Terminator Die archivierten Nachrichten aus der Rubrik "Aktuelles"...

[07.12.2003] Bei Moviehole gibt es ein Interview mit Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson...
Clint: They’re talking about you as someone that might replace Arnold for "The Terminator 4" or "Predator 3". Would you be interested?
The Rock: I’ve heard that a lot actually. I don’t know. Thing is, Arnold has put so much into those roles. They’re his roles. I liked "Terminator 3" but I loved the first two movies, and "Predator", the first one, is just fantastic. [...]

James Middleton has returned to Andy Vajna and Mario Kassar's C2 Pictures as senior VP of production. Before becoming senior VP of production and development at Sundance Productions, at C2 Middleton had overseen the development of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and Columbia's Eddie Murphy and Owen Wilson comedy I Spy.
In his new role, Middleton's responsibilities will be to oversee the development of Terminator 4, as well as other Intermedia co-productions like Smoke and Mirrors and Trapped.
Before his first stint at C2, Middleton had been a VP of production at United Artists, overseeing Leonardo DiCaprio starrer Man in the Iron Mask and 007 film GoldenEye.

[09.10.2003] DH meldet...
'BotBot' has some interesting stuff on another sequel with someone else at mind now Arnie's the Governor - "There have been meetings to talk about a T4 recently. T3 wasn't a smash - but it made enough to get the gang fluttering over it's potential as a new franchise. Not surprisingly, the latest is that it might be without Arnold. He apparently has said that he could do a cameo toward the start or end of the film, but his other commitments would make it near impossible for him to headline it. There's talk of bringing in another big name to headline it, Arnold's apparently suggested Dwayne Johnson. Arnold did a cameo in Dwayne's latest flick - and has put in a good word for the wrestler cum action star. I know they want to get Linda Hamilton back for a bizarre dream sequence. I think she'll come around - if only because Jon Mostow's not directing. I predict it'll happen for Summer 2005 against Bat and Indy over at P'mount. A rock/T4 might just work".

[17.09.2003] Moviehole meldet...
Arnold’s come out saying that if he gets elected Governor, he won’t be doing any more films. So where’s this leave the almost-green/well and truly planned "Terminator 4"? Funnily enough, in the same posse - ready to rock. We talked to a source at the studio who tells us that Arnold’s character might not necessarily be a centre focus of the next movie. "He might do a cameo, but even if he doesn’t, the storyline of the next one alone will put butts on seats. It’s that good", he says. "There’s a few options at the moment - bring in another big star to headline it, or simply have Nick and Claire carry proceedings, but Arnold’s potential new gig as Governor won’t deter T4 from happening that’s for sure". We’re told the film could be rolling as early as late 2004. But a Terminator without Arnold? Like Cola with Bubbles!

Besucher. [...]

[10.08.2003] CS! meldet...
Scooper 'Ants' alerted us that after 34 years of absence, producer Mario Kassar came back to his mother country Lebanon to promote Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. The Movie Guide, a Lebanese film magazine, did an interview with Kassar in which he revealed some interesting bits on the fourth installment.
"T4 is in the works. The screenplay will be ready in 8 or 9 months. Once we have that, we will proceed with the production," said Kassar.
What new things can we look forward to? "The question that has never been answered in all the Terminator films is time travel. You can come from the future to change the present. But we never see how they go back to the future, which is a subject that can be explored. I think you already know where T4 is going from the ending of T3."
He was also asked about Arnold Schwarzenegger's future with the franchise. "It depends on what he's doing in life. If he wants to do politics, he'll do politics. Then we'll have to figure out a way to do it without him. But he has expressed interest in doing T4."

[09.08.2003] CS! meldet...
Moritz Bormann, CEO of the German-based Internationalmedia, producers of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, says there could be another sequel even if Arnold Schwarzenegger succeeds in becoming governor of California.
"If we come up with a good story, there will be a fourth Terminator -- with or without Arnold," Bormann said. Schwarzenegger is currently leading the polls.
Bormann said he had discussed Schwarzenegger's political ambitions with him during the filming of "Terminator 3" and had thought of alternatives should Schwarzenegger win the election.
Another actor could play Arnold's Terminator character or Schwarzenegger could make his appearances in flashback scenes.

[...] Of course we have the commentaries, but these commentaries are maybe going to be a little bit more interesting then you're used to. I am really encouraging the people that I worked with on the movie is to really get specific about the nuts and bolts on what they do and how they contributed to the movie. We've got some great features on the movie that show behind the scenes, how we made the special effects, and I was thinking of making a DVD where you can actually build your own visual effect with materials of the movie. So I am kind of exited how it's going to be. It's really cool. [...]

