Clayton Watson, who reprises the role of The Kid in the upcoming Matrix Revolutions movie, revealed to EW.com that there were indeed rumblings of further Matrix adventures, though producer Joel Silver has categorically denied that a further sequel will happen. "I've been told not to say anything," Watson told the site. "At one point it was, 'Look, if there's a [Matrix] 4, 5 and 6, then it's you and Jada [Pinkett Smith].' And I'd say to the boys [directors Larry and Andy Wachowski], 'Are we starting?' And they'd say, 'Don't f--king go there, kid.'"
Asked recently about a possible fourth film, Silver told SCI FI Wire, "It will never happen."
For his part, Watson said, "At this stage, it's very doubtful that there'll be a continuation of the saga. But maybe in another five years or so." [...]

[...] this is one of the best movies I have ever seen to say the least. It is everything we hoped for and more. A new standard has been set in everyway a movie is made. [...]

[30.10.2003] SF Wire meldet...
Joel Silver, producer of the Matrix movies, told reporters that there won't be a fourth film after the upcoming Matrix Revolutions, but that there may be more games set in the Matrix universe. At a news conference Oct. 27 in Los Angeles' new Disney Concert Hall, Silver responded to a question from SCI FI Wire about a possible new Matrix movie: "It will never happen."
But asked about other future Matrix projects, Silver revealed, "We're dealing with all that now. There is a project being worked on with a company called Ubi Soft, which is outside of Seattle, which is a multiplayer online game that in fact may become available as early as this summer, which will continue on the story of the world of The Matrix." Silver added that Jada Pinkett Smith's character, Niobe, may figure in the game, as might Laurence Fishburne's Morpheus. "But we're just working on that now," he said.
Silver added that there is talk about doing another video game, beyond the current hit Enter the Matrix. "There's a moment in [The Matrix Revolutions], when Seraph [Collin Chou] comes in with Neo [Keanu Reeves] and Trinity [Carrie-Anne Moss] and Morpheus, and the Merovingian [Lambert Wilson] says to him, 'Oh, the prodigal son returns.' And the boys [writers/directors Larry and Andy Wachowski] wanted to kind of explore that backstory. So that may be something that they deal with in a video game. But there will be other areas of Matrix material, but there will not be any more movies."

Vorsicht SPOILER !!!
[...] If "The Matrix" was the brain of the series and "Matrix Reloaded" the fat that should have (in hindsight) been trimmed from the trilogy, then "Matrix Revolutions" is pure lean and mean muscle that serves up an astounding finale. It’s a sci-fi lover’s wet dream.
This movie delivers on the promise of the original film in a way "Matrix Reloaded" didn’t. The Wachowskis have thrown everything they have at the screen and, wouldn’t you know, it works. The film has enormous action sequences chock-full of "Holy Shit!" moments that make the freeway chase in the second film seem tiny and insignificant in comparison, yet even with these bigger set pieces the movie manages (rather surprisingly) to elevate the human drama in a way most FX-driven movies seem unable to do. [...]

[17.10.2003] Bei CS! gibt es Infos zur Laufzeit von "Revolutions"...
[...] I'm in the UK and our ratings board - the BBFC - yesterday rated Matrix Revolutions as a '15' uncut. More relevant to worldwide viewers of the movie though, and not just UK, is the runtime of the movie, which was previously unreported on the net as far as I could see. It is 128 mins. (and 48 secs.). Minor shame it's shorter than Reloaded and the first Matrix by 10 mins and 8 mins. respectively, but 128 is still an excellent length. [...]

The Maverick Records soundtrack to The Matrix Revolutions will be released on November 4, 2003, one day before the movie opens, and will have over an hour of music on it, including the song "In My Head" by Pale 3, which plays in the Merovingian's Hell Club (3:46), two cues that feature Don Davis' collaboration with Juno Reactor, a 9 minute end credit re-mix of Don Davis' "Super Burly Brawl" music by Juno Reactor, and 45 minutes of orchestral underscore by Don Davis. Apparently no rock bands were inspired by this movie.

