FILME A-Z

Christopher Nolan (u.a.

LIAM Neeson has he’s returning to the Batman franchise but despite filming his comeback - he has no idea what’s in store for his character.
The Oscar winning star reprises his Batman Begins role of Ra Al Ghul in Dark Knight Rises but such was the secrecy on set he’s not likely to give away any plot spoilers.
"I can tell you nothing about Dark Knight Rises, seriously," says Liam.
"I was on set for maybe an hour-and-a-half and the director didn’t tell me anything of what it’s about.
"So, I’m being very honest when I say I have no idea what’s going to happen."

[...] both director Christopher Nolan and his co-writer and brother Jonathan Nolan say you have nothing to worry about. Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Chris Nolan said: "I think when people see the film, things will come into focus. Bane is very complex and very interesting and when people see the finished film people will be very entertained by him."
Jonah Nolan added the following when speaking to CraveOnline: "I gotta tell you, I think what Tom Hardy's doing with the role is spectacular. I have the benefit of seeing a little bit more than the audience has seen at this point. It's pretty spectacular."
He also talked about the prologue's action sequence in the air. "I think Chris had long wanted to do sort of the aerial spectacular. It's such a good fit for the IMAX cameras that he likes to shoot with and so that was a long time in the making."

[...] In the article, Nolan reveals that the story picks up eight years after The Dark Knight. "It's really all about finishing Batman and Bruce Wayne's story. We left him in a very precarious place. Perhaps surprisingly for some people, our story picks up quite a bit later, eight years after 'The Dark Knight.' So he's an older Bruce Wayne; he's not in a great state. With Bane, we're looking to give Batman a challenge he hasn't had before. With our choice of villain and with our choice of story we're testing Batman both physically as well as mentally."
Tom Hardy said that Bane is "brutal. He's a big dude who's incredibly clinical, in the fact that he has a result-based and oriented fighting style. It's not about fighting. It's about carnage. The style is heavy-handed, heavy-footed, it's nasty. Anything from small-joint manipulation to crushing skulls, crushing rib cages, stamping on shins and knees and necks and collarbones and snapping heads off and tearing his fists through chests, ripping out spinal columns. He is a terrorist in mentality as well as brutal action."
Costume designer Lindy Hemming also talked about Bane's mask in the film. "He was injured early in his story. He's suffering from pain and needs gas to survive. He can't survive the pain without the mask. The pipes from the mask go back along his jawline and feed into the thing at his back, where there are two cannisters."
Nolan added that the prologue coming with Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol in IMAX "is basically the first six, seven minutes of the film. It's an introduction to Bane, and a taste of the rest of the film." [...]

[25.10.2011] AMC Theatres meldet...
Rumors hit the web a few days ago that a six minute prologue from "The Dark Knight Rises" would be shown in front of IMAX screenings for "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol."
AMC Theatres can confirm that this footage will be shown in front of Ghost Protocol on December 16th. (Ghost Protocol will release in IMAX five days before its general release on the 21st of December.)
However...
The six minute Dark Knight Rises prologue footage will only be shown on the higher resolution 70mm IMAX screens. Not the digital IMAX screens.
Locations haven't been confirmed yet [...]

[20.10.2011] Slashfilm.com meldet...
UPDATE: The prologue is actually six minutes, not eight. Independent sources have also confirmed the story.
A trusted theater (read: exhibitor) source has just exclusively alerted /Film that Warner Bros. plans to attach a six minute prologue to The Dark Knight Rises to all IMAX prints of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. Christopher Nolan‘s third film in his Batman trilogy is being released by Warner Bros. and Brad Bird‘s first live action film is Paramount, but the arrangement would certainly be mutually beneficial as Mission: Impossible is the biggest IMAX release of the holiday season. Putting a teaser for The Dark Knight Rises in front of it would certainly drive audiences to that format as opposed to regular theaters. [...]

[19.10.2011] 24 Frames meldet...
"The Dark Knight Rises," Christopher Nolan's third film in the Batman trilogy, has been shooting in Los Angeles in recent weeks. But the Christian Bale-led production is now set to make a trip to New York and could be heading to a fraught locale: the Occupy Wall Street protests.
Under its code name "Magnus Rex," the Warner Bros./Legendary Pictures production will arrive in the nation's biggest city for 14 days starting Oct. 29, according to a casting notice recently issued by producers. And, according to a person briefed on actors’ schedules who requested anonymity because production details were being kept confidential, cast members have been told the shoot could include scenes shot at the Occupy Wall Street protests. [...] They just released your first official still, but we also got a ton of unofficial material from the fans hanging around the set. How does that make you feel? Is it stealing your thunder and is there any concern about revealing too much about that final product?
It’s disappointing. I think everyone feels a slight frustration with it because those stills so undercut the work that’s being done. No, no one’s nervous about it. I mean, honestly, like, wait till you see this movie. Chris is doing insane things in it. And it’s gonna be marvelous and it’s gonna be way beyond what anyone imagines that it could be. You can’t imagine the things that he’s doing, at least I couldn’t until I read the script and I was like, ‘You’re really? Okay, you’re going there!” And it’s Chris Nolan; even the picture that he released of me, that’s not everything. That’s like a tenth of what the catsuit is. And I’ve got to say, I find it frustrating and I know he finds it frustrating, but I also think that he’s having fun with it, kind of like spooning out secrets. He has a lot more control than you think. [...]

Though production is already underway on multiple continents, The Dark Knight Rises' production team may be eyeing a new North American city for certain sequences. Cory Booker, the Mayor of Newark, New Jersey tweeted the news earlier today:
"Met with the producer and studio team for the next Batman Movie," he wrote, "Great people! They hope to film scenes in Nwk. Holy Brick City Batman! POW!"