Die L.A. Times sprach mit Nick Stahl...
If "T3" is a success, would you be up for another one?
I'm actually signed on for two more. But I can't even think a week into the future, much less like that. [...]

[07.07.2003] DH meldet...
James Cameron recently talked with BBC1 and revealed he's very happy with how Terminator 3 ended up: "In one word : Great. There was a small part of me that hoped it wasn't good - but another part of me hope'd it succeeded. And it did. And I'm so glad it did. Jonathon's made a great movie. Arnold's in great form. I really like what he's done with it". If he had done it, would he have handled it differently: "Yes. That's only natural. I mightn't have structrued it the same, nor may I have ended it the same way - but coming in where he has, such a hard thing to do, and I give Jonathan points for it". [...]

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines is set to bring in some healthy numbers at the box office this weekend, so what does producer Mario Kassar have to say about possible future installments?
He tells Empire magazine, "If this one's successful, then of course we'll think about Number 4. And then maybe Number 5 and Number 6. We have some ideas already, but you're not going to get them out of me today."

[03.07.2003] Bei JoBlo.com (8/10), ZENtertainment (3.5/5), Hot Fish (8/10), Latino Review (3/4), TAF, Juicy Cerebellum (9/10) gibt es Kritiken... Hollywood Reporter meldet...
The nearly unstoppable time-traveling cyborg from the future is back in theaters after a 12-year absence as Warner Bros. Pictures' "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" opened in early previews Tuesday night and vaporized $4.04 million. The R-rated sci-fi actioner, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger in his near-legendary recurring role, began unspooling at 8 p.m. in 2,569 theaters. "The previews were sensational; it's one of the biggest preview openings of all time," said Dan Fellman, president of domestic distribution at Warner Bros. Pictures. "The matinee grosses are very strong, and we are looking forward to a very successful holiday weekend."

TERMINATOR 3 is a damn good film, borders on being something better than that and depending on how it holds up on multiple viewings and what they do with the ends they leave, if they do anything of all... it might become great. [...]
This TERMINATOR film is lean, too lean. It needed to be fleshed out a bit here and there. My wanting that extra 10 minutes, I really want that sequence. Earlier in the film, I really want more character development between John and Kate Brewster - or between Kate and her father.
The film works so much better than I was expecting, but I still wanted more. That’s probably a good thing. If you think about how the film ends, there’s a certain beauty to it, to the conversations you can have, to what it all means, to what John has to do next. [...]

[...] It’s something that certainly under consideration. But I think it’s presumptuous to come out and talk about T4 before people decide whether they like T3.

[20.06.2003] Bei AICN gibt es eine "T3"-Kritik von Hearthorn... Vorsicht SPOILER !!!
[...] I was one of those souls who was mortified by the terrible preview ("SHE'LL BE BACK!!" - urgh) of T3. But guess what - the film is actually pretty good! I saw it with a bunch of opinionated studio people and the general consensus is....IT IS GOOD!!!
[...] In the action sequences, T3 does outgun T2 in terms of sheer size and amount of destruction and mayhem on screen. All the obligatory scenes of previous films (most notably T2) are repeated here - Arnold's full-monty entrance to a bar, his sunglass, motor cycle gigs, etc., etc. - with a bit of twist, but humor does not really hit the mark...which makes you a bit nervous in the beginning.
But when the action starts, it never lets up. Notable here is the car chase scene - it's real, and because it's real, it's spectacular. Much better than gamey Matrix Reloaded I must say. You get that sense of 'wow' - not the special effects 'wow', but like Jackie Chan 'wow' - that what you're seeing is a 'real' destruction.
The story itself does not disappoint too much either - all the elements of the film which made me hate the film before I even saw it actually turned out to be pleasant surprises - the hotty female TX, Nick Stahl, Clare Daines...they all deliver. (Except that shitty "SHE'LL BE BACK" bullshit line). The character development of Nick Stahl and Clare Daines was well done, I must say. The ending by the way was a great setup for T4 and possibly T5... [...]

[14.06.2003] Bei AICN gibt es eine recht positive Kritik zu "T3"...
I just snuck out of a T3 screening. This movie was great, but yes, there were some problems. [...]
One thing I hated about this movie was it's run time. It's way too short. I can't believe this movie was made with a sub 2 hour run time. What the hell were they thinking? This movie should have been 2 1/2 hours+. I guess we'll have to wait for the Extreme T3 DVD to come out!
All in all, Arnold is back and he definitely wants to make a T4! He didn't say anything to me, but it's so wide open for it, and I for one, definitely want to see a T4 get made.
The effects are incredible. That part you will not be disappointed with. Stan and ILM outdid themselves here. Those effects are worth the price of admission alone. [...]

