What the... !?!

Jurassic Park is returning to theaters with a full 3D conversion on July 19, 2013, Universal Pictures announced today.
Next summer marks the 20th anniversary of Steven Spielberg's now-classic adaptation of Michael Crichton's novel [...]
Collider sprach mit Steven Spielberg...
[...] Since no questions about Jurassic Park 4 came up, I caught up with Spielberg after the conference, in case he had finally decided to reveal something.
"I don’t want to talk about Jurassic Park 4 yet - it’s too early - but I can tell you that I’m not directing it. I’m producing it though."
One more attempt to coax more out of the director: Will Jurassic Park 4 be a reboot or a sequel and will it be released to mark the 20th anniversary of Jurassic Park?
"I can’t say. I will when the time is right, but for now I can’t talk about it."
Producer Kathleen Kennedy hinted to Steve last month that the long-awaited fourth installment may be in 3D. But when I asked Spielberg, he refused to confirm. But come on, dinosaurs in 3D? It was so meant to be. [...]
[...] At today's junket for The Adventures of Tintin, ComingSoon.net sat down with Spielberg for four glorious minutes of questions about his adaptation of Hergé's globe-trotting adventurer and we tried to quickly get in a question about their progress on Jurassic Park 4.
"I haven't been active in the last year because I've been so busy obviously on 'War Horse,' 'Tintin' and now I'm currently shooting 'Lincoln,' but right now, it's on the schedule to bring out another 'Jurassic Park.'"
Unfortunately, when we attempted to find out if it will continue on from the last movie or reboot and start from scratch, he couldn't tell us. "It's just another boring secret," he chuckled.
So yeah, sorry to say that we don't have much to add, although if Spielberg has it on his radar, that's certainly a good sign that maybe we'll see it sometime in the next few years? [...]
Heat Vision meldet...
Steven Spielberg has dinosaurs back on the brain lately. In addition to the impending launch of the television series Terra Nova on Fox in the fall, Spielberg has been meeting with screenwriter Mark Protosevich to kick around ideas for how to re-boot the Jurassic Park franchise.
Several years ago, the Oscar-winning director worked with Protosevich on a potential remake of Chan-wook Park's Oldboy that was to star Will Smith. That film ran into rights problems and didn't come to fruition, but Spielberg, who directed the first two Jurassic Park films and was an executive producer on the third, has since met twice with Protosevich to fashion a story for a potential fourth film in the franchise.
Both Universal, which released the trilogy, and Spielberg's camp stress that no one has been engaged to write a script and that the discussions have been purely exploratory. But the idea is kind of a no-brainer. [...]
With the recent rebirth of 3D and soaring improvements in digital design marshaled by everyone from Cameron to Pixar, Jurassic Park is ripe for evolution into a 21st century phenomenon.
Stampeding dinosaurs endangering humans, fighting each other and smashing things never gets old, and Cameron showed how far an ambitious filmmaker can push an integrated, immersive 3D world with Avatar. A new Spielberg-produced Jurassic Park that takes full advantage of those tools could be (pre)historic. [...]
A few photos of what appears to be the "Daily Shooting Schedule" production board on the Universal Studios lot have made their way online today. The board lists Jurassic Park 4 as shooting on stages "7, 10, 12, 14" and sites are speculating whether that's the case.
While we'd love for that to be true, we checked in with Universal Pictures who tell us there is no truth to this. We're not sure how that listing made it onto the board, though we would suspect it was done as a joke by someone.
BoxOffice.com sprach mit Joe Johnston, u.a. über "JP IV"...
[...] Well, there is going to be a Jurassic Park IV. And it's going to be unlike anything you've seen. It breaks away from the first three... it's essentially the beginning of the second Jurassic Park trilogy. It's going to be done in a completely different way. That's pretty much all I can tell you. [...]
Harry von AICN sprach mit Joe Johnston, u.a. über "Jurassic Park 4"...
Harry: [...] Speaking of JURASSIC PARK, are you thinking of heading into that fourth one after this?
Joe Johnston: Well, there is a great story for the fourth one that I would be interested in getting involved with and it’s nothing like the first three. It sort of takes the franchise off in a completely different direction, which is the only way I would want to get involved.
Harry: Another movie about a group of people struggling to survive a dinosaur attack is...
Joe Johnston: We’ve done that and it’s been done three times and I figure it’s...
Harry: Stay away from that island. Don’t go there!
Joe Johnston: Why would anybody go back to that island? It was hard enough to figure out the second and third reason for them to go, but it would take it off in a whole other trilogy basically, but when it gets to that level it’s sort of about studios and Steven’s thing and who knows. I think we are at that point where we are due for another one if we are going to do it. They had what four years between them? 1992... 1996 or 1997, and then 2001, so we are past due. I don’t know, but we will see. [...]
CS! sprach mit dem Produzenten Frank Marshall...
[...] We asked the producing vet whether the recent disappointing showing for Universal's Land of the Lost might hinder the development of a fourth "Jurassic Park" movie but he didn't seem worried about that, even though that movie isn't imminent. "I think 'Land of the Lost,' it was a comedy. We just have to see if they can come up with a story. We don't have a story." [...]