Two more have been added to the cast of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises. Variety reports that Brett Cullen and Chris Ellis have signed on for the film as a judge and a priest, respectively.
Cullen is best known for appearances in films like Apollo 13 and, in a very different comic book universe, Ghost Rider, where he played Barton Blaze, father to Nicolas Cage's Johnny Blaze.
Ellis, meanwhile, is also known for a part in Apollo 13 and other character roles in films like Transformers, Armageddon and Catch Me If You Can. [...]

[13.04.2011] Heat Vision meldet...
As production on Christopher Nolan's bat-finale, The Dark Knight Rises inches closer and closer, more bits of casting are slipping out. The latest is that of Daniel Sunjata, star of "Grey's Anatomy" and "Rescue Me" who, according to The Tracking Board (via /Film) has just joined the project in an unspecified capacity.
Sunjata has previously appeared on the big screen in films like The Devil Wears Prada and Ghosts of Girlfriends Past.
The Dark Knight Rises will begin production shortly in Pittsburgh and is set to feature the return of Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman, along with roles for Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Juno Temple and Josh Pence. It is set for release on July 20, 2012.
UPDATE: Variety has added a bit more information, suggesting that Sunjata will play a special forces operative. They also report that two other actors, Diego Klattenhoff and Burn Gorman, are up for supporting roles.
Klattenhoff has appeared in films like Mean Girls and Lucky Number Slevin and is said to have been offered the part of a rookie cop. Burn Gorman is best known to genre fandom as Owen Harper on "Torchwood". His potential role is not specified.

[09.04.2011] Heat Vision meldet...
Josh Pence, who played opposite Armie Hammer as Tyler Winklevoss in The Social Network (where Hammer's face was superimposed on his), has been cast as a young Ra's Al Ghul in Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan's new Batman movie.
The movie's casting has been ultra-secret, although Christian Bale, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman are returning to lead a caped crusading cast, which includes Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard.
The story line has also been kept locked up in the Batcave but Pence's casting throws more than a few crumbs to follow. Ra's Al Ghul was played by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins, thus paving the way for a possible return of the supposedly dead character. Also, while the studio never confirmed Cotillard's character, it has been rumored to be that of Thalia Al Ghul, the daughter of Batman's mentor-turned-enemy.
Sources say Pence will appear in scenes that take place 30 years prior to the present story. [...]

[30.03.2011] Hero Complex meldet...
Jeff Robinov is already thinking about DC Comics movies for 2013 and beyond, and he’s got "Justice League" and a reinvented Batman on his mind.
The president of the Warner Bros. motion picture group, who recently sat down for an extensive interview with The Times, discussed his long-term strategy for DC beyond movies already in the works, such as June’s "Green Lantern" and next year’s "The Dark Knight Rises" and Superman movie. [...]
Robinov knows that the most bankable part of his superhero empire has been Nolan and his Gotham City films - the studio has yet to deliver a 21st century superhero blockbuster hit without Nolan in the director’s seat. Batman will continue to be a centerpiece property beyond next year’s "The Dark Knight Rises" and Nolan’s departure from the franchise. "We have the third Batman, but then we’ll have to reinvent Batman... Chris Nolan and [producing partner and wife] Emma Thomas will be producing it, so it will be a conversation with them about what the next phase is."

[26.03.2011] Showblitz meldet...
Last weekend, Jeff Sneider exclusively reported that Juno Temple was being eyed for a role in "The Dark Knight Rises" -- and now we know for sure. SHOWBLITZ has learned that the indie darling is locked in and set to begin shooting early this summer. Not 100% certain on the role yet, but we're hearing she'll play a "street-smart Gotham girl," so it' s not sounding like anything more than a small part.

[22.03.2011] Inside Movies meldet...
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, long-rumored to be joining his Inception brethren in The Dark Knight Rises, will appear in director Christopher Nolan’s third Batman film. But a source close to the situation says that recent reports that Gordon-Levitt will play Alberto Falcone (a.k.a. the Holiday Killer) - the son of former mob kingpin, Carmine Falcone (Tom Wilkinson) - are incorrect. So, Batman fans: Begin the re-speculation now!

[20.03.2011] CS! meldet...
On Friday, Variety reported that Inception co-star Joseph Gordon-Levitt had closed a deal to re-team with director Christopher Nolan for The Dark Knight Rises. The trade has since updated their article with who he will play in the anticipated film:
Speculation has run rampant regarding the role, with blogs pegging the part as The Riddler or Deadshot, but insiders tell Variety that Gordon-Levitt will be playing Alberto Falcone, the son of Mafia chieftain Carmine Falcone, the character Tom Wilkinson played in "Batman Begins."
Filming for the movie is set to kick-off soon. [...]

[19.03.2011] CS! meldet...
Joseph Gordon-Levitt has signed his deal to star, and Juno Temple (Cracks) is being eyed for a supporting role as a street-smart Gotham girl in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, reports Variety.
Gordon-Levitt's part is still being kept under wraps, writes the trade.
They are joining a cast that includes Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway. Warner Bros. has set a release date of July 20, 2012.

[12.03.2011] CBS News meldet...
During a recent interview for his new sci-fi action film, "Battle: Los Angeles," Aaron Eckhart hinted at a surprise-return to his character, Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face in Christopher Nolan's upcoming sequel, "The Dark Knight Rises."
This would be a shock to must fans who by now are well aware of Harvey Dent's outcome in 2008's "The Dark Knight."
Getting hard information from any of the major players in "The Dark Knight Returns," from director Christopher Nolan to the actors involved, has not been easy. [...]