A plane crash was cut from the new Terminator sequel, because of the September 11 terrorist attacks. Movie muscle-man Arnold Schwarzenegger returns to save the world in Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines. But the Austrian-born actor has confessed several violent scenes were left on the cutting room floor, after the 2001 attacks on New York, Washington DC and Pennsylvania. Arnie says, "A huge plane crash was rewritten because one, it was too close to 9/11 and two, it was too expensive."

[...] "I'd definitely say that there's an underlying sexual tension between the characters, mostly through some compromising positions in the fight scenes," reveals Loken, who reportedly beat out a host of actresses, from Famke Janssen to ex-WWF wrestler Chynna, to bag the role of Arnold Schwarzenegger's android foe in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. It seems reasonable to assume that the gorgeous, five-foot-eleven former model could figure out a way to get even a walk-in freezer hot under the collar. [...]

[...] Right now, the picture is locked. Yup, the film is done in terms of editing, way the hell in advance of its July 2nd opening date. The scoring sessions are going on, and the final effects are being delivered. The huge AMERICAN trailer is due on THE MATRIX RELOADED, will that be the one?
Apparently the biggest secret on the film thus far has been the last 20 minutes. They've kept it quiet because as Mostow, Brancato and Ferris have structured this... They didn't want you to know what was going to happen to the very last page, and they wanted those last 20 minutes to be harrowing as hell. DID THEY DO IT? [...]

'Satori' saw some clips from T3 this past weekend and talks a bit about one of the sequences:
"Nick Stahl and Claire Danes run into a large warehouse filled with usual "chase debris" (things that can be blown up later). They try to open a large blast door -- John starts to hack it with his little laptop. The wall at the far end explodes -- the T-X flies a chopper through the wall and crash-lands. She starts walking towards them, when Arnold crashes a BIGGER chopper through the wall and lands on her. She emerges, her skin melted away with just her endo-skeleton showing. That initiates the Arnold/T-X fight. I have to mention my disappointment with Arnold's end line... "You're terminated!" Couldn't they have come up with something... original???".

Vorsicht SPOILER !!!
[...] The Terminator then gave some fun new details to "T3: Rise of the Machines" as he practically acted out one key scene - the arrival. The Terminator arrives from the year 2029 and in his usual birthday suite attire, he is in search of clothing. The T-850 approaches a strip joint called "The Spot" and luckily for Arnold it happens to be "ladies night"! Since there are so many other semi-nude male dancers, the bodyguards out front think nothing to out-of-the-ordinary of the nude cyborg. The guard tells the Terminator to go around to the back entrance but it doesn't listen and slams him and then throws him through the air. Arnold enters nude through the front among dozens of screaming and adoring female admirers of his massive body and spectacular private section. The Terminator takes the clothes from one of the male dancers (possibly from the biker doing the YMCA? Just a thought). [...]

[...] Evidently, Skynet doesn’t just send Terminators back to one point in time in this film. Instead, they send them back to each of the timelines we’ve seen so far in an effort to find the exact right moment to kill John Connor. Sounds sort of like BACK TO THE FUTURE 2, where new scenes took place right alongside scenes from the first film. Mostow’s allegedly worked up a trip through the first two TERMINATOR films for parts of this one, turning the entire series inside out. [...]

[21.01.2003] U-Daily News sprach mit Regisseur Jonathan Mostow...
[...] Did the Mr. Universe of the movies mind getting beaten up like a girl? "Arnold thought it was a great idea,' Mostow says with a chuckle. "He knew, better than anybody, that watching this beautiful woman kick his a-- would be incredibly entertaining for the audience.'
The Austrian Oak was 54 when shooting began last spring and was just four months recovered from breaking six ribs in a motorcycle accident, so there was a bit of concern about what shape he'd be in.
"The physicality of this character goes hand in hand with who he is, so that was certainly one of the first thoughts that crossed my mind,' the director says. "But the first time I met Arnold, they were put to rest; he looked fantastic, and that was before he was in a big workout regimen. The Terminator arrives naked, and Arnold said to me, 'There's no greater motivator for working out than knowing you're going to be naked in a movie.' [...]

