[06.05.2005] CS! meldet...
Spike TV will adapt the successful theatrical franchise Blade, based on the cult favorite Marvel Superhero, as a two-hour, action-adventure, television movie in early 2006. The announcement was made by Spike TV President Doug Herzog. Blade is Herzog's first original scripted programming announcement since he took over the network earlier this year.
"The action-adventure genre is largely ignored in today's television landscape, and we know it is something that our male viewers really want," said Herzog. "Blade is a great movie franchise with an established brand that men already recognize and identify with."
Blade is the unforgettable legend of an immortal warrior who battles a thriving underworld of vampires seeking to decimate the human race. Half man and half vampire, Blade uses his fierce powers and skills to fearlessly battle the demonic creatures of the night and carry on a blood-drenched crusade to prevent the ascendance of vampires over mankind. The blockbuster film starred actor Wesley Snipes and spawned two sequels. Combined, the films have earned more than $400 million worldwide.
Blade will be produced by New Line Television and Marvel Studios. David Goyer is executive producer. He penned the three screenplays for the Blade trilogy, and produced and directed the last installment of the franchise, Blade: Trinity.

[04.04.2005] Zap2it.com meldet...
Ryan Reynolds says he doubts that a much-anticipated "Blade" spin-off will happen with the "Nightstalker" comic book character he helped create.
"I don't think it's going to happen," Reynolds says in an interview with Zap2it.com on Friday for his upcoming film "The Amityville Horror." "I gave them a few ideas of how to take our characters off into a different direction away from the vampire thing, but they really want Blade back."
Blade is the reluctant vampire brought to film by Wesley Snipes in three movies. Last fall, "Blade: Trinity" brought in the comic book characters of Hannibal King, played by Reynolds, and Abigail Whistler, played by Jessica Biel, who are vampire hunters who team up with Blade.
The third part of the New Line franchise made about $52 million domestically at the box office, but cost more than $65 million to make. Snipes has said he is reluctant to reprise his role, and Reynolds says he doesn't mind moving on either. [...]

[31.01.2005] Blickpunkt:Film meldet...

Besucher). [...]

[07.01.2005] Creature Corner meldet...
[...] It seems that the Blade franchise is dead, but what about that Nightstalkers spinoff film that Blade: Trinity was supposed to launch? The Corner dropped a line to New Line Cinema’s Toby Emmerich and asked him about the status of the Nightstalkers film as well as the status, this week’s status, of Freddy Vs. Jason 2. "There are no plans for another Freddy Vs. Jason film right now," says Emmerich who wrote the excellent 2000 time-travel thriller Frequency. "There are no plans right now for a Nightstalkers film until I see how well Blade: Trinity does on video."

[04.12.2004] Bei AICN gibt es weitere Kritiken zu B3... Und Harry Knowles von AICN mag den 3. Teil definitiv nicht...
[...] Ultimately - the main failure of the film lays in a muddled ridiculously bad script that completely renders Blade effectively insignificant - and left every other character with little to no purpose on screen. The actors in place are good actors - but the material is well beneath all of them... as is the design, choreography and surroundings. The lack of attention to detail felt troubling as aspects from the prior films that worked were reduced here to shallow jokes and tongue in cheek humor that more often than naught fell flat, unless delivered as a Blade one-liner or by Ryan Reynolds. In the end, I was left like my beginning metaphor thinking, "People are going to pay for this shit? Fuck!" [...]

[...] Overall, BLADE TRINITY is a bit of a mixed bag, but the good outweighs the bad considerably, and like the first two BLADE films, this one is fun. If you’re already a fan, buckle up, because this one should satisfy. And even if you’re not, give it a try, because it’s always nice to see not one but two new action stars emerge. [...]

[...] "Blade: Trinity" looks like it will be a success this winter. Fans of the original "Blade" will be satisfied, and those of us who enjoyed its sequel will be impressed. Is it safe that next winter’s "Batman Begins" is safe in the hands of director Christopher Nolan and writer Goyer, because if anything, "Blade" is sharp.

