Jahre nachdem der Ex-FBI-Agent Will Graham (Edward Norton, u.a.

Dino De Laurentiis verfilmte Thomas Harris "Hannibal"-Prequel "Behind the Mask" (vormals: "The Lecter Variation: The Story of Young Hannibal Lecter"): "Hannibal Rising - Wie alles begann" (vormals: "Behind the Mask - Young Hannibal") startete am 15.

In naher Zukunft kommt NBC's TV-Serie "Hannibal"...

[13.09.2011] Wie CS! meldet, ist eine "Hannibal Lecter" TV-Serie in Arbeit... *g*
French studio Guamont has announced the creation of Gaumont International Television (GIT), marking its foray into worldwide television production and distribution. Based in Los Angeles, GIT will be led by Katie O'Connell as CEO and Richard Frankie as COO.
A number of projects are already in development, including "Hannibal," a one-hour drama written by Bryan Fuller, and "Madame Tussaud," a six-hour mini-series from Michael Hirst.
O'Connell previously served as executive VP of drama programming for NBC Entertainment. Prior to that she was the executive VP of development and current programming for Imagine Entertainment. Frankie most recently was the executive VP of business operations at Sony Pictures Television. He also held senior level positions at Buena Vista Home Video and Universal Television. Working alongside O'Connell and Frankie is Erik Pack, based in London, who will head international distribution and co-production for the company. Pack previously served as executive VP of international sales and co-productions at Power.
"As we looked to expand our global presence in television it became clear that the next logical step was to launch Gaumont International Television. As a leading independent studio we are looking to build a company that is nimble, global and creative in this ever changing television landscape," commented Gaumont's CEO, Sidonie Dumas, and vice CEO, Christophe Riandee. "With Katie and Richard's background in the US television market, both from a creative and business perspective, and with Erik in London overseeing our distribution and co-production, and our French team, we feel we are well positioned to produce and offer top-quality entertainment that will succeed globally."
"Hannibal" will center on Lecter's early days, namely his time going head-to-head with FBI agent Will Graham. The back story between the two characters were alluded to in Thomas Harris' novel "Red Dragon" and the films Manhunter and Red Dragon.
Martha De Laurentiis (Hannibal Rising, Red Dragon) will produce the show.

Is Anthony Hopkins going to moisturize his mug in a slab of human face flesh, again?
Fuck no. He saw "Hannibal Rising" too remember.
About 48-hours-ago a news item surfaced suggesting the 71-year-old actor was set to reprise his signature role, that of greasy-haired maniac Hannibal Lecter, for a fourth time. And according to so-called official sources, Ridley Scott, who directed the lackluster but successful "Hannibal", was eyeing a return to the director's chair. Oh, and Cate Blanchett is the frontrunner to play Clariiiiiiiiiice..
Dubious? You betcha - and the story isn't just far-fetched, it's as false as my grandmother's teeth.
Not to say the story is a fake - it isn't, in fact it's quite real; even the quotes are legit.... thing is, it's a story from seven years ago. [...]

[01.02.2007] MTV.com berichtet über mögliche "Hannibal Rising"-Sequels...
[...] if "Hannibal Rising" super-producer Dino de Laurentiis has his way, the fourth story - five if you count remakes - about Hannibal Lecter is just beginning. "I presume that we created a success with this new franchise about young Hannibal Lecter, and I want to start to think about going ahead with the story," de Laurentiis told MTV News. With this month's "Rising," fans learn the origins of Anthony Hopkins' classic "Silence of the Lambs" character, who is played in the new film by Gaspard Ulliel. De Laurentiis says Hannibal could become an even bigger evil superstar with more series installments. "How many James Bond [movies are] there? ... Every two years a James Bond movie [seemingly] comes out," de Laurentiis reasoned, adding that any future Lecter story would likely center on the unusual relationship between Lecter and his "Rising" love interest, Gong Li. "You see in the movie that ... it's an attraction, but nothing serious happens," de Laurentiis said. "In the future, maybe something happens, if we go with [another sequel]." [...]