[11.01.2003] The Telegraph of Nashua hat Infos zur Bewaffnung des Terminators, die auf einer realen Waffe basiert...
[...] Part of the inspiration for the labs and equipment in the new Arnold Schwarzenegger movie, "Terminator 3 - Rise of the Machines," came from Kimball Physics.
Dr. Charles "Chuck" Crawford, founder of Kimball Physics, wasn’t sure how or where the set designers came across an electron gun manufactured by the company for NASA. But they had, and they wanted to put that ominous-looking gun in Schwarzenegger’s hands.
"They (the movie people) contacted us quite a while ago," Crawford said recently. "They wanted to lease a couple of our electron guns. We were concerned that if we sent them one, it would get damaged - they are quite expensive. If I’d thought, what we should have done was send them one with no insides."
Instead he sent them pictures and specs of the gun so the movie people could build a model. Crawford also sent photographs of the Kimball Physics labs.
One of the electron guns was sitting on a table in the conference room during an interview. It was a shiny, silvery, very futuristic-looking high-tech weapon about 4 feet long, looking like something straight out of the "Terminator" films.
"It looks dangerous because it is," Crawford said, explaining that this one was "a small one, only about 100,000 volts." [...]

[...] "It's a visual feast, this movie, from the beginning to the end... It ties together the other movies, an ongoing saga of the machines wanting to take over: the Rise of the Machines." [...]
"I think that the audience will really be blown away when they see the film," says Arnold, "and blown away by the T-X, the female Terminator, because she's an extraordinary-looking woman -- she's sexy, but at the same time she's a machine, so she plays up the sexy part when she needs to but quickly can snap back into the machine and be very destructive." [...]

No, there's no sex scene between Loken and Arnold Schwarzenegger, but T-X "plays on her femininity," says Loken of her first major role. She began modeling at 15 and got her acting start on As the World Turns in 1994. [...]

[08.12.2002] Die Calgary Sun sprach mit Claire Danes...
[...] Danes was a last-minute addition to Terminator 3.
"I got a call from my agent one night saying there was some trouble on the Terminator set, and could I step in the next day.
"I'd never done a film like this so it was a leap of faith."
The next night, Danes found herself lying on the ground surrounded by a sea of flames.
"I was just looking up when, all of a sudden, Arnold appeared in full Terminator gear. I hadn't been told he'd be in the scene so it was a huge surprise." [...]

[04.12.2002] Bei Music from the Movies gibt es Infos zum "Terminator 3: The Rise of the Machines" Soundtrack...
Marco Beltrami, the composer of the 'Scream' trilogy, has confirmed to Music from the Movies that he has been given one of next year's most prestigious scoring assignments: he will compose the music for Jonathan Mostow's much anticipated Terminator 3: The Rise of the Machines starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Beltrami also tells us that instead of using material from Brad Fiedel's original Terminator scores, including the near-classic theme, his ambition is to "try all my own material". According to our sources, Hans Zimmer was originally asked to score the film but turned the project down. [...]

[...] As the Yale coed quickly discovered, that was nothing compared to her first day on the T3 set. "I'm doing this scene at night with flames all around me," she recalls, "and I'm on the ground when Arnold [Schwarzenegger approaches] in his Terminator garb holding a machine gun. He's looking down on me and I'm thinking, 'This is not happening.' I was like, 'How do I react?' Thankfully, my character was in a similar position. She suddenly found herself in this alternative reality, as did I. So, it didn't require too much imagination."
Danes can't say the same about the rest of the CGI-heavy blockbuster, which hits theaters July 2, 2003. "I have no idea what the movie will ultimately look like, because I acted [opposite] a piece of yellow tape on a matte box throughout 70 percent of the film," she explains. "It was embarrassing, because I was making some pretty extreme facial expressions and screaming at the top of my lungs [while] acting to nothing." [...]

[21.11.2002] Bei SF Wire gibt es ein Interview mit Claire Danes...
"I play Kate Miller... She is a veterinarian who's engaged to a conservative, pleasing-to-the-folks kind of man. And she is abducted by the Terminator." [...]
A genre neophyte, Danes said that she's open to the idea of reprising her role as Kate Miller should T3 merit a T4. "Well, I've contracted to do one again," she said. "If audiences would like to see more of me doing this kind of thing, I'm obliged to give it to them. But I don't know if I'm going to make it a habit to pursue every other kind of movie franchise that's out there. I really love doing as many different kinds of work as possible."

What can we expect that we haven¹t seen before?
PH: Well, we are doing some really interesting visual doubling on the TX, on the female terminator and also on Arnold. And it's mainly for very safety concerns, stunt cinematography. We're also doing a lot of fluid simulation, which is basically we're taking the skin of the TX and making it into basically liquid metal, but peeling off and revealing a bunch of surprises. [...]
Is T4 in the works?
HL: There's some early discussion about it but there's nothing concrete. [...]