[02.09.2004] Bei Empire Online gab es einen Webchat mit GDT...
Ronjohnson: Are you interested in seeing what's been done with Blade: Trinity?
Guillermo: I already saw Trinity at an early cut, and enjoyed it. It's a very different movie from one and two - it has a lot more dark, nasty Goyer comedy in it - but I happen to be a fan of dark, nasty Goyer comedy. I hope they don't tamper with it, and I hope it finds its audience.
Geembobble: What made you choose Luke Goss for the role of Nomak in Blade II when everyone else thought of him as a singer from Bros?
Guillermo: I think of actors depending on the role, and I don't judge them for what they do before. A star is a star, if he's in the right role. Luke Goss came to the interview and instantly, the same day, I offered him the part. I was undaunted by his menudo-like past. [...]
MonkeyBoy: I would have loved to see more of Donnie Yen kicking ass in Blade 2. Were more scenes shot that we didn't see?
Guillermo: I would have loved to see Donnie kick more ass too, but he choreographed two of the fights, and then had to leave for a prior commitment. So our time in Donnie-Yen-Land was limited. I sure would love to write an entire movie for that guy. Donnie Yen is a god. [...]

On David Goyer's "Blade : Trinity"
I’ve seen the whole movie and I enjoyed the hell out of it. The thing I love the most about it is that its different, each of the Blade movies has been different to the others. [Director, David] Goyer has a very sardonic, very brutal sense of humour and it’s a different movie. I think it’s going to be quite a trip for the audience.
On a possible return to the "Blade" franchise
I would love to go back and do a fourth ballistic Blade - vampires all over the world - but who the hell knows.

[18.10.2003] DH zitiert 'Sneaky Pete'...
"I was on a TV set in North Vancouver BC the other night, and whilst there I found someone connected to one of the animal wranglers on Blade III. Seems there will be Rotweiller vampire dogs in the upcoming sequel and apparently the dogs will be of the same type of super vampire (ie. The Reapers) as the ones in the last movie, you know the ones with the head splitting act. There is a scene where Kris Kristofferson is bound up and the dog wakes him up, at some point a command is given and the dog's head splits open as it feigns an attack at Kris. The script sounds pretty cool, and I can hardly wait to see the FX on the dogs".

[18.10.2003] Fangoria meldet...
Ryan Nicholson of the Vancouver-based Flesh & Fantasy makeup FX house called up with the scoop on a bunch of new projects they’re involved with. First and foremost is BLADE: TRINITY, currently lensing in the Canadian city. "We’re working with Bill [FREDDY VS. JASON] Terezakis on that," Nicholson tells Fango. "A company called Spectral Motion [headed by veteran artist Mike Elizalde, and also known for its model kit work] is doing the makeup FX, and Bill is the local coordinator. Bill and Flesh & Fantasy are creating 19 background bodies that are shrink-wrapped, almost, in blood bags, that the vampires feed on. They’re not actually dead, but kept alive with tubes in their throats... it’s a really weird scene." [...]

[14.10.2003] Bei Fangoria gibt es ein Interview mit Jessica Biel...

[07.10.2003] Cinescape meldet...
The Vancouver Sun newspaper has published the names of more actors who have been hired to star in BLADE: TRINITY. Joining the previously announced ensemble consisting of Wesley Snipes, Kris Kristofferson, Jessical Biel, Ryan Reynolds, Dominic Pursell, Triple H and Parker Posey are James Remar (2 FAST 2 FURIOUS), Callum Keith Rennie (MEMENTO), Natasha Lyonne (AMERICAN PIE 1 and 2), John Michael Higgins (BEST IN SHOW) and Steve Braun (THE SKULLS 3).
Additionally, the Sun also reveals details concerning the film's storyline -- so avert your eyes if you don't want to know 'em!
SPOILERS:
The pureblood vampire leader Frake Drake has orchestrated media attention on Blade's activities, making him appear to be a serial killer on the loose. Now the FBI is after Blade and to top it off, he's losing his powers.
END SPOILERS
The third BLADE movie will continue to film until early January.

