[13.12.2003] Bei Latino Review gibt es ein Interview mit Julie Walters...
[...] How was it working with Alfonso Cuaron as opposed to Chris Columbus?
Walters: I’ve got hardly anything in the third one, but I have more in the fourth. We start next year, but I’ve only got a couple of lines in the third one. Hello! That’s one of them. (Laughs) Hi! Good to see you! That could be the other one. I didn’t get to know Alfonso that much, but he was lovely. Christopher Columbus was very concerned that whoever took over had to be right for the children. Alfonso is gorgeous with the kids. He’s really nice. It will definitely have a different feel. We had a French costume designer. The Weasley’s are so chic. I still have my poncho! (Laughs) But it hangs in a different way because it has these beads that pull it down, just gorgeous. He got the boys looking more real. The twins have acne and things like that. They are teenagers. It’ll definitely have a different feel, but I really don’t know how different it will be. I did so little on it, but I can’t wait to see it.

[10.12.2003] Bei DH gibt es ein Interview mit dem HP4-Regisseur Mike Newell...

[09.12.2003] SF Wire zitiert den HP4-Regisseur Mike Newell...
[...] he has spoken with Alfonso Cuarón, director of the upcoming third film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, to make sure his film picks up where Cuarón's leaves off. Production of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire will begin in late April or early May, with Daniel Radcliffe (Harry), Rupert Grint (Ron) and Emma Watson (Hermione) reprising their roles. "They're all actually the age they are in the story," Newell said in an interview.
"What Alfonso has done very remarkably is he's developed the films from a sunny vision of childhood into something that is much darker and blacker," Newell said. "And he's done that without taking away any of the romance of the thing. But he has transformed it into adolescence, and I must go on from what he's done. [I] can't go back."
Newell added that he is currently in preproduction, dealing with creature design. "I am currently working with dragons," he said.

[05.12.2003] Bei ic Liverpool gibt es Interview mit dem Zauberer Paul Kieve, der nicht nur Daniel Radcliffe das Zaubern beibrachte, sondern auch eine kleine Rolle in HP3 spielt...

[03.12.2003] IMDb PeopleNews meldet...
Harry Potter star Jason Isaacs has no idea if his character will make an appearance in the fourth installment of the magical franchise - and neither do the movie's producers. The British star - who played evil Lucius Malfoy in both The Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber Of Secrets - was not required by new Potter director Alfonso Cuaron for third movie The Prisoner Of Azkaban. But he's still hoping that when fourth film The Goblet Of Fire is made, he will return. He says, "Just as we were finishing Chamber of Secrets, Alfonso Cuaron came along and I got to shake hands with him and that was about it. Then they started Azkaban. I'm sure they had a whale of a time. But I don't know what's happening with Goblet of Fire. I phoned to find out and they said, 'We've no idea, sorry. The scripts are just coming in...' There's 700 pages or something that they have to make a two-hour movie from, so I don't know whether they're going to put Lucius Malfoy in or not. If I thought begging would do any good, I'd be out there every day. But that would probably just irritate them."

[04.10.2003] Contactmusic.com berichtete kürzlich...
Longtime HARRY POTTER fans are set for a shock when they see new movie the PRISONER OF AZKABAN - because it contains a romance that wasn't in JK ROWLING's book.
Movie bosses added scenes where RON WEASLEY and HERMIONE GRAINGER begin to fall in love in order to "sex up" the blockbuster series.
In the new movie, the young pair begin to notice each other when Ron, played by RUPERT GRINT, starts paying a lot of attention on Hermione's pet cat CROOKSHANKS.
Rupert says, "We get on pretty well to begin with, but then the cat comes along and we start arguing all the time."
An insider tells British tabloid THE DAILY STAR SATURDAY, "We felt the romance adds a bit of drama, but there aren't any real love scenes."

[...] The scene being shot was obviously the scene where Malfoy upsets Buckbeak and is attacked. During the rehearsal, we behind the fence could easily see Malfoy (Tom Felton) walking in front of the care of magical creatures class. We saw him move away from the group then we saw a man in red leap at him waving his arms - Felton fell very theatrically onto the ground and the scene was finished. They went though this scene quite a few more times. Then, the stagehands brought on a giant plastic hippogriff - possible to get an eyelevel, we could see some of the extras laughing and joking with the plastic 12-foot eagle. [...]

