[13.05.2010] CS! meldet...
IMAX Corporation and Sony Pictures Releasing today announced that Resident Evil: Afterlife, the fourth installment of the popular film series based on the video game, will be released to digital IMAX theatres simultaneously with the film's wide release on September 10, 2010.
The film, which was photographed in 3D, will be digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience with proprietary IMAX DMR (Digital Re-mastering) technology and presented in IMAX 3D. [...]

[09.05.2010] FEARNet sprach mit dem Produzenten Don Carmody...
[...] Do you worry that you will have outstayed your welcome with another Resident Evil film?
The fact that it's the fourth in a series, when a lot of series tend to run out of steam, is always a risk, but we think that a terrific script and the added element of 3D will really please the fans. Paul loves the 3D - he wants to do his next movie in 3D. I think it is one of the best scripts in the series so far. [...]
Why did you guys go 3D for this one?
Paul was intrigued by 3D. I actually made a 3D movie, Space Hunter, back in 1983 -- the last time 3D was hot. I must admit, I am astonished at how much better the technology is now. We had two huge Panaflex Goldens shooting side-by-side into mirrors, and the way they projected it was over-under, kind of a Technascope thing. So the image quality was nowhere near where we are. We are using Sony F35s that have incredible definition; and it is projecting in HD digital. It's amazing quality. Plus filmmakers have learned not to poke the audience in the eye. You can sit back and enjoy. That's not to say we don't have some things coming at us, but it's not constant. It just enhances the experience -- it really puts you into the action. When Alice is running down a corridor firing machine guns, the shells are whizzing past your ears. It's quite amazing. [...]

just heard that the teaser for RE4 will come out in front of nightmare on elm street!

[29.01.2010] STYD sprach mit Shawn Roberts (u.a. "Land of the Dead", "Diary of the Dead") über seine Rolle in "Resident Evil: Afterlife"...
[...] "I play Albert Wesker who is head of the Umbrella Corporation who is responsible for the outbreak of the T-virus, or the Uroboros virus," he told us, hinting that this entry may be extracting elements from Resident Evil 5. "It was nice to be in a position of sitting back playing with my puppets as they were. We finished in December and I guess right now it's just about making sure the technology gets into the screen so 3-D can happen."
Written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, and of course starring Milla Jovovich as Alice, Roberts says, "The storyline goes on its own [in terms of its faithfulness to the game]. We made sure we brought elements in. The wardrobe is very similar and as close as we could get it. We have some fight scenes that are taken directly from the game. We're doing it for the fans so we want to do what makes them happy. The dogs come back. They're my pets which is cool."
"My character is such a favorite character in the games," he adds, "so I'm just like 'alright I don't want to piss anyone off.' You make it the best you can. The key thing is that it was fun. I would walk onto set and not even have my wardrobe, but wardrobe comes over and they hand me my gloves and give me my jacket. It just sort of takes shape. I'm a fan and I'm not disappointed." [...]

[11.01.2010] STYD meldet...
A few months back, we reported that Paul Anderson's Resident Evil: Afterlife was moved back to January 2011 in order to give the director more time for the computer process needed to release the movie in 3D. [...]
At the time, actress Milla Jovovich, who has played Alice in all four movies, claimed on her Twitter feed that the release date change wasn't definite. The move also would have put the fourth installment up against MGM's own 3D horror flick Cabin in the Woods, forcing them to split digital 3D screens. It looks like Anderson won't be needing that extra time for the FX and 3D after all, as ShockTillYouDrop has learned that things are back on track for Resident Evil: Afterlife to be released not on September 24 as originally slated, but two weeks earlier on September 10! [...]

[...] "RE Afterlife IS NOT officially pushed. There have been talks of pushing it as they [are] not sure they can have it ready by July. We [are] trying as hard as we can to still meet the summer deadline though, so for the moment its still on for August." [...]

