MTV sprach mit Andrew Stanton über eine mögliche Fortsetzung... [...] "Personally, I never consider sequels," WALL-E writer/director Andrew Stanton told MTV News. "I think that takes a lot of hubris to think that your idea is going to live on and on, and I always love the idea of something just being contained and done." But didn’t Stanton co-write the screenplay for "Toy Story 2"? Maybe there’s a chance someday for a second go at WALL-E?
Pressed if he had any ideas in mind for the characters in the animated feature, Stanton was blunt: "Not for me, no."
"We work on these things for so long," he explained, "that we have a hard time simply thinking that the [first] film is ever going to be done. I’m not against sequels, and I’ve certainly experienced personally and seen secondhand great sequels, but I don’t go in with that intent." [...]

CS! berichtet über die US-Kinocharts... [...] Pixar Animation's ninth movie, the robot love story WALL-E (Disney), was expected to destroy all competition this weekend, but apparently, the counter-programming of an R-rated action flick was too much for it. It opened with an estimated $62.5 million in 3,992 theaters, decent but disappointing compared to expectations, and based on estimates, WALL-E is neck and neck with Pixar's 2001 offering Monsters, Inc. to be the animation studio's third-biggest opening ever. On the more positive note, it opened bigger than Pixar's two previous summer releases. With near-perfect reviews and strong word-of-mouth, WALL-E should easily surpass the $200 million mark and make a play for the $250 million grossed by previous Pixar animated movies. Considering that it cost a rumored $180 million, quite a bit more than previous movies, it will have to do well over the next few weeks if it's going to be considered profitable. [...]

Bei AICN gibt es eine Kritik von Quint... [...] To say this is a masterpiece of family filmmaking is no surprise. It is Pixar, afterall. To say it’s a masterpiece of Science Fiction storytelling is a bigger surprise. The future told here is a dark one, the implications of HAL-9000-like twisted programming machinery and an almost totalitarian robot regime on the space ship are all much darker than I imagined we’d see in a family film.
But it’s a testament to WALL-E as a personality that he keeps the movie from being depressing. His neverending kindness, optimism and seemingly unlimited cuteness infects not just the audience, but all the characters he interacts with. [...]

Bei AICN gibt es Kritiken zu "WALL-E"... [...] it’s the story that’s going to stir up a lot of comment - maybe the most powerful warning against consumerism, unsustainable lifestyles, and addiction to luxury that was ever offered in a mainstream film. It’s downright chilling in places, without ever ceasing to be funny, exciting, heart-warming entertainment in the now time-honored Pixar tradition. [...]

Quint von AICN berichtet von einer Disney-Präsentation in NY... Vorsicht Story-SPOILER !!! [...] I predict WALL-E will rake in the dough and could find itself on the top of many fan’s best of Pixar lists. If the first third is anything to go by, it’s some of the best stuff I’ve ever seen come out of computer animation in terms of character work and sheer beauty. [...]

I'm not sure from this if he's doing all the music, some songs or is even more heavily involved, this is a very interesting and great development for this film. He discusses his involvement in the film and spills some details about what we can expect conceptually and visually in WALL-E in this video on his site. [...]

Bei AICN gibt es einen kurzen Beitrag zu einer "WALL-E" Testvorführung... SPOILER !!! [...] There's very little dialog throughout the movie as the main character(s) are service bots (mostly R2-D2esque beep-boops), but the use of physical comedy and body-language is done in a very fresh way that keeps you captivated throughout. It's all CGI as you've guessed by now, except for Fred Willard who makes some very brief but memorable live action appearances [...]

Capone von AICN sprach mit Jeff Garlin, u.a. über "WALL-E"... SPOILER !!! Capone: [...] So talk about WALL-E.
Jeff Garlin: Yeah, in WALL-E, I’m the only animated voice. I shouldn’t say that: I’m the only human voice in WALL-E. That’s the best way to say it. C: You’re playing a human?
JG: I’m playing a human being, yeah, yeah. I’m actually the only human being who speaks in the movie. C: Wow.
JG: Yeah, I have a nice part. I play the captain. I just wrapped, like, about a week ago, my voice. It won’t be coming out until June. [At this point a publicist comes into the room to drop something off and shuts the door behind him.] SHUT THAT DOOR!! WILL YOU SHUT THAT DOOR! [laughs]
Yeah, so it’s... Boy, it’s a very risky movie, because it’s kind of like Buster Keaton meets SILENT RUNNING. Remember SILENT RUNNING? That’s what it is, so, yeah, yeah, it’s very much a strange... So, if they hit, it’ll be an amazing thing. It’ll blow people away, and they could... It’s a risky proposition, I think. [...]

CS! meldet... The new issue of TIME magazine talks about what's ahead for Pixar Animation Studios, including new details on the company's next three films after Ratatouille, opening on June 29. Here is what you can expect: WALL-E (June 27, 2008)
The studio synopsis: "The year is 2700. WALL-E, a robot, spends every day doing what he was made for. But soon, he will discover what he was meant for." Andrew Stanton, writer-director of "Finding Nemo" (still Pixar's biggest box-office hit), describes this metallic love story as "R2-D2 meets City Lights," with WALL-E meeting a cute robot named Eve. Those who remember the 1931 Charlie Chaplin film, about a blind girl wooed by a tramp she mistakenly believes is a rich man, can transpose the story to a lonely planet and guess from there. The main roles will be "voiced" electronically by Ben Burtt, the wizardly sound designer behind Star Wars. [...]