The Matrix Revolutions will world premiere at the Disney Hall on October 27, likely making it the only film to premiere at the new venue in its first year of operation.
Producer Joel Silver, a friend of architect Frank Gehry, made the deal to land the hall as a premiere venue for the Warner Bros./Village Roadshow sequel. During a construction tour last spring of the downtown L.A. site, Silver broached the idea of premiering the film there, and the designer embraced the idea.
"This is the right building for 'The Matrix Revolutions,' " Silver told Variety. "Frank Gehry has a very cinematic style of architecture. People will be blown away by the space and by the picture. When the lights go down, you'll be in the world of the Matrix; when they come up, you'll be in the world of Frank Gehry, which is some futuristic place that is not now."

[...] The shot opened with a blurry headshot of Neo (lying down) slowly coming into focus. There was voiceover, but I cannot recall what was said. I believe it was the Oracle talking about what will happen if Neo isn't successful in his quest. The next scene was Neo and Mr. Smith coming face to face in an outdoor setting. Smith laughs and says: "Mr. Anderson. Welcome back. We've missed you." Neo replies: "This ends tonight." The two charge each other and throw single punches. Right before the punches land, the trailer cuts to a furious set of shots that includes Trinity in full cartwheel-machine gun action... Morpheus fighting more agents... Plenty of bullet-time goodness... A shot of thousands of Sentinels rushing towards the screen. There was more fighting, bullets and a couple of shots of very large creatures/ships that I was not familiar with. [...]

[18.07.2003] SF Wire sprach mit Nona Gaye über "The Matrix Revolutions"... CS! meldet...
Warner Bros. has decided to keep their effects facility, ESC Entertainment, open after they complete the special effects for The Matrix Revolutions [...] ESC has 250 artists on staff creating effects sequences for "Revolutions," which bows in November. Final shots for the film are expected to be delivered sometime in September, after which ESC will move on to Catwoman.
A number of other effects shops also are working on "Revolutions," including Sony Pictures Imageworks, Animal Logic, Buf, Tippett Studio and Pixel Liberation Front. More than 1,500 effects shots were created for both films said to have cost $100 million alone.

Prepare to have your hopes dashed. I went to an advanced screening of The Matrix: Reloaded last night and the epic that I was hoping to see unfold never...unfolded.
In fact, it was really a movie about details and not of the interesting or thought provoking variety. Every line and every scene pushed for something grand and profound and almost always fell flat. [...]
Overall, it's really a boring film with little direction that's trying too hard to impress its audience. [...]

[05.05.2003] Bei Code-Matrix.net gibt es mehrere "Behind the Scenes"-Clips... Und CS! liefert weitere Auszüge aus dem Magazin "Premiere"...
The new issue of Premiere talks about making "believable flying" in The Matrix Reloaded.
"It's the hardest thing ever," says John Gaeta, who is supervising six effects houses that are producing more than 2,000 shots for both movies (the first Matrix had just over 400), and who says they're spending less money per shot than before, despite the massively increased visual-effects budget. "There's a couple of scenes in Mary Poppins that are about as good as some of the flying you may have seen in a film in the last five years. That's how much it's advanced."
Yet with more than two years' prep time, Gaeta was up to the challenge, even hiring a zero-gravity NASA aircraft (the infamous Vomit Comet) and taking to the air with Yuen Wo-ping's martial arts team and a camera crew to see what weightless kung fu looked like. "The Hong Kong dudes were up there trying to kick each other to death, but it was a little difficult to fight," he says. Still, "we based the look of one climactic fight scene off of the material we shot up there."

[...] Agent Smith has managed to multiply himself in the Matrix, much like a virulent computer virus. "He's a free agent, if you like," says Weaving.
"He's unplugged himself and is hiding in the Matrix the same way the Oracle is. His ego's growing, and with that comes the ability to multiply. I think by the end of the third film, he is meant to have populated the whole of the Matrix with himself."