Producers Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy just revealed at today's junket for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button that plans have fallen through for a fourth entry in the "Jurassic Park" franchise.
When asked if there was any development on the long-anticipated sequel, Kennedy responded, "No... I don't know. You know, when Crichton passed away, I sorta felt maybe that's it. Maybe that's a sign that we don't mess with it."
Since Joe Johnston's Jurassic Park III in 2001, Universal has been developing a fourth outing in the successful franchise. The studio commissioned William Monahan and John Sayles to pen a script in '04. [...]
STYD zitiert Laura Dern...
[...] "It's a while away but my understanding is it's happening and my character is very involved. I know [director] Steven Spielberg is looking forward to [getting it together] over the next year."
Sam Neill is not expected to appear in the next film.
MTV.com zitiert Alessandro Nivola...
[...] It’s the most discussed on-again, off again sequel in recent memory, but if "Jurassic Park IV" ever DOES get made, one thing’s for sure, joked franchise castmember Alessandro Nivola, it sure as heck won’t include him. [...]
"If they were to bring my character back they would have a real problem," he laughed. "In the third one I got so gored by these pterodactyls! I think I would be like Mark Hamill in the last ‘Star Wars.’ I would have to be still wrapped in gauze throughout the movie.
"I imagine they are going to try to avoid that situation," Nivola concluded. [...]
Heute um 20.15 Uhr zeigt VOX "Jurassic Park III"... Die Wiederholung läuft um 0.30 Uhr...
Heute um 22.05 Uhr zeigt der Regionalsender MDR "Jurassic Park"...
CS! sprach mit dem Produzenten Frank Marshall...
[...] Since the topic of discussion was "four-quels", we had to ask Marshall about the other one on his slate, specifically Jurassic Park 4, which had been talked about in recent years with no solid news in a while. He thought that they were still shooting for it to come out in the summer of 2009, but that they were also waiting for the strike to end to further work on the script. "There's an idea and we just have to see if it shakes out." [...]
SpielbergFilms.com titelt "Jurassic Park IV’ not in casting process"...
Recent reports on the ‘Net have stated that the long-awaited, highly anticipated and hotly debated "Jurassic Park IV" is moving forward into the casting process. While this rumor has re-ignited fan interest and discussion (never a bad thing), the rumors turn out to be completely unfounded as per multiple, separate sources associated directly with the production.
Steven Spielberg’s personal reps at Amblin Entertainment (co-producers of the "Jurassic Park" franchise) have told SpielbergFilms.com that casting has not commenced on the film, as the story and screenplay are still in development. While there’s been talk over the years with series stars Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum and most recently, Laura Dern, the property is still not ready to move forward toward production and no casting is taking place.
The good news is that the film is still in development, but it’s not near the point that these rumors would have it. Steven Spielberg is of course currently hard at work filming the latest chapter in his other beloved franchise, "Indiana Jones IV." At last public comment, producer Frank Marshall said that serious attention will turn to "Jurassic Park" as soon as Spielberg’s camp has put the finishing touches on the new Indy film. Whether or not this will hold at that time remains to be seen, but for now, take heart in knowing that they’re still working on bringing "Jurassic Park IV" to eager audiences.
Bloody-Disgusting learned this weekend that Universal Pictures has officially begun casting for Jurassic Park IV, which will film in Kauai, Hawaii later this year! Laura Dern confirmed her return to the franchise as Dr. Ellie Sattler here as Sam Neill will NOT return. We're told that the film is about the government who has trained dinosaurs to carry weapons and use them for battle purposes. Based on that I can now safely declare that this franchise has entered 'ridiculous sequel mode'. [...]
Collider.com sprach ebenfalls mit Laura Dern...
[...] While talking to Laura Dern earlier this afternoon, she revealed that she had received a phone call from Steven Spielberg and something is brewing.
Laura Dern: I’m told its happening and I’m told they’re calling me. I’m told that Ellie Sattler is involved in it.
Are you interested in going back?
Well a certain fellow is the one that called me and it’s hard to say no to him cause he’s always got something totally genius up his sleeve so we’ll see what they have in mind. But I don’t know anything about it at this point.
Has anyone told you when it would shoot?
I think within the year. I think they want to release it in 2008.
Have you been in touch with your other Jurassic Park co-stars recently?
Actually I just oddly talked to Sam Neil shortly before I arrived here. But we didn’t speak about that. It’s always an awkward thing because sometimes one person is in it and another person isn’t and who knows who is going to do it or not do it. So it’s the unspoken dinosaur date. [...]
SuicideGirls.com sprach mit Laura Dern...
DRE: [...] I heard you might be in Jurassic Park 4.
LD: I heard that too. I don’t even know. People have asked me if I’m going to be in it so I don’t know if that means they’re writing it and my character is in it.
DRE:Would you be interested?
LD: Well if Steven [Spielberg] were there I’d always be interested because I love him.
DRE:What if he were just producing because I don’t think he’s going to direct it?
LD: You never know. I guess it depends on where they take the dinosaurs and me. [...]