Screen Gems and Constantin Film announced today that Resident Evil: Afterlife, the next installment in the widely successful "Resident Evil" film franchise has begun production in Toronto, Canada. The fourth film, which will be shot and released in 3-D, is a first in the "Resident Evil" film franchise. Most of the key creative players, who turned the "Resident Evil" film franchise into a global phenomenon, will be reprising their roles in "Afterlife."
Actress Milla Jovovich returns as the zombie-fighting heroine Alice. Ali Larter reprises her role as Claire Redfield from Resident Evil: Extinction. Spencer Locke, who played K-Mart in "Extinction," is also set to return. New to the film franchise is leading man Wentworth Miller, who has signed on as Chris Redfield - Claire's brother and a popular character from the game series. Shawn Roberts will take over the role of Alice's nemesis Wesker. Boris Kodjoe and Kim Coates have also been cast.
Filmmaker Paul W. S. Anderson is back in his triple threat capacity as writer, director and producer. Anderson wrote, produced and directed the first Resident Evil (2002) and wrote and produced the sequels, Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004) and "Extinction" (2007). Producing alongside Anderson are the same creative minds from the three previous films: Anderson's longterm producing partner Jeremy Bolt, Constantin Film's Bernd Eichinger (writer and producer of the Oscar®-nominated films The Baader Meinhof Complex and Downfall) and Robert Kulzer, and Samuel Hadida. Rounding out the "Afterlife" producing team is Don Carmody, also a producer on "Apocalypse." Martin Moszkowicz and Victor Hadida are again executive producing.
"It is tremendously exciting to bring a new chapter in the 'Resident Evil' saga to life with such a talented group of actors and filmmakers," said Kulzer, who produced the sci-fi horror flick Pandorum with Anderson and Bolt. "It gets better every time."
Anderson offered a small glimpse of what can be expected in the new film: "Alice's battle with The Umbrella Corporation isn't finished. Last time we saw Alice, she let them know she was coming after them. It's time to settle the score."
Screen Gems' President Clint Culpepper noted, "The 'Resident Evil' franchise has successfully entertained audiences around the globe and we are pleased to bring yet another installment to fans with the same creative team but this time in 3-D."
Based on the massively popular "Resident Evil" video game series by Capcom Entertainment, the "Resident Evil" films are part of a global brand that also includes books, merchandising, DVD collections and more.
Screen Gems will distribute Resident Evil: Afterlife in the U.S. and Sony Pictures will distribute in certain select foreign territories. Screen Gems previously handled U.S. distribution of Resident Evil, "Apocalypse" and "Extinction." Constantin Film will retain all German-language rights. Metropolitan Film Export, headed by Samuel Hadida and Victor Hadida, will distribute the film in France.
"Afterlife" is expected to hit U.S. theatres in fall 2010 and throughout the rest of the word in the following months.

[22.09.2009] Blackfilm sprach mit Boris Kodjoe...
[...] What’s your role in "Resident Evil"?
Boris Kodjoe:
I play the leader of the survivors in LA. Milla Jovovich’s character, Alice, is roaming the world looking for survivors and she’s wound up in LA, which has been burning for three years. She comes across an LA jail surrounded be these half-dead, uhh...
Zombies?
Boris Kodjoe:
Yeah, they’re those monsters, what are they called? Anyway, she comes across the jail and there’s a couple of survivors and she lands on top of the roof and partners up with me to fight the guys that are coming after them. We’re trying to get all of the survivors out of the jail to safety. We’re starting next week, actually.
Where are you gonna be shooting at?
Boris Kodjoe:
We’re shooting in Toronto.
Were you a fan of the franchise?
Boris Kodjoe:
Yeah I saw the first one which I thought was interesting. I really adore and respect her, and also Paul W.S Anderson, who is the director. He’s married to her, and he’s a tremendous visionary, he’s got all these great ideas. What I like most about him is that he’s so excited about what he does. He really loves his job. That always goes a long way, because when you go to work with a smile on your face the outcome can only be positive. I love working with people who like what they do. He’s definitely one of those guys. He led me around the studio when I was out there to meet with them. He’s got it all worked out. He’s working with them making new cameras that James Cameron’s partner developed for "Avatar". All this stuff plays into this movie making it an experience I’m looking forward to.
With Milla back and Paul Anderson directing the movie do you know if any of the characters from the previous movies will be back as well?
Boris Kodjoe:
It’s gonna be Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter, I’m the new one, and Wentworth Miller is also in the movie. He's the lead in "Prison Break".
Is he another survivor?
Boris Kodjoe:
Yes. He’s playing a guy that we actually locked up when we took over the jail because we weren’t sure if he was one of them or not. He comes into play as we try to find a way to get out with our survivors.[...]

Boris Kodjoe, who stars in the upcoming Surrogates and was previously seen in Tyler Perry's Madea's Family Reunion, has joined Milla Jovovich in Screen Gems' Resident Evil: Afterlife. He revealed the casting on his Twitter account:

[23.07.2009] STYD meldet...
[...] talked exclusively to Paul W.S. Anderson, who revealed that Resident Evil: Afterlife will be released in 3D and will kick-off a new trilogy!
Anderson, who will write and direct, told us that the fourth film in the franchise will have the largest budget of all the films so far. "I always envisioned Resident Evil as a trilogy of films," he said. "And we've been very lucky where it's a trilogy where the audience has built and built. I wanted to kick off a brand new trilogy. I'm really excited we're doing it [in 3-D] and we're using the same camera system [James] Cameron used for Avatar. There are a lot of exciting things about this one. I don't regard it as Resident Evil 4, I regard it as a re-tooling and rebirth of the entire franchise."
Milla Jovovich will return as Alice in "Afterlife," opening September 17, 2010. You can also expect some returning characters from the previous films and new characters from the video games.

