FILME A-Z

SpongeBob Schwammkopf [29.02.2012] THR meldet...
[...] "We will be releasing a SpongeBob movie at the end of 2014, which will serve to start off or be one of our films that starts off our new animation effort," he told a Deutsche Bank media and telecom investor conference in Palm Beach, Fla. His appearance was webcast. [...]
Viacom released a SpongeBob film several years ago, but back then, Nickelodeon did not have as much of a presence around the world, Dauman said Tuesday in touting the outlook for the new feature.
The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie hit the silver screen late in 2004 and grossed $85.4 million domestically and $54.7 million abroad, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com. The film saw SpongeBob take leave from the town of Bikini Bottom to track down King Neptune's stolen crown.
Paramount did not provide additional deals on the new SpongeBob film.
Dauman also once again said that the Paramount animation productions will be a new opportunity for his company as they will each cost less than $100 million, and the animation unit will be only 30 to 40 people strong, allowing for good financial returns. Thanks to modern technology, the films still look "great" despite the lower cost, he said. He also lauded his studio team for winning an animation Oscar for Rango, the studio's first fully-owned CGI effort. "We're very proud of that," he said.

Emmy-nominated SpongeBob SquarePants, one of the most popular kids' shows in television history, is returning with 20 all-new nautical and nonsensical adventures to premiere on Nickelodeon in 2005, it was announced today by Cyma Zarghami, President, Nickelodeon Television. Executive produced by SpongeBob SquarePants creator Stephen Hillenburg, the new episodes will feature the original voice cast including Tom Kenny as SpongeBob, Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick, Rodger Bumpass as Squidward, Clancy Brown as Mr. Krabs and Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy Cheeks. A favorite of viewers of all ages, the series launched in July 1999 and has held rank as the number-one kids' show on broadcast and cable television for almost three years.
"What could be better than announcing that the world's most beloved and optimistic sea sponge is coming back with 20 new episodes," said Zarghami. "SpongeBob is the most successful property in our 25-year history, and we're thrilled to bring his fans more adventures from Bikini Bottom. And maybe he'll finally get his driver's license."
Said creator Hillenburg, "While I'm completing the day-to-day production of the SpongeBob feature film, I am also looking forward to overseeing the creation of these new SpongeBob episodes for television."
On November 19, SpongeBob SquarePants and his gang will take their undersea antics to the big screen in the upcoming Nickelodeon Movies Paramount Pictures theatrical release The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. SpongeBob will be bigger, spongier and more absorbent than ever as he and his dimwitted, faithful friend Patrick go on a heroic, comedic quest that takes them to new and unexplored territory. Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Tambor and Academy Award-nominated actor Alec Baldwin star in the feature alongside the original cast.
Earning its status as a pop culture phenomenon, SpongeBob SquarePants has been the number-one kids' show on television for almost three years or 11 consecutive quarters. Nearly 60 million viewers tune into the show each month, including 23.4 million Kids 2-11, 13.4 million Tweens 9-14, and 27.1 million Adults 18+. Currently, more adults are watching SpongeBob than at any other point in the show's history, increasing the show's adult viewership by 60% compared to its premiere.
SpongeBob SquarePants is created and executive produced by Stephen Hillenburg, who previously worked as a writer, director and creative director on Nickelodeon's animated series, Rocko's Modern Life. Hillenburg graduated from the California Institute of the Arts with a master's degree in experimental animation and studied marine biology and art as an undergraduate. Before beginning a career in animation, Hillenburg worked with kids as a science educator and staff artist at the Orange County Marine Institute.
Paul Tibbitt will helm the day-to-day production of the new episodes. Tibbitt served as a director and writer on SpongeBob SquarePants for all three current seasons. He wrote some of the show's most memorable episodes such as "Ripped Pants" and "Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy." Tibbitt is one of the co- writers and storyboard artists on The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie.
SpongeBob SquarePants is a Nicktoons Production, with Hillenburg's United Plankton Pictures, and is produced at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank, CA.

[28.04.2003] Bei Spongebob Online gibt es ein Interview mit Paul Tibbitt...
PCbob: While keeping your organs intact, what can you tell us about the movie?
PT: All I can say is the plot spreading around the internet is the plot of Finding Nemo. The Spongebob movie is not that. We're working at an office building in Glendale. We're not working in the Nickelodeon studios because they want to try to keep a lid on what the movie is about. We've been working since October or late September of last year. Steve is the director of the movie, and Tim Hill is the head writer. He actually helped Steve with the pitch. Tim's been involved with Spongebob since way back. He was the director of Muppets in Space and a few other movies. Then there's Derek Drymon and Steve. I'm here. Aaron Springer, Kent Osborne, who was my partner in the last season. Nick Jennings and Kenny Pittenger are back designing backgrounds. Sherm Cohen and Mike Roth and Tuck Tucker (of Hey Arnold fame) are also cleaning up the storyboard drawings for the story reel. Sherm is designing some new characters as well. We're doing it the same way we did the show. They had an outline, and we worked on that for awhile. We're boarding it out now. We've got a rough assemblege of the whole movie. We're going back and forth and finding out what works and doesn't work. It's a long process. I think we're hoping to have it all written by August. The release date is still set for 2004. [...]

[11.02.2002] Die NY Post meldet...
NICKELODEON'S "SpongeBob SquarePants" is coming to the big screen. The movie version of "SpongeBob," Nick's top-rated kid's show, will likely hit theaters in late 2003 or early 2004 and will be produced by Paramount, sources say. [...]