[...] Remember the way the glass rippled on the side of the skyscraper when the helicopter crashed into it in the original film? Expect more of that trippy stuff this time, especially in Revolutions, when the Matrix is in decay. "We spent a lot of time trying to develop a unique look for destruction," says Gaeta. "We're trying to augment real pyrotechnics in ways that make it totally bizarre, and we're making false pyrotechnics so that we can move it around in interesting ways. You take phenomena like flame or water and you inverse its properties with something else, so that flame acts like water and water acts like gas."
They also mention that the Oracle will be seen in the third film. But how will they do this with the death of Gloria Foster?
Foster, meanwhile, finished her work on Reloaded. And while her death was devastating to all, it allowed for a narrative switch that had been discused even before her passing: The brothers had considered altering the Oracle's form for Revolutions because the machines find out about her in Reloaded, but had discontinued the idea. "We said, 'How could we do that to Gloria?'" Silver says. "Then it happened."

So what can we expect from part three? "Revolutions spills into the real world and becomes very epic," says visual-effects supervisor John Gaeta. "People who like dark creature films, like Ridley Scott used to make, will really get off on this." The climax alone will cost a reported $40 million-plus. Then there's Club Hell, an S&M club in the Matrix. "We had to learn a lot about rubber," says costume designer Kym Barrett. "By the end of the movie, we knew everybody in Sydney, France, and London who makes fetish wear." Reeves describes a gunfight in the entrance of Club Hell. "The people who are protecting the club fight on the ceiling," he says. "Instead of doing that digitally, they had real humans and real rigs to allow people to go from the floor standing up to upside down on the ceiling. I loved that they did that mechanically, four or five people in one shot."

[...] the effects are "jaw-dropping...stunning...no one's ever seen anything like it"
GM donated 300 Cadalliacs for the shooting of the film - they wrecked all 300.
Neo flies in the film. Horn says it's "very dramatic" and that they'll really have to go out of their way to match it for the new Superman flick.
Matrix Revolutions is going to open at the same exact moment everywhere on the planet (So it would open at midnight in the U.S., for instance, and at noon halfway around the world). First time this has been done.
Definitely a "to be continued" ending to Reloaded. The Brothers wanted to release the films a month apart but the studio was opposed because they wanted to allow for the video gross. It turned out the argument was moot because the effects on the third still have many months to go.
A trailer for Revolutions will follow the END of the credits for Reloaded (the credits are about 8 minutes long). The Brothers insisted on this - despite studio worries that the audience won't stick around (they knew that after word got out they'd have no problems getting the audience to wait).
Matrix Reloaded will be on video by Early November.

There were a few more shot and it looked really nice! [...]

'Kailem' has some interesting stuff about the new trailer: "The Matrix community forums have been buzzing with talk recently that a new Matrix Reloaded-only trailer would be showing in cinemas from the 11th of this month, which is next friday, attached to 'Anger Mangemen't. This was recently this was confirmed when one of the guys who runs the official Matrix website (and has always been a very reliable source of Matrix info) posted on a community forum saying that the talk of a new trailer was true, and that we would be seeing it online at the official site *before* the 11th". Meanwhile details of the 'gift bags' at the US premiere have emerged and sound somewhat kinky - lifesize blowup Neo and Trinity dolls, black vinyl Trinity oven mittens, and Persephone shaped soap-on-a-rope. [27.03.2003] DH meldet...
The recent edition of the rather superb Hot Dog magazine in the UK has loads of plot spoilers for the new Matrix sequels, here's a breakdown from 'John' of what's been revealed:
"They have a matrix spy who recently contacted them and said that "someone dies in the end." Who? To save those who don't want to know from this large spoiler, you can work it out yourself: the person who plays this character appeared , singlet and all, in another Australian film just after the first matrix movie.
The machines aren't all out to destroy humanity - there are 'obsolete' artificial intelligences that are not pleased about having been superceeded (and looked down upon) by more advanced, less humanoid models. We already know that Agent Smith is able to clone himself - but by the end of Revolutions, he won't be the only one with this particular ability.
There is apparently a "wooden performance that stands out from the lot. This person might find their star rising from the immenent success of these movies, but after that ... I doubt they'll go anywhere - and the final Matrix film finishes in a way that almost demolishes any need for this person to be in it should a further films happen"

Vorsicht SPOILER !!!
[...] the computer-animated short film Final Flight of the Osiris leads directly into the highly anticipated film. Osiris - one of nine upcoming animated Animatrix shorts - will screen in theaters alongside Warner Brothers' Dreamcatcher, which opens March 21.
Reloaded "starts with Final Flight," Silver said in an interview. "You're beginning to see the story of the movie. There's a machine army. There seems to be an enormous amount of sentinels that are available. There seem to be tunneling somehow to Zion. And that starts the movie. That starts the plot." [...]