[...] I can tell you that Capcom is working very closely with Sony on this title, as it's something that both companies have wanted on the PSP for quite some time. It's not a "remake" of a previous RE game, but an all-new title created specifically for the PSP platform, with the PSP Go in mind. I've managed to sneak a look at a very early game design document for this title and all I am allowed to say is: Wow. Totally different for a Resident Evil game.

Paul Anderson wrote the screenplay but he is not coming back to direct.
The screenplay is more akin to RE2 in terms of style, but with better dialogue. The overall tone is also very dark.
There's enough hand to hand fights in the script for them to bring in a martial arts choreographer.
Patrick Tatopoulos (R3) will be in charge of the creature effects and they will have a new Special FX supervisor (in terms of the the practical effects) - Michael Lantieri (JURASSIC PARK 3)
The script is complete (they're at Draft 2)) and they're going to start casting before making any more script changes.
So far, they will be filming in Toronto and Tokyo. Toronto will actually front for Alaska.
They will be hiring a director once they have Milla officially signed back on. [...]

[...] Set several years after Raccoon City is blown to bits, Degeneration picks up in an anonymous U.S. airport where a bio-terror attack raises the dead and unleashes a few surprising monstrosities. "Leon is, of course, a pro at handling these kinds of situations so he cooperates with Claire to handle the situation. There will be a lot of mysteries and incidents they have to take care of," explains Kobayashi. When asked by an attendee if sparks flare between the two zombie protagonists, the producer reveals a new character to the Resident Evil universe named "Angela, so you've got Claire and Angela - it's up to Leon to take the pick." The audience applauds. They love it. Twelve years after the first game's debut, the Resident Evil franchise - through sequels and a lucrative live action films - show little signs of loosening its bite on its collective fanbase. [...]
ShockTillYouDrop.com: Does this film fall into the continuity of the films or the games?
Hiroyuki Kobayashi:
We keep the Milla Jovovich films on the side because they're not connected. The thing is, when we came up with the idea of a CGI feature film, we wanted to do something that would be a sequel to the video games. With Leon and Claire appearing in this, this would obviously be a sequel to Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 which features Leon. [...]

[24.07.2008] Ein neuer "Resident Evil: Degeneration" Trailer ist online !!!

[02.07.2008] MTV.com sprach mit Paul W.S. Anderson...
[...] "Resident Evil: Extinction," the third video-game to big screen adaptation in the popular series will likely not be the last, Anderson said, although talks for a fourth film are still in the very earliest stages of development.
"I’m just starting to talk to Sony about it," Anderson confessed. "I don’t even know if anything will come of it, but there’s a possibility it might happen."
It would seem like a sure thing given the ending of "Extinction," which saw Alice (Milla Jovovich) beside herself with rage - literally, thanks to hundreds of perfect clones - promising to travel to the Umbrella Corporation’s headquarters in Japan. But Anderson, who scripted the first three films, says a concrete story hasn’t yet been decided upon. In fact, it’s coming up with a plausible, kick-ass story that’s momentarily holding him up.
"I love the ‘Resident Evil’ franchise and we always try to make the best possible movie we can. If we could find a good ‘Resident Evil 4’ to make, then we would do it," he said. "But I wouldn’t just do it for the sake of it, that’s for sure."

Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan and game maker Capcom will jointly produce feature toon "Biohazard: Degeneration," based on the "Resident Evil" films and games, the partners said Monday.
The "Resident Evil" franchise is known as the "Biohazard" series in Japan.
Skedded for release in the latter half of 2008, the toon, like the other "Resident Evil" pics, is based on a hit horror game that Shinji Mikami created and Capcom developed for the Sony PlayStation.
Since its debut in 1996, the game and its series successors have sold 33 million units worldwide.
The toon will be 3-D CG and based on an original story; the helmer and other cast and crew are yet to be announced.
The live-action pic series, starring Milla Jovovich, has generated three entries, the latest being "Resident Evil: Extinction," which has earned $50 million at the U.S. box office and $100 million worldwide since its Sept. 21 release.

[...] anyone who is a fan of this franchise will really enjoy EXTINCTION. Other than the slow beginning the film really is tight and moves quickly. But the problem is that anyone who is not familiar with the game or films will definitely hate/be bored with this final entry, as it takes way too long to bring explanation to the viewers. And the film truly has nothing new or original about it as it just feels like a bunch of scenes from other movies jammed into one. But if you’re just looking for some mindless fun, explosions and zombie ass-kickin action, you’ll get it all here. [...]