[06.10.2003] MTV.com sprach mit Jessica Biel über "Blade 3"... Vorsicht SPOILER !!!
[...] "Blade 3" will be back-to-basics.
"We're reverting back to the original idea of 'Blade,' " she said [...]
"I think 'Blade 2' is great, but it kind of had a different vibe, a different feeling to it [and] a different look," she said. "All of the fighting, all of the costumes - this is back to the beginning. It's [a] clean slate. It's going to be very much like 'Blade.' "
One thing that'll help maintain continuity between the three "Blade" films is that David Goyer, who wrote all of them, has now taken over directorial duties.
Biel promised that Goyer's approach to "Blade 3"'s many action sequences will eschew the recent trend of "Matrix"- and "Crouching Tiger"-like theatrics in favor of more visceral fisticuffs.
"The action is gritty," she said. "It's raw. It's real. [There are] no wires, no flying people on trees. We're talking old-school boxing techniques and real-life street fighting. That's what's [really] gonna make it back-to-basics.
"And I think that's what the action genre [and] the action [fan] community is looking for," she said. "It's great, all this cool [wire work and computer-generated] stuff, it looks great, it's different. But we need to go back. It's time to go back."
In the movie, Biel plays Abigail, the tough, vampire-killing daughter of Kris Kristofferson's Abraham Whistler character. She's part of a team of human vampire hunters called The Nightstalkers (which also includes "Van Wilder" star Ryan Reynolds) who join forces with Blade to stop the vampires' latest nefarious plot. Apparently, Biel's team is so kick-ass that there have even been whispers of a possible "Nightstalkers" spinoff flick.
"We're training our butts off to make this movie [look] realistic - to make [it] look like we can do these martial arts and [like] we can carry these heavy guns and these big arrows, these bows that I carry. It's gonna be rockin'."
In addition to Biel, Snipes and Reynolds, the "Blade 3" cast will include Parker Posey ("Josie and the Pussycats") and Dominic Purcell ("Mission: Impossible II"), who'll play the Dracula-like, über-vampire Frank Drake, who is awakened from a long slumber.
"Blade" fans will have to wait until next fall to see the movie [...]

[10.09.2003] HollywoodReporter.com meldet...
Dominic Purcell has signed on to play Wesley Snipes' vampire nemesis in New Line Cinema's upcoming "Blade: Trinity." Purcell is the latest addition to a cast that includes Kris Kristofferson, Jessica Biel and Ryan Reynolds. The third installment of the Marvel Comics-based franchise is being written and directed by David Goyer. "Trinity" is being produced by Goyer, Snipes, Lynn Harris and Peter Frankfurt. Emmerich and New Line production exec Cale Boyter are overseeing the project, with production scheduled to start this month in Vancouver. Purcell has appeared in such films as "Mission: Impossible II" and "Equilibrium" as well on the small screen in the Fox television series "John Doe." Purcell is repped by Endeavor and Untitled Entertainment.

[27.08.2003] DH meldet...
The Hollywood Reporter indicates Jessica Biel will play the daughter of Whistler (Kris Kristofferson).

[01.07.2003] Bei Creature Corner gibt es eine recht positive "Blade III" Script-Review (3.5/5)... Vorsicht SPOILER !!!
[...] 'Blade III' is a finale befitting of our favorite Daywalker.
This tale opens as the previous two have begun...vampires up to no good. The vampire higher ranks (Danica, Asher, Grimwood) are resurrecting something fierce in the deserts of Iraq. Something to lead them into the light of day without all those nasty repercussions. That something is the creature popularly known as Dracula. The first. The one who started it all. But make no mistake, he may have been known as Dracula...once...but that legend we're all familiar with is all but a minuscule notch in this creature's history. He's animalistic. He's been around for centuries and, boy, does he have a few tricks up his sleeve [...]

[21.06.2003] SHH! berichtet, dass der Titel des 3. Teils angeblich "Blade: Trinity" heissen soll...

[02.06.2003] CS! meldet...
David Goyer, who wrote all three installments of New Line Cinema's "Blade" franchise, will get his chance to direct with Blade III. Goyer and star Wesley Snipes haven't met to sign off on dates, but the studio expects to begin production in Vancouver this summer.
In the third installment of the franchise, Blade must reverse an apocalyptic event that threatens to bring Earth under the vampires' control. [...]

[28.03.2003] CBR News meldet...
Filmmaker David Goyer told Comics2Film/CBR News that the final chapter of the "Blade" trilogy should roll cameras later this year. The script for "Blade III" has been turned in and Goyer tells us it "very well received."
The next job is to hire a director, which may or may not be the screenwriter himself. "We're talking about the director situation now -- but however it pans out, we will probably be shooting by September," Goyer said.
The filmmaker made his directing debut last year with the as-yet-unreleased movie "Zigzag."

[31.10.2002] Comics2Film meldet...
Filmmaker David Goyer tells Comics2Film that Marvel has approved the story ideas pitched for the Blade III movie. As we reported in August, a few obscure Marvel characters are planned for the franchise finale.
"[It] looks like Hannibal King and Frank Drake (a.k.a. the Nightstalkers) from the Tomb of Dracula comic will be making an appearance in the third film" [...]