John Gaeta berichtet u.a. über die "Virtual Cinematography"...
[...] Despite that, whole sections of the sequels were solely created in the computer. "We almost enter animated movie mode at the end of Revolutions. A lot of material in those sequences is 100% computer-generated images (CGI), rather than integrated or virtual stuff," confirms Gaeta. Nor is he trying to make those scenes look like they were shot conventionally. "We like to do effects that don't look real. That's one of the reasons we look at Japanese anime so often, because it's so stylised and they do stuff purely for visual impact." [...]

[11.03.2003] CHUD sprach kürzlich mit Joel Silver & Andy Jones...
[...] Laurence Fishburne was saying the production had a real hard time with the death of Gloria Foster as she was so great, but was also a major part of the third Matrix movie - what was done about that?
Lord Joel: We had a terrible thing happen with Aaliyah, too. Well, the boys had always planned on the Oracle changing form, so this was a possibility they had talked about. But she is very well-featured in Reloaded. She has a really great, cool scene in Reloaded. We had not done the Revolutions sequence yet and it ended up being another actor. [...]

[07.03.2003] Hollywood Reporter sprach mit Silver & Fellman...
[...] "It really is an incredible journey," [Silver] said, explaining that the two films actually are one movie that's been sliced in half. "We really thought our audience would not want to wait a year to see the rest of the story because it really stops right in the middle of the movie. We would have loved to come out (with them both in) the same summer, but both of those movies couldn't get done in time. So we went to the fall because we felt that was the best way to do it.
"The movies are spectacular. It's all based on this incredible story the Wachowski Brothers have created. It's a story that's being told in multiple mediums. We have this video game. We have animated shorts. We have a short film ('Osiris') opening with 'Dreamcatcher' in three weeks that sets up both sequels. If you see this short film, it kind of jumps you into the movie. If you don't see it, you'll still enjoy the picture, but it will be enhanced a little bit if you see the short."
"The Wachowski Brothers really had one film in mind," Fellman added. "Only we're going to distribute it in two parts. No. 1 really will be a cliffhanger and No. 2 will pick it up. We intend to show footage or some indication of what's down the road at the end of the (first) movie so the audience will have a good idea of what to look for in November. The Wachowski Brothers have established themselves as the cutting edge filmmakers in today's generation. They've raised the bar when it's come to visual effects with everything that they've done with the first 'Matrix.' And even though I haven't seen the second one, I've seen footage and from my conversation with both the brothers and Joel, it looks like they've taken filmmaking to another place. And we will see it soon. So will the public. We're very excited about it. I think the team of the Wachowski Brothers and Joel Silver are going to make movie history when the (next) 'Matrix' opens in May." [...]

[06.03.2003] CS! sprach mit Monica Bellucci...
[...] Going from the serious Tears of the Sun set to the intense The Matrix Reloaded set wasn't as big of a change for Bellucci as some would think. "I'll tell you, when you're in front of the camera, for a small budget movie or a big budget movie, there's no difference. When you're in front of the camera, I think an actor works with their soul and their thought and the language comes."
Bellucci plays Persephone in the 'Matrix' sequels, and said the Greek myth informs the character. "She was the daughter of Zeus and she was kidnapped by the king of the underworld, in Hades and she was allowed to come back into the living world. It says a lot about my character, Persephone, but I can't tell you [more] about it. She's very mysterious and sensual, more glamour, but dangerous, very dangerous."
She does take part in some 'Matrix' action, but not the wirework bullet time sorts of things we've previously seen. "My action scenes are not like jumping on the wall, it's completely different kind of stuff. You'll see it in the movie." [...]

