[29.12.2005] CS! meldet...
"Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling has updated her official website with a note saying that she's getting ready to write the seventh and final book in the popular series.
"For 2006 will be the year when I write the final book in the Harry Potter series," she says. "I contemplate the task with mingled feelings of excitement and dread, because I can't wait to get started, to tell the final part of the story and, at last, to answer all the questions (will I ever answer all of the questions? Let's aim for most of the questions); and yet it will all be over at last and I can't quite imagine life without Harry."
Rowling adds that she's been working hard on preparing for the big project.
"I have been fine-tuning the fine-tuned plan of seven during the past few weeks so that I can really set to work in January. Reading through the plan is like contemplating the map of an unknown country in which I will soon find myself. Sometimes, even at this stage, you can see trouble looming; nearly all of the six published books have had Chapters of Doom. The quintessential, never, I hope, to be beaten Chapter That Nearly Broke My Will To Go On was chapter nine, 'Goblet of Fire' (appropriately enough, 'The Dark Mark'.)"
At the movies, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire has earned $759.4 million worldwide. The next installment, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, is targeted for a June,2007 release.

[28.12.2005] Blickpunkt:Film berichtet über die internationalen Kinocharts...

[26.12.2005] Digital Spy meldet...
Ralph Fiennes is set to keep the ever-increasing role of Voldemort in the Potter films.
Director David Yates is starting filming for the Order of the Phoenix next month, though Fiennes will not be needed until September.
His eerie character is deeply evil but usually rarely seen - though the Daily Mail reports rumours that his role will be expanded in The Half-Blood Prince, set for production in 2007.
The last Potter book, as yet untitled by J. K. Rowling, is set to give an even bigger role to Voldemort. The Mail quotes a Hollywood executive: "The Voldemort plotline can't be left up in the air. There has to be this fantastic final confrontation between Harry and Voldemort that will finish off one of them, or both."
Fiennes has already been quietly approached to be in the last film, says the paper.

Dollar. [...]

[09.12.2005] MyMovies.net meldet...
Despite rave reviews and a staggering box office performance, one thing was missing in "Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire" - and that was Julie Walters as Mrs. Weasley. But the good news is that it looks like she will be back as the Weasley family matriarch in Harry‘s next big screen adventure "The Order Of The Phoenix".
We caught up with Julie at last night‘s premiere for "The Chronicles Of Narnia" and asked if she‘ll be returning? "Well it looks like it. They couldn‘t do without Mrs. Weasley for much longer, could they?" she told us before stressing how big a part the character plays in the fifth book. "She‘s even got her own chapter called The Woes Of Mrs. Weasley," Julie laughed.

Zuschauer.

[23.11.2005] CS! berichtet über den IMAX-Rekordstart von "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: The IMAX Experience"...

[21.11.2005] Blickpunkt:Film meldet...

Daniel Radcliffe has confirmed he will continue to play Harry Potter.
The 16-year-old says he will star in all seven films.
According to IMDb.com he said: "Ultimately it comes down to whether we're still enjoying it. If we are then I think we would be sort of stupid not to do them.
"As long as I'm doing other stuff around the same time, I think it'll be fine. Also, I sort of try to read the books when they come out impartially and not make up my mind, but the fact is when I was reading the sixth, Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, there were bits in there where I was going, 'God, I would love to do that because it's so good.'" [...]

SPOILER !!!
[...] Any worry I had about the tone of the film shifting more along the lines of the first two films were pushed out of mind before Harry Potter appears on the screen. I wouldn't say this is a hardcore PG-13 film, pushing the limits of the rating, but it's certainly dark and along the lines of THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, the good guys don't win by the end, just live to fight another day (at least some of them...) [...]
What's missing from the book is what SHOULD be missing from a film adaptation, in my opinion. Gone is Hermione's fight for the rights of the House Elves, gone is the majority of Rita Skeeter's libelous reporting (not all, but she pretty much disappears after the first Tri-Wizard Challenge). The movie centers on the Tri-Wizard Tournament, with each of the 3 challenges marking a turning point in each act of the film. [...]