[11.08.2003] HollywoodReporter.com meldet...
Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that helmer Mike Newell is on board to direct the studio's fourth installment of the "Harry Potter" franchise: "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." "Goblet of Fire" is due to begin lensing in April in England with a late 2005 release date pegged. The announcement comes as filming is currently underway on the third film in the series -- "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" -- under the direction of helmer Alfonso Cuaron. According to the studio, the production schedules for "Azkaban" and "Goblet" will overlap, making it "infeasible" for the same director to oversee both projects. Newell becomes the first British filmmaker to direct one of the films based on British author J.K. Rowling's "Potter" series, which is entirely set in the United Kingdom. The move had been expected.

[07.08.2003] The Mirror berichtet über den "neuen" Dumbledore...
[...] Wise wizard Prof Dumbledore doesn't seem to have changed much although the costume jewellery and tasselled skullcap make him look like a New Age hippy in The Prisoner of Azkaban.
Dame Maggie Smith, who stars again as Prof McGonagal, said: "He has the same hair and make-up because Dumbledore is Dumbledore and if you don't portray him the way the kids think he should be portrayed, they get really cross." [...]

[...] To prepare for the older, bolder "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," Radcliffe has been listening to the Sex Pistols - which broke up 11 years before he was born - as well as edgy new acts like the Strokes and the Dandy Warhols. He’s also watching Francois Truffaut ("The 400 Blows") and Vittorio De Sica ("The Bicycle Thief") to get a handle on Harry’s "feelings of hopelessness." [...]
"Alfonso is much more gritty than Chris ever was," says Watson. "He’s really into the idea that [shooting] should be fluid and natural. People can be eating an apple during a take." [...]
"Azkaban" is a spookier story than the first two - the soul-sucking dementors, who guard Azkaban Prison, make their first appearance - and Cuaron’s design team promises that the movie’s palette will reflect the gathering darkness. For Hogsmeade, set designer Stuart Craig labored to avoid a "pretty, chocolate-box" village, creating a main street that swerves zanily. Honeydukes, the candy store, is floor-to-ceiling psychedelia, with tangles of licorice and - a Cuaron touch - Mexican skulls made of sugar. (To prevent candy jars from magically emptying between takes, the cast has been told that the goodies are lacquer-coated. They’re not.) Cuaron also reimagined the role of Professor Dumbledore after Richard Harris’s death. British actor Michael Gambon now plays the Hogwarts headmaster as an elegant old hippie. [...]

[10.04.2003] CBBC Newsround meldet...
British actress Julie Christie will play Three Broomsticks barmaid Madam Rosmerta. And comedienne Dawn French, last seen in the Comic Relief Potter spoof, will now play the Fat Lady.
[...] Professor Trelawney will be in the film, but hasn't been cast yet. But they're still not sure if Cho Chang will appear or not.
Filming started six weeks ago, and it all seems to be going well.
Before Tuesday's launch Heyman says they finished a scene in the Gryffindor Common Room where Professor McGonagall is furious after Neville has left the password list lying aorund, as well as some of the Boggart scene.
[...] "Hagrid has a new look... He's got a waistcoat. His clothes are looking more like he made them himself, which indeed I'm sure he did."
Work is even starting on the fourth film. Screenwriter Steve Kloves started on the script for Goblet of Fire last week.
"The approach is that he's going to write the script as though it's one film," says Heyman. "And hopefully he'll be able to do that.
"When he gets to the end we'll make an assessment about whether that's the right thing to do or not. The goal is to try, if not we'll split it in two, but at the moment we're trying to do it in one.
"We will start pre-production towards the end of the year, and start sometime next year. And [it'll] come out a year, year and a half after the third film."
There's been lots of speculation about whether Dan, Emma and Rupert will return for the fourth movie. "My hope would be that it'll be the same cast, it's too early to tell though." is Heyman's comment. "We've only just started writing the screenplay. It's early days yet."
There have also been rumours that Chris Columbus who directed the first two films, but isn't directing the third, will return to direct the fourth.
"Maybe Film Five," says Columbus. "Four is starting a little too quickly, but Five is a possibility."

[09.04.2003] Die BBC meldet...
[...] David Heyman said pre-production on The Goblet Of Fire was proving so lengthy it might be too much for a single movie. [...]
He said: "We started work on the script last Monday. We're going to shoot it as one and see how it ends up. If it's too long then we'll make it into two." [...]