"Blade 3"...
For Blade III, have you abandoned your post-vampire apocalypse idea?
I didn't entirely abandon it. We just decided that instead of jumping forward 20 years, one of the things that's fun about Blade is that it's somewhat set in the real world. The first movie more so than the second film, but we decided it would be more interesting to have that struggle happen in the brink in our time. There is a kind of vampire apocalypse that's happening but the new take on Blade III is that it's in process right now rather than they've already won. We just decided that would be more interesting ultimately.
Did you ever consider directing the third Blade?
We had talked about it, but in this instance, I'm producing the Blade movies now as well and I'd rather write it and produce it and not have the headache of having to be there for 100 days in a row.
Could that get going soon?
Wesley's really anxious to do another soon as well because they're just hard on him. He got hurt during the second one. He hurt his knee and we don't want to wait another three years like we did between the first and the second one.

[03.07.2002] Blickpunkt:Film meldet...

[01.06.2002] Comics2Film meldet...
Filmmaker David Goyer told Comics2Film that he's working out the story for Blade III. In previous interviews, Goyer and company said they hoped to set the sequel in a near-future world where the vampires had gained the upper hand and now rule the world.
"It's been modified somewhat from the 'Planet of The Vampires' approach," Goyer told C2F. "I'm pretty excited about it, though."

We're already talkin'. They're trying to put the story together and inking the paper right now. The brother (Screenwriter David Goyer) has a lot of faith in himself! But Blade is finally getting laid in Blade 3, I can tell you that! That's the undercover scoop. Yeah, Blade gets it on, he is getting busy. No more babes turning into dust when the sun hits them! It was like hey babee, you're dusty. What's goin' on?

Marvel Enterprises conducted a conference call earlier today to discuss the recently posted 2001 earnings report. Although the focus of the call was not on Marvel movies, Marvel Studios head Avi Arad did talk about the company's various Hollywood dealings. "Studios are clamoring for our properties," Arad told investors. [...] "Each one of these movies prove that our franchises lend themselves to becoming sequels again and again," Arad said. He reported Blade 3 is already in the works. Hulk 2 is also in development and targeted for a May, 2005 release.

[...] The difference between BLADE 2 and most sequels that you see is that Guillermo wasn’t interested in making a sequel to BLADE. He wanted to make a vampire that you could be afraid of again. Not some guy with extended canines, but something you would run in mortal fear of. He wanted to create a swallower of souls... something from the inky black parts of your mind. Something new.
BLADE has subtle romance... platonic bonds... machismo posturing... and just an insane amount of ass-kicking. [...]

[17.03.2002] Bei AICN gibt es eine positive Kritik...
[...] Is it a vampire movie? No. This is something completely and totally different. This is something unbelievable. This is a comic book movie. An amazing comic book movie. A fucking four color whirling dervish wonderland of a comic book movie that takes you frame by frame through the comic book action sequences of your wildest dreams and leaves you panting in your seat. These are the sequences you envisioned while reading Wolverine and praying someone would make a movie out of the series.
Blade II is a bloody rampage of vampire-fucking up the likes of which you have never seen. Remember that club scene that was so freaking cool in the original Blade? Don't you wish you could see a movie that was just 2 hours of that only twice as cool and moody. Well, that's pretty much Blade II. [...]

"[...] In BLADE 3, the vampires are the status quo. They’ve imprisoned all the humans. The humans are the slave force and are in concentration camps... things like that. In a way, BLADE 3 would sort of go the way of THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS. In the first DARK KNIGHT story, nobody’s heard from Batman in 10 years and the world has kind of gone to shit."

"Blade 3"...
[...] 'I've always had in mind an idea for the third one that takes it into really uncharted territory and I'm curious to see if New Line will go for it or not 'What I really want to do for the third one is set it about 20 years in the future and the vampires have actually completely taken over the world, so they are the status quo. Because Blade is actually half-vampire, he ages at a slower rate, so Wesley can still play himself... In all these different stories the vampires are trying to take over the world... For the third film I just want to say, "Fuck it, they've won. Now what is the world like?"' [...]

I saw it last night, and it is cool from the start to the end. If you liked the first one, you'll love this one. If you hated the first one, you still might love this one. The film is fast, violent as shit, and filled with the sort of cool one-liners and action beats that turn films into geek favorites. This feels like the ALIENS of the BLADE franchise, bigger and more dangerous than the orinigal, and filled with characters who can kick some serious ass when the time comes. [...] Overall, this was a hell of a lot more fun than I expected walking into the theater, and I can't wait to see it finished and slick and with the sound effects and score mixed properly. The use of the CG stuntmen is awesome, and seems to scoop SPIDER-MAN by a full two months.