[12.11.2005] Bei Yahoo! gibt es eine Kritik zu HP4...
[...] Newell achieves the same brilliant production values of his predecessors. Along with the brooding and at times ominous look by designer Stuart Craig and cinematographer Roger Pratt, Patrick Doyle contributes the best musical score of the series, one richly symphonic yet with a pop overlay that reminds us we are in a world of fantasy.

[...] This was the first Potter that really had that Lord of the Rings feel. Many times while watching the film I thought to myself "someone's taking a page from Jackson's playbook", which is exactly what they should be doing to as this 'children's story' grows up into a 'teenage story'. Things are scarier, things are darker, and things are generally, more freaking awesome. [...]

[...] what a ride it is. Clocking in at 2.5 hours, this is a great film - unquestionably the best of the series thus far. Personal opinion - it's also the best book of the series. I could have watched another hour and not gotten bored.
Potter fans will note there is A LOT missing from the book. But c'mon, it's about 700 pages. Of course they're gonna have to chop some stuff, otherwise the movie would be five hours (I wouldn't complain, myself). But while many things have been left out, nothing feels like it's missing. The movie stands on it's own very well. [...]

"The film prop was being stored under a tarpaulin. It was not in good condition and could not have been driven away under its own steam," the police spokesman said.

Dennoch...
[...] This is the best Harry Potter film so far. Part 1 was sweet, but took 1½ hour to get to the plot about the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone. Part 2 was darker and more concerned with the plot, but not really a much better film. Part 3 became even more darker and took some time holding its story together, but in the end became a cinematic, haunting winner. Part 4 has become as dark as black and is (thanks to the best and most exciting of all the Harry Potter books) a thrill ride from start to finish. If you thought part 3 was the weakest, you probably will not be very much happier with this, cause it is basically made in the same vain, but still with a much stronger and important story. Do you feel the same way as I do about the first three, there is a good chance you will enjoy the fourth as much as I did. If you look at the stories in book 5 or 6, they won't be able to make as good a couple of movies as "The Goblet of Fire" is. So catch it while you can - this really has to be seen on the big screen in all its un-sunny glory. This is an even more cinematic experience than part 3. Don't cheat your self...!
I really want to call it "the family film of the year", but, as stated before, this is really not a family film. Don't bring the small ones - the images and horrors are that strong! Bring your parents in stead - whatever their age. Cause this is an adult picture. And if it wasn't deamed unworthy just for being "a Harry Potter film", it could easily have become a dark horse for a Best Picture nomination for some of the many awards shows coming soon. That's the curse of being a fourth film in a "children's series". But it's their loss - and yours, if you don't see it! [...]

[...] Referring to the next installment in the series Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix , Heyman said, "with each of our films, we begin working on it before the other one comes out, so we've been working on this one for five months."
Heyman also said that "we are in negotiations with Imelda Staunton" for the role of Professor Umbridge in the next movie. Staunton said on ITV last week that she had been chosen for the role, but it now seems as though that announcement was somewhat premature.
Heyman confirmed that screenwriter Steve Kloves, who wrote the first four movie scripts, will return to script the sixth film adaptation, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. [...]

[...] he cast Ralph Fiennes as the dark lord Voldemort because of his ability to play the character as a realistic and frightening villain, rather than a simple caricature. "You have to have the actor to do it," Newell said in an interview. "And Ralph was the actor to do it, because Ralph doesn't chew the scenery, and he isn't a sort of 19th-century melodrama figure. [16.07.2005] Heute erscheint der 6. Band "Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince" in der englischen Fassung !!!
[...] The Comic-Con exclusive trailer opens with a nightshot of Hogwarts and talk of the pending tournament where other schools will be invited to participate. Clips shown included unfinished CGI on a carriage-like vehicle and some creatures and also offered the first shots of the new teacher for dark arts, Mad Eye Moody. One scene included was Harry's talk with a put-out Ron about how he did not submit his name for the tournament, but he was chosen anyway. There was also a shot of the big dance, with Harry, Ron and Hermione all spiffed up. Dragons, mermaids and a dash of Hagrid rounded out the exclusive look.