[03.04.2003] Bei DH gibt es einen kurzen Set-Report von Dan...
"Last night saw the filming of a scene from the new Harry Potter film near to London Bridge. A hose was being used to make it look like it was raining whilst filmed a red london bus looking like it was colliding with another car as they had two car headlights mounted on a trolley. Also managed to get a good look at the Knight Bus and it's driver which was parked round the corner. In the driver's window there was a spider hanging down and the driver looked quite gnomish with a bald head and white curly hair all around the sides".

[01.04.2003] Bei CBBC Newsround kann man einen Blick auf das Versteck von Hagrid in "HP3" werfen... SFGate.com sprach mit dem Produzenten David Heyman über den Wechsel in der Regie...
[...] Columbus is known for adorable kids' movies like "Home Alone, " while Cuaron made the sexy coming-of-age film "Y Tu Mama Tambien."
Heyman pointed out that in "Prisoner of Azkaban," the third in the Potter series, Harry and his pals have become teenagers. "Alfonso dealt with boys at the end of adolescence in his last movie, and in 'Harry Potter' he will deal with boys at the beginning, so there's a logical connection," Heyman said. Cuaron will have more time to craft his "Potter" installment than his predecessor. "Prisoner of Azkaban" won't be out until June 2004.
Gary Oldman, not known for appearing in children's movies, shares title- role honors with Harry. Oldman plays Harry's godfather, Sirius Black, who was framed for the deaths of Harry's parents and banished to Azkaban without a trial. "It's great being on the set," he told us. "It's like joining a family." [...]

[26.03.2003] CS! meldet...
Variety says that Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Troy and Thunderbirds, all shooting in the U.K., are facing the threat of a walkout by construction workers in a protest over pay and conditions.
Hundreds of freelance set painters, carpenters and builders have handed in their notice to quit, and will put down their tools at the end of the day Friday unless the dispute is resolved.
Their action has been prompted by anger that pay has not increased since 1999. They also are unhappy about working a standard 50-hour week, which is illegal in many European countries.
Negotiations are under way with the films' producers for a settlement.

Scouting in Borough Market took place a few weeks back and now they're shooting, so 'Alex' has details on what's taking place: "They have been filming there tonight, and it will continue tomorrow. It is all second unit stuff and none of the main cast will be there till tomorrow. The lockup I mentioned before has been disguised totally with a false wall. The fishmongers next to it has been re-painted as the third hand book store. The Market Porter pub has not been touched and is also being shot externally. The scenes they have been filming all involve the Knight Bus with Harry on board racing down a wet street before stopping and nudging a Citroen forward a bit".

[24.02.2003] CS! berichtet über ein Feuer am Set...
Firefighters on Sunday extinguished a swathe of burning moorland around a Scottish Highland viaduct being used as a location in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, reports the Associated Press. Police said the fire, which started Saturday, was put out at about 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Members of the film crew were working at Glenfinnan Viaduct near Fort William in northwest Scotland when the fire started. It quickly spread to more than 100 acres of surrounding land.
No one was injured in the fire, and local residents who were evacuated Saturday have been allowed to return home, police said.
A Northern Constabulary spokesman said experts were still trying to establish the cause of the fire. A steam train - the Hogwarts Express which carries Harry and his classmates to wizard school - was being used in filming when the blaze broke out.
The towering viaduct was the setting for the flying-car scenes in last year's Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

[13.01.2003] Der Hollywood Reporter sprach kürzlich mit dem "HP3"-Regisseur Alfonso Cuaron...
[...] As he preps for a February start date, Cuaron has no qualms about staying within the boundaries of a PG rating, which may require some cinematic sleight of hand because author J.K. Rowling's "Potter" series grows progressively more ominous as it progresses.
"I don't know if 'dark' is the word for it because there's a great deal of humor (in the third tale)," Cuaron says. "I would say that rather than going into darker territory, it goes into more emotional territory. Because the characters are a little bit more grown up, the experience is completely different. In the first two books, the fear was outside, like a boogie man. But here, the fear comes from inside. When you're 13, you stop believing in the boogie man and start dealing with the monsters inside." [...]

[06.01.2003] Daniel Ebner schrieb uns...