[20.10.2006] Bei AICN gibt es eine Kritik zu einer Testvorführung von "Hannibal Rising" (vormals: "Young Hannibal: Behind the Mask")...
[...] Gaspard Ulliel is excellent as Young Hannibal. The period setting is remarkable. The cinematography by Ben Davis is as gorgeous as Gong Li. The script by Thomas Harris grabs you and leads you deeper into the legend of Lecter. The audience seemed overall pleased and I hope they change not a frame. Far superior to Red Dragon. As good as Hannibal. One of the most entertaining movies I have seen this year. [...]

Vorsicht SPOILER !!!
[...] The general consensus was that while the film had a somewhat positive reaction, the title was just panned by everyone and I couldn't agree more. Young Hannibal: Behind The Mask sounds like a really bad Fox Tuesday Night Movie.
I get the feeling though this film is going to be marketed in the wrong way. The horror fad for the last few years has been that "survival" horror with the likes of Saw, Hostel, See No Evil, and the Hills Have Eyes remake as the faces of that type of horror film. This is a very European style film which could hurt it. It's a revenge movie, but only does this plot really kick off until the middle of the film. Hannibal's story is a tragic one but when you start feeling sympathy for a character who is supposed to be the modern equivalent to Sherlock Holmes' arch nemesis Moriarty then it gets weird- I donno shades of Episode One I guess.
I have no idea when this film is going to come out but it can use some work, but overall it was entertaining and certainly a step up from Hannibal and Red Dragon but no where near Silence or even Manhunter.
It would have been nice though to see maybe a two minute Epilogue with Anthony Hopkins playing Hannibal in the 1980s when he was a criminal psychologist working with the FBI and him having a certain census taker for dinner. You know, just to bridge the gaps in this ever folding Star War...Hannibal saga. [...]

[23.11.2005] Bei DH gibt es ein Interview mit Gong Li, u.a. über ihre Rolle in "Young Hannibal"...
[...] "I guess I play yet another sort of bad woman. In this case her role is to introduce the young Hannibal to a certain kind of world - a kind of life as it were - and so she has a very strong influence on his later development, as we see him in the other films, grow up to be an adult. And so it's through this kind of relationship, and maybe a bit of romance even, that she has a very strong impact on the shaping of his personality". In that role she'll speak English with a British accent.

[05.09.2005] CS! meldet...
AlloCiné reports that French actor Gaspard Ulliel (A Very Long Engagement, pictures) is a candidate to play the title role in director Peter Webber's Young Hannibal, a prequel to the Hannibal Lecter series which tells the story of the formative years of Lecter, revealing the origins of the now legendary character.
Young Hannibal is based on the upcoming book "Behind the Mask" by Thomas Harris, to be released on November 29. Filming is scheduled to begin on September 15th in Lithuania, Czech Republic and France. [...]

[31.03.2005] CS! meldet...
When it rains, it pours, and Chinese actress Gong Li ("Farewell My Concubine", "Raise the Red Lantern") is certainly going to be busy over the next few months, as she has been cast in two major Hollywood movies.
First, she will play the role of a crime figure of Chinese and Cuban descent in the Michael Mann-directed "Miami Vice" for Universal. [...]
After that, she will play Lady Murasaki, the Japanese woman who teaches cultural sophistication to a young Hannibal Lecter in "Behind the Mask", the prequel to the Lecter franchise, which is being scripted by author Thomas Harris, who wrote the books on which the first three movies ("Silence of the Lambs", "Red Dragon", and "Hannibal") were based. The latter is directed by Peter Webber ("Girl with a Pearl Earing") and it will begin production in Prague in September.
Dino and Martha De Laurentiis said director Webber was looking for an exotic new face for "Behind the Mask," which shows how Hannibal the Cannibal developed his sense of culture as well as a taste for human flesh. After the young Hannibal escapes from an orphanage and runs away to Paris, he takes refuge at the home of his uncle. His wife, Lady Murasaki, becomes the sociopath's teacher. [...]