[...] Even with virtually none of the effects finished, the big Quidditch match is very exciting. I have a feeling the completed film will feature a much longer version of the game. Also barely realized but still thrilling are the TriWizard Tournament challenges, in particular the sequence that pits Harry against an angry dragon. There was the occasional glimpse of the finished dragon, and those moments gave me great hope for the finished product. The second challenge, set in a dark lake, was difficult for me to figure out exactly. There are all types of dangerous undersea creatures, but without the final effects, it was just too difficult to figure out who was attacking whom. [...]
This is the best one, folks. There’s really no two ways about it. The acting is so much better than the perfectly acting third film, and the story and emotions add such a layer to this already explosive series. [...]

[03.06.2005] FilmFocus.co.uk sprach mit Miranda Richardson...
[...] Richardson plays Rita Skeeter, the annoying and intrusive journalist for The Daily Prophet, in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, due out in November, "I enjoyed the books enormously," she told FilmFocus, "but Rita reads rather differently than how I played her.
[...] For all his magic powers, even Harry Potter must occasionally succumb to the petty burden of local government bureaucracy.
A highlight of the superhero's next film outing will (hopefully) see Potter, played by Daniel Radcliffe leading a high-speed broomstick chase, James Bond-style, down the Thames.
Unfortunately, the film's director, David Yates, who is currently masterminding pre-production, says that several local councils are refusing to play ball.
"So far, we have spent a lot of time on boats on the Thames," he tells me.
"I want to do a great big wizard chase past the London landmarks and it is going to be very exciting, but it has not been easy to set up.
"We need to secure the co-operation of 17 different councils, and some of them are doubtful at this stage.
"My location manager is going to spend the next four months trying to sort it all out - we don't start shooting until the spring." [...]

[12.04.2005] DH meldet...
Robbie Coltrane has hinted that he may not re-appear as the lovable giant Hagrid in the next Harry Potter book to be filmed, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" reports The Herald.
The actor said recently he was unsure whether he would rejoin the Potter franchise after this year's movie, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire," saying that "It's open to negotiations . . . I know the answer and it's 'I don't know'. That's that." He declined to comment any further on the future of the role, instead praising "Goblet of Fire", although he admitted it was a very complicated plot.
Meanwhile, author JK Rowling said she would soon be taking several months off to look after her new child and will not start writing the final Potter novel for some time. She said recently "I have just completed the very last tiny edits on Half Blood Prince so I'm now taking a few months off to concentrate on my new daughter (not to mention the old daughter and the not so old son)."