[...] "What's the deal with these Reapers?" I said something like, "They're vampires, but they go to eleven." But, to clarify what Reapers are, I deferred to a Blade 2 character, Dr. Carter Stevens. There's a short scene early in film - don't worry, this is non-spoiler - in which Eli Damaskinos, Grand Chancellor of the Shadow Cabinet, has Dr. Stevens, a specialist with the National Institute of Health, explain to Blade and Nyssa exactly what they're up against. Says Carter, "As you know, vampirism is a progressive virus that's spread through the saliva of various parasitic organisms... In this case (the Reaper virus), vampires are the vector through which the virus is spread. The vampire virus replicates within its human host, changing the host's cells on a molecular level, evolving the host into an entirely new life-form. Unfortunately viruses themselves have a tendency to evolve. And, like any good pathogen, it appears to have found a carrier. A 'patient zero' - Jared Nomak." So, there you have it, straight from Damaskinos' scientist. [...]

[...] The action was first rate with Blade kicking the shit out of anybody who so much as looked at him funny. The Bloodpack kicked ass (literally) and the Reapers were the scariest things to hit the screen in a long time (think bald headed albino vampires crossed with the Predator). Overall decent acting and some really funny lines and situations sprinkled throughout (Blade bitch slapping Reinhardt was classic). I loved the special effects (which were not all completed) including some of the CGI "jump" scenes and the Reapers nasty mouth work. Basically, if you enjoyed the first film you will probably go crazy over this one. It delivers! [...]

[20.11.2001] IGN FilmForce berichtet, dass der "Blade 2"-Trailer im Vorprogramm von "Der Herr der Ringe: Die Gefährten" laufen wird...

[14.11.2001] AICN hat einige neue Infos...
[...] I was mildly into the original BLADE, I thought the opening sequence was awesome beyond words, but felt that it never really lived up to that for the rest of the film. There was no real compelling narrative for me to care about. That is all changed here.
This has a strong female character that doesn't feel like wallpaper. It has badasses that kick as much or more ass than BLADE and what is happening in their world is just amazing to watch.
The production design has been exquisite in everything I've seen. Very Mignola. Guillermo Del Toro seemed to have a lot of fun on this one. Currently a trailer is being readied as is a poster [...]

Director Guillermo Del Toro had seen an illustration of Bradstreet's that had a similar tattoo and wanted this character to have that look. Other characters in the Bloodpack include Priest, who fought under Napoleon in the 7th Hussars; Lighthammer, a tattooed Maori tribesman; and Verlaine, the twin sister of the Traci Lords character from the first film".

Tippett's Jim Bloom told The Continuum that the studio is working on upwards of 75 effect shots for Blade 2, which is being directed by Guillermo del Toro. "Stuff is looking incredibly great," Bloom told The Continuum. "We're crazy about Guillermo and we have a great relationship with him." Bloom said that Craig Hayes and Blair Clark are supervising the effects work at Tippett. Both have visited the filming in Prague.
"'I was attracted to the idea of making vampires scary again [...] They have become almost gothic romance heroes a la Anne Rice. I wanted to find the animal component again: something that just wants to drink your blood and kill you. [...] The style I like is a more contemplative and atmospheric approache [...] But in Blade 2 I am doing action and horror, so it's a good combination. I'm making the camera much freer."

[12.06.2001] Bei Coming Attractions gibt es das "Blade 2" - Promo Logo... Man achte auf den Untertitel: "Bloodhunt"... Also doch !?!

[05.06.2001] Bei Dark Horizons gibt es ein Script Review zu "Blade 2"...
"The script rocks from the opening sequence. It's a worthy follow-up, taking place 18 months after the events of the first movie. [...] Probably what I enjoyed best about this was the fact that Blade, while still a tight-ass, did manage to display an occasional dry comment of sarcasm or wit. He was a bit more relaxed this time. Blade: Bloodhunt will not disappoint!"

"We don't have to be bothered by any of the back story... So in some ways, we have more screen time for Blade. In the first movie, you didn't see Blade for the first six or seven minutes. In this movie, he's on screen immediately, and the story is off and running. [...] Deacon Frost is mentioned once in the script, but I don't know if that will stick..."