[...] Both actors were asked how involved they were with their own stunts. Fehr said that he got as involved as possible, but some stunts were too dangerous for even him to want to try. Larter said she was glad for the stunt people as the 128-degree Mexican heat made it hard for her to work, let alone do stunts. They were then asked if they'd played the RE games before shooting. Larter said she hasn't. Fehr said if he starts playing games he becomes addicted, but claiming it was "research for a role" was the perfect excuse for him. [...]
When asked if this movie would be the end of a trilogy or just another in a long line of sequels, Fehr didn't quite know how to answer, saying he believes "no movie is ever really 'done'. There's always somewhere you can go with the characters." Larter mentioned how honoured she felt to be accepted by the cast, particularly Milla Jovovich as "it's her franchise."
The two then finished by introducing an "unfinished" clip (which looked pretty done to me). It features Alice (Milla) and all of her new friends from the end of EXTINCTION, plus Larter, searching an abandoned desert outpost of some sort. A metal door slowly opens and a shitload of zombies pour out. Our heroes start blasting at zombies left and right. Alice does some cool Krav Maga-style neck snaps and bone breaks. Lots of zombies being shot in the head. I'll say this for PW Anderson: what makes the RE series work (even at its dumbest moments) is that the guy knows his audience and how to get that "I-don't-wanna-get-bit" feeling from the games on screen. Uwe Boll could actually learn from this guy. [...]

[18.12.2006] CS! meldet...
Rumours are circulating that a planned fourth installment of the "Resident Evil" series - the third has just been completed, and the fourth was set to go up shortly after - has been put to sleep before its even escaped the studio womb.
Checked in with one of the stars of "Resident Evil: Extinction", due out next year, who says as far as he knows plans for a "Resident Evil 4" are still very much alive.
Actor Chris Durand (Michael Myers in "Halloween H20") tells Moviehole that there was plenty of talk about a fourth film whilst they were filming the movie and he’s yet to hear otherwise. "I understood that 4 would take place in Alaska in the extreme Winter".
What could be happening here is that the studio is announcing the next film as the final part of a trilogy - meaning "Resident Evil 4" will be the start of something new; a spin-off perhaps with one of the other characters. One little rumour that has been doing the rounds is that the character of Leon Kennedy could be the hero of the next movie - which would fit in nicely with these other rumours.
"Resident Evil: Extinction" is set in between 3 - 5 years after the events of "Apocalypse", the Umbrella Corporation has failed to control a series of T-Virus outbreaks and the U.S. has been almost wiped out. With very little humanity left, a handful of survivors are travelling around the remnants of the world in heavily armored convoys that go to the least populated parts of the world.
Milla Jovovich returns as Alice, and she's running with a new pack of humans, with Claire Redfield (Ali Larter) leading a convoy (a school bus and a modified ambulance) that's cutting through the wastelands of the United States on a long trek to Alaska. Hunted by the minions of the scheming Dr. Isaacs, Alice has zombies hungry for her flesh and lab rats hungry for her blood, while Alice is hungry for Revenge.

About a year-and-a-half ago, it was reported that Constantin Film and Impact Pictures had already started work on a fourth "Resident Evil" before the third installment, Resident Evil: Extinction, opening September 21, 2007, had even started shooting.
As the new synopsis for "Extinction" indicates, that is no longer the case. The plot summary for "Extinction" labels the film as "the third and final installment." [...]

[18.10.2006] "Resident Evil: Extinction" Behind the Scenes - Clips gefällig !?!

[08.09.2006] Moviehole meldet...
Durand, whose now going on to feature in "Vantage Point" with Dennis Quaid and Matthew Fox, is one of the film's foremost villains - and looks like his character is going to be a hard peach to squash. Saw some piccies, and it looks like this one's going to be a hoot and a holler, good zombie fun. Oded Fehr is apparently great in this one - but ain't he always great? Something tells me CD won't be back for the next one though.... just an inkling...
Speaking of both "Evil" and going on to bigger and better things, TV fave Jensen Ackles - he's the slightly cooler of the brother coupling on "Supernatural" - is about to make a splash on the long white screen that's usually surrounded by burgundy curtains. (He's getting some good word for his role in the upcoming "Ten Inch Hero", a film that's said to be along the lines of - and this is a good thing, for me anyway, cos I've got a largie for the film - "Empire Records". Elisabeth Harnois and Sean Patrick Flannery are among the cast.) Anyway, that's not the best part for the young actor - and probably not the biggest payday he's going to see in the next year or so, either. He's in talks to play a main character in the fourth "Resident Evil" movie - yep, the third isn't even in theatres and they're a rushing a third into production - which starts filming next year.
Ackles would play the popular character of Leon Kennedy - the wisecracking copper from the last couple of games - in the film. He's one of couple of young guns being mentioned for the role, but I've a feeling his soaring star may just see him snag it.

[09.02.2006] Constantin Film meldet...