[27.02.2003] CS! meldet...
Warner Bros. is in early talks to bring The Matrix: Reloaded to this year's Cannes Film Festival, says Variety. The film would screen in an out-of-competition slot timed to coincide with its U.S. release on May 15.
The official lineup of the film fest, which runs May 14-25, is in only the preliminary stage of being set. As a policy, the fest won't offer a scheduling slot to a film until it's been given a formal screening, and the f/x-intensive tentpole, now in the midst of a long post-production process, has yet to be shown to festival programmers. A Warner Bros. spokesman said they haven't reached an agreement to screen the film.
But the trade says plans are taking shape for a May 15 screening. Festival artistic director Thierry Fremaux will travel to L.A. in two weeks and could see "Matrix" footage at that time.

Entertainment Weekly spoke with Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss about The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. The stars, who reprise their roles of Neo and Trinity, say that the action won't just come from dodging slo-mo bullets.
Love will be flying high for Neo and Trinity. "We share some time alone and express our love an intimacy for each other," Reeves said.
"In the first movie their relationship was very sweet and pure," adds Moss, "but this time the relationship really blossoms and becomes something beautiful."

[...] "With the passing days, my character gets more precise. Even though the Wachowskis didn’t tell me about her mythological nature, I have some books they brought at my disposal. [...] In a way she’s prisoner because of her husband... It’s obvious Persephonis is hugely inspired by this goddess. Caught between the Matrix and the real world. In the movie she’s a woman who had a lot of lives. As soon as she touches someone, she can feel what he/she’s feeling. She’s like a predatory, a vampire of feelings." [...]

[22.01.2003] Latino Review sprach mit Laurence Fishburne, u.a. über die "Matrix"-Sequels...
There are some cool race scenes in Biker Boyz; can you talk about the so-called famous freeway scene in THE MATRIX RELOADED?
Laurence: Ah, the freeway chase, The Matrix is going to be unstoppably watchable, you're gonna get to see how deep the rabbit hole goes, the technology is gonna be unlike anything you have ever seen before. They are going to release two animated shorts [Animatrix] in February, that you go to the website and visit for free and see them. I'm trying to remember to the title for the first two, I think its called "Renaissance" and they deal with how the world that we live in today got to be the world of the Matrix. And then when DREAMCATCHER comes out, there is a nine-minute Animatrix attached to the end of DREAMCATCHER, called "Flight of the Osiris" that sets up the plot for the Matrix Reloaded. Then the day the movie [Matrix Reloaded] comes out "Enter the Matrix", which is the video game, comes out as well, and it's in all platforms Xbox, PS2, etc, etc...

[09.01.2003] CS! meldet...
The Dec. 30th, 2003 issue of Newsweek has a large feature on The Matrix that you may already be familiar with. They also discuss the upcoming game "Enter The Matrix" which will be released in conjunction with The Matrix Reloaded.
The article states that the Wachowski brothers wrote a 244 page script specifically for the game featuring Niobe (Jada Pinkett-Smith) and Ghost (Anthony Wong). The game's story "cleverly fleshes out off-screen moments only alluded to in 'Reloaded'." The Wachowski brothers also shot an hour of all new footage for the game featuring the original actors, crew, and sets. The game's combat was even created by the film's Hong Kong stunt team.
"You don't have to see the movie to play the game, or vice versa," says Dave Perry, whose company, Shiny, is producing the game. "But if two people are sitting next to each other in the theater, and only one of them has played the game, the gamer will have a deeper understanding of what's going on."

[07.01.2003] Bei CS! gibt es neue Bilder aus der "Newsweek"... Und der Sydney Morning Herald hat eine besondere Besetzungs-Meldung...
[...] EAT extras have worked on many of the big films made in Sydney. The producers of The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, needed lots of pale people. For Garage Days they wanted ferals, and "Newtown types". For Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones it didn't matter "because they'd just paint you blue and stick a tentacle on your head". [...]
