E.B. White's "Wilbur & Charlotte" wurde verfilmt...

Das kleine Mädchen Fern (Dakota Fanning, u.a.

[...] there’s a delicacy and grace to Charlotte’s Web that doesn’t exist in most children’s stories, and they make the transition to this movie quite nicely. If a film puts that little tickle in the back of my throat, I have to give it credit for getting to me. Charlotte’s Web is just such a film. Kids will adore it, but adults will be reminded of a time when such simple stories moved them and shaped their outlook and lives.

Nickelodeon Films is joining Kerner Entertainment as a producer on Paramount's live-action/CG animation adaptation of E.B. White's Charlotte's Web, reports Variety. Paramount is also in talks with Walden Media to co-finance and produce. The film, to be directed by Gary Winick, is expected to start filming in January.
In Charlotte's Web, written in 1952, an affectionate, sometimes bashful pig named Wilbur befriends a spider named Charlotte, who lives in the rafters above his pen. A prancing, playful bloke, Wilbur is devastated when he learns of the destiny that befalls all those of porcine persuasion. Determined to save her friend, Charlotte spins a web that reads "Some Pig," convincing the farmer and surrounding community that Wilbur is no ordinary animal and should be saved.
Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich, In Her Shoes) penned the script with revisions by Karey Kirkpatrick (Chicken Run).

[04.06.2004] CS! meldet...
Paramount and producer Jordan Kerner have tapped Gary Winick (13 Going on 30) to direct the live-action/CG animation adaptation of E.B. White's Charlotte's Web. Variety says that Susannah Grant, whose credits include Erin Brockovich and In Her Shoes, wrote the script; Karey Kirkpatrick (Chicken Run, Curious George) did revisions.
The novel, written in 1952, is the best-selling children's paperback of all time. The story centers on a spider who saves the life of her friend, a pig named Wilbur, by weaving five words into her webs; it also follows a 10-year-old girl who begins the journey into adolescence.
The book was made into a 1973 animated feature by Paramount and Sagittarius Productions.

[13.10.2003] meldet...
Paramount Pictures is preparing to bring the legendary E.B. White children's book "Charlotte's Web" to the big screen in a live-action/CGI feature to be penned by "Erin Brockovich" scribe Susannah Grant.
Originally published in 1952, "Charlotte's Web" takes place on a farm in Maine and concerns a pig named Wilbur and his devoted friend Charlotte, the spider who saves his life.
While there is no director yet attached to the project, "City of Angels" director Brad Silberling is believed to be the studio's top choice for the assignment. Silberling is attached to helm the studio's upcoming "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events," so if he were to take on the "Charlotte" project, it would likely come after "Snicket" wraps.
Paramount previously adapted "Charlotte's Web" in 1973, when the studio produced a Hanna-Barbera animated take on the classic tale. Paramount production co-president Karen Rosenfelt is overseeing the project for the studio. Grant, who earned an Oscar nomination for her "Brockovich" script, also penned the Cinderella story "Ever After" and the animated "Pocahontas." She is repped by CAA.