David Heyman, producer of the upcoming fourth Harry Potter movie, The Goblet of Fire, told SCI FI Wire that filmmakers, led by director Mike Newell, trimmed the 700-plus-page book by following a simple principle: "Anything that doesn't really relate to Harry and Harry's journey is less relevant." Speaking during a break in filming on the set at Leavesden Studios outside London earlier this month, Heyman added in an interview: "That's not to say that there're not minor detours. Inevitably there are. But there are certain things that we don't spend as much time with as they do in the book, just by the very nature of the material."
One example: The film will not deal with the subplot involving Winky and Dobby, two house elves, and the issue of elf liberation. "It's Hermione's issue," Heyman said. "Not to say Hermione's [not important]. Hermione's a vitally important character. But you have to make some choices. ... One piece of information ... we've put into another character, which feels perfectly organic [and] works. ... The story works perfectly without [the elf story]. And we consulted with Jo [Potter author J.K. Rowling] about it, and she was fine [with it]."
SCI FI Wire glimpsed a bit of filming during the recent set visit, including shooting inside the Weasleys' suprisingly spacious tent at the Quidditch World Cup. New sets for the film include the tent, a massive cemetery (where the film's climax takes place), a trophy room filled with silvered plaques and cups of various sizes, the Ministry Box at the Quidditch World Cup stadium, and a faux marble Trial Chamber, which rises several stories high. Filmmakers also constructed a large tank surrounded by green screens, where Daniel Radcliffe (Harry) and other actors performed underwater scenes, which will be enhanced with computer animation in post-production. And a massive Dragon Arena sits outdoors, where Harry and other contestants in the Triwizard Tournament will try to procure eggs from the flying beasts.
Hogwart's Great Hall, meanwhile, has been redressed for the Yule Ball, a big dance that occurs midway through the movie. Every surface has been silvered, with giant icicles to hang from the beams, and a giant Christmas tree sits at the head of the space. Heyman also revealed that the sequence will feature the Weird Sisters, a band consisting of singer Jarvis Cocker and members of the rock bands Radiohead and Pulp, which will give the movie a more hip feel.
"It's pretty interesting," Heyman said. "It's good. That's most definitely a different twist on the whole Potter thing. I think people will enjoy seeing the world getting bigger. I think the tasks are going to be great. And I think the kids [stars Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint] are better actors. They're just better actors, so you're seeing more nuance than you may have in the first film, and you saw more in the second and you saw more in the third."

[...] The next film, Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire - or Potter IV if you’re cool and hip and familiar enough to use the abbreviated title - is a massive undertaking, with the kibosh only recently being put on reports that the film was to be split in two, ala Kill Bill. Heyman told Empire "The fourth one is definitely the biggest of the films so far... we have two new schools; it is a mammoth film. We had to build a tank, for example, and Dan had to film underwater for six weeks." Presumably he was allowed to come up for air.
Given that the book for Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix is even larger than Goblet Of Fire, fledgling feature director David Yates must be, how do we put this eloquently? - Bricking it. But the charming Mr Heyman clued us in there, too. "The fifth book - I don’t know if it’s bigger; I think it’s comparable, but the films are bigger, the challenges are greater." [...]

The star of such gems as "Dangerous Ground", "Double Whammy" and "Serving Sara" (snigger) might've got a promotion to Hogwarts.
According to Dark Horizons, the eternally gorgeous Elizabeth Hurley (my wife tells me she's admitted only eating one meal a day - struth), is in talks to play an "evil witch" in the next "Harry Potter" pic, "Harry POtter and the Order of the Phoenix".
Apparently Liz is still 'thinking about it', which doesn't do the rumour much justice. Wouldn't someone who has done nothing but junk in recent years be rapt to have a role in today's biggest film franchise? Yup, you'd think so.
Hurley's last major role was in the "Bedazzled" redo, in 2000. She has only had two roles in the last three years, her latest film being "Method".
Harry Potter will be hoping this "Evil Witch" gives private tutorials.

Acclaimed British television helmer David Yates (State of Play, The Way We Live Now) has officially been signed to direct Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the fifth film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's beloved novel series, for Warner Bros. Pictures. The announcement was made today by Jeff Robinov, President of Production, Warner Bros. Pictures.
After garnering international attention and accolades for his award-winning short films, including earning a BAFTA nomination for his short Rank, Yates has become a prolific television director, helming the BBC's BAFTA-lauded series The Young Visiters, State of Play, The Way We Live Now and The Sins.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will be produced by David Heyman from a screenplay by Michael Goldenberg (Where the Wild Things Are, Peter Pan). Production on the film is expected to begin in England in January 2006. Heyman is currently producing Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which is in production in London under the direction of Mike Newell, and set for release on November 18, 2005.
"I am thrilled that David Yates is going to direct 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,'" Heyman said. "Not only does he have tremendous passion for the world of Harry Potter, but he is a great director with a keen visual sense who fills every frame with humanity and compassion for his characters."
"We've been fortunate to have worked with very talented directors on the first four Harry Potter films," Robinov added, "all of whom have brought these extraordinary stories to life with their own unique creative vision. We're looking forward to continuing that tradition with David Yates on 'Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.'"
