"Alien 3" und "Rendezvous with Rama") !!!

Eine Fortsetzung war zwar geplant, wurde aber verworfen... Nun sieht es so aus, als würde in naher Zukunft ein Prequel mit dem Titel "Virtue" in die Kinos kommen...

A prequel to one of the best thrillers of the 90s, "Se7en", is about to get underway, says Bloody Disgusting.
Called "Virtue", the film is said to be written as a stand-alone feature but will have some links to the Brad Pitt/Morgan Freeman starring film.
According to the site, a treatment has been written for the film - which at this stage David Fincher, the director of the original, is not mentioned as helming - with the studio now on the lookout for someone that’s handy with a pen to flesh out the full screenplay.
Meantime, a separate spin-off of the original "Se7en" film, a comic book series has also been commissioned. The comics will also serve as a prequel to the events of the 1995 film. [...]

[...] Is it just me or was the proposed SE7EN sequel one of the worst ideas in the history of man. It was supposed to follow Morgan Freeman's character as he investigated other crimes except now he was sorta psychic. OOF. Thank God that got killed. But I was always interested in the SE7EN world and wished that there was a way they could explore it more without it being super corny. I think we've finally found a way. Zenescope Entertainment recently pacted with New Line to release a seven issue comic series based on SE7EN. The books would be about each of the deadly sins and the tasks John Doe had to go through to carry each one of them out. The first issue, "Gluttony," is in stores now with more to come and features what exactly Doe does to the fat man inside his disgusting apartment. [...]

[25.04.2005] The Hollywood News meldet...
[...] David Fincher has talked about all of his upcoming projects, including his next, Zodiac, but he touched on as to whether or not a sequel to SE7EN will make it to the screen.
"I read a script two or three years ago that they wanted to make the sequel to Se7en. It didn't make a lot of sense to me. They wanted Morgan to have become clairvoyant in some way and that was the way he was now solving serial-killer cases! And I was like, 'Well, that's handy!' Its the kind of high concept you worry about. So I dont know that there is going to be a sequel. I do know that they have to call me if they're going to do it..."

IMDB reports that Brad Pitt won't be returning for the sequel to "Seven". Morgan Freeman will be reprising his role however. The action will center on Freeman's character William Somerset, who partnered Pitt in the first film, as he comes up against another serial killer - who has psychic abilities. An insider says, "The gruesome climax had previously ruled out a sequel. But bosses think they have the right script now. Brad's character will be mentioned, but he will not appear. He will be in a mental hospital."

[15.05.2002] Bei Coming Attractions gibt es ein Script-Review von "Solace", wobei es sich dabei evtl. um das Sieben-Sequel handelt... Vorsicht SPOILER !!!
[...] Somerset (who apparently has a family and is still on the force) is trying to catch another serial killer. this is difficult as every murder committed by the serial killer is done without no witnesses at all. the killer murders his victims by gauging a scalpel into the back of their heads killing them quickly and painlessly. without any leads, Somerset goes to his trusty blind chess playing PSYCHIC friend (... what?) who lives out in the woods. This character studies the bodies and it is soon revealed that every victim had a terminal disease. [...]

According to Variety, New Line Cinema is exploring another installment of "Seven". The sequel the studio is contemplating would make Morgan Freeman's cop character the centerpiece in a restructuring of "Solace," a spec script by "Ocean's Eleven" scribe Ted Griffin and Sean Bailey that New Line bought last year for seven figures. The drama revolves around a psychic cop tracking a serial killer who has psychic capabilities himself.
No deal has been made for Freeman and he's contemplating the project even as Paramount and producers David Brown and Joe Wizan forge ahead with the third installment of the franchise featuring Alex Cross, Freeman's homicide detective character from "Kiss the Girls" and "Along Came A Spider," which they hope will continue with the James Patterson bestseller "Roses Are Red."
