s script comes in next month. [...]

[...] "I've sketched out two ideas for the next installment," he told us during the exclusive interview. "Vin and I have decided on one approach of those two, and there's some interest at the studio level but it would be as a PG-13 film, and we don't want to do that anymore. That's one of the concessions we thought we made with 'Riddick' that we shouldn't have made. We also spent too much money and we were too ambitions, so yes, if we do go back to a third one, it will be focused again, hopefully again the same way that 'Pitch Black' was, and we'll spend less money doing it. We're just trying to figure out how much less we can do it for, because I don't think Vin is going to work for scale again."
"The third movie would be more modestly-scaled and it would probably feel more like 'Pitch Black' then 'Chronicles'," he continued. "It will always be Riddick-centric. If the question is whether it will be more like the first one than the second one, the difference is that yeah, you can sell it on its creatures and say 'This is a creature fest and we're going to go out as us vs. the creatures' but that's like a lot of different movies. However, the hallmark of a good movie, and I think 'Pitch Black' is a good movie, is that even if you took the creatures out of the picture, you'd still have some pretty interesting character dynamics going on within that group, and it's almost like you can tell the same story without the creature or substitute some other external pressure on the group, because there were internal pressures as well that were interesting. So was it really a creature feature? It had the hallmarks of it, the trappings of a creature movie, but it also had pretty good characters." [...]

IESB meldet... [...] Diesel's Riddick is a badass and is coming back to the big screen shortly in the next Riddick film with a rumored production start date of early 2010. [...]
Universal Pictures, the studio behind the franchise, is gung-ho about a Riddick sequel due to the huge tracking of Diesel's FAST & FURIOUS due out April 3 co-starring Paul Walker.
IESB is hearing the new Riddick film will be more down and dirty with less "fantasy epic stuff" to deal with. A bounty hunter/space pirate type of story line is expected.
The film will have a capped budget of around $35 million.
Expect an official announcement about the new film after FAST & FURIOUS opens big on April 3. [...]

Latino Review sprach mit Vin Diesel... [...] The third Riddick, you've been talking about that being a Ramboesque, bare bones smaller scale Riddick. Would that close the trilogy? Or are you planning a third Riddick after that?
Vin: I talked about Riddick as being The Fellowship in the Tolkien series. I was using Pitch Black as The Hobbit, as an independent story that introduces you to the world of Middle Earth, and then taking The Chronicles of Riddick and treating it as a trilogy that goes from the story that you saw, to the Underverse, and ultimately to Furia in the third film.
You said David is currently writing the third right now?
Vin: He's currently writing the third. It's hot. But to answer your question, about the scaled down aspect. Yes, there is a scaled down portion of this that goes back to the Pitch Black style. So if you think of Pitch Black as an introduction to the world, and you think of Lord of the Rings, and I'm just using this as a parallel, you think of it as a trilogy, you would think of Chronicles of Riddick as the first in a trilogy. [...]

GameSpot sprach mit Vin Diesel... GS: [...] The current state of a third movie in the Riddick series seems a little uncertain to the casual fan right now. How does that affect the writing and story explored in the new Dark Athena content? Does it sort of give you guys more room to explore this fiction, or does that change anything about how you've approached this game?
VD: Good question. Maybe we're too tight-lipped about the next Chronicles of Riddick film, and I think circa the release of [Dark Athena] that's probably when you'll start hearing more about the next Riddick film. It is underway and I almost think it's a coincidence that we haven't heard anything, that there hasn't been a lot of public stuff on the Riddick movie.
GS: So it hasn't affected the way you've explored the story in Dark Athena at all, or at least the writing team on the game?
VD: No, one of the important things we did early on in the process was really, really, really try to get every developer, every person working, every graphics designer working on this game to understand the mythology of the film and the IP as a whole. So there were bibles being created that talked about what can exist in this universe and what can't exist in this universe. So I'm actually proud about the fact that everyone is a Chronicles of Riddick expert on the game side. I think that adds something special to the game, and it definitely alleviates any concerns about where the story goes in the game. Because I feel like they've all committed so much to the franchise that everything they do only enhances the universe.
But it's interesting that you've made that comment. Maybe we've been too tight-lipped about the movie, and you'll probably hear a lot more about it as this game is released. I think we were so adamant about knocking this game out of the park that we've been doing a lot of late hours--the overtime's on the game at the moment while [Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick screenwriter] David Twohy is finishing up the next script. [...]