[26.09.2002] Bei CS! gibt es ein Interview mit Nick Stahl...

[17.08.2002] TheArnoldFans.com sprach mit Alana Curry über "T3"...
TAFs: Tell me a bit about your character. Who do you play?
Alana Curry: I play the girlfriend of Bill Anderson (played by Brian Sites). We're teenagers having a party & I can't really say what happens but we do have a bad encounter with the Terminatrix. You'll just have to see the movie to see what happens to us. [...]

Jonathan Mostow was there to introduce the footage and who else but Schwarzenegger himself walks out to join him. [...]
The Comic Con footage started off with a John Conner (Nick Stahl) narration over blackness and then over a dark road at night. I couldn't hear the first line or two over the crowd cheering, but I did pick up the bulk of what was said. "My name's John Conner. I live off the grid. No one, nothing, can find me. If we changed the future, why am I still running? If it's safe now, why am I hiding?" Over this we see a troubled and grizzly John Conner wandering around deserted areas. There're cutaways to a clean science lab. There's another editing jumble of fucked up shit/demolished areas, then we see Arnold climb out of a truck that's crashed into a crumbling cement pillar of some sort and is on fire. That publicity photo that was released from T3, the one with Arnold clad in leather, holding his gun, standing in front of a fiery truck... It came from that scene.
I only saw the footage once, so I don't remember the exact order in which all these other flashes came in, but we see more of the clean science labs, but with huge, shiny robotic warriors looking things. They aren't endoskeletons. They actually kinda reminded me of the new and improved Robinson family robot in the terrible LOST IN SPACE film. I haven't seen them in action, so I won't pass judgment until I see some footage of them actually doing shit, but the first image of them didn't kick my ass. You also see a full sized endoskeleton in one of these lab shots, with scientists playing around with it a bit. There's more damaged, dark areas. Then, a rubble heap from which a hand suddenly springs out of (I think it was the Lady Terminator, but I'm not sure).
There was also footage of Schwarzenegger walking between tombstones, huge casket over one shoulder, gun in his opposite hand. He gets fired upon, bullet hits all over his body and the casket. He nonchalantly turns around and fires his gun, an automatic weapon, back at whoever is shooting him. We also see Schwarzenegger sitting in a car, bazooka on his shoulder aimed out his window at an approaching car. He fires and the approaching vehicle goes up in flames. We see Arnold a bit injured, limping about, his face a bit bloody, showing a bit of his endoskeleton. Then we have the final line. Arnold, face bloody, some damage to the flesh and silver showing through... It's at least a medium close-up of him as we see he's dealing with some inner conflict, which I assume is that good terminator/bad terminator glitch that we've heard about already... the thing that's supposed to make him switch from good to bad to good and back again during the film. He says, "Desire is... irrelevant. I AM a machine!" [...]

[...] It starts out with a shot of a speeding motorcycle. There's a voiceover by the new young John Connor. The scene fades to him sitting on a bridge looking rather upset. There's then a barrage of action scenes, cars, and explosions. There next scene is from a cemetary where we see Arnold dressed in his Terminator outfit carrying a coffin on his right shoulder and shooting a shotgun in his other hand. The trailer ends with a shot of Arnie and you can see his Terminator skull. He then says the line: "Desire is irrelevant. I am a machine." It then flashes the logo and "July 2, 2003".
Then, to the surprise of the audience, Arnold Schwarzenegger strolled out and did a Q&A. A very cool surprise for the fans there.

[03.08.2002] E! Online meldet...
Although filming is winding down on T3, looky-loos at the heavily secured set will not find it by searching around L.A. for those all too familiar poster boards blaring T3 and an arrow. Production on the Ah-nuld-starring blockbuster relocated from Canada to L.A. to show its support for the unions, but costs may run close to $200 million. Anyhow, if you're still driving around looking for T3, here's a hint: Crafty director Jonathan Mostow has code-named his set York Square. The film opens July 2, 2003. Good luck.

[...] "The script is really solid," Stahl promised. "I think the main aim was to basically up the stakes from the last one and to make the newest one even more groundbreaking. Because the second one, really nothing like that had been done before. And so I think in order to match that kind of enthusiasm, they have to really try that much harder as far as the story and the actual filming goes.
"And the effects, you know, there's a lot of effects that are done these days that weren't available 10 years ago," he continued. "In that way, visually, it's gonna be more realistic. It's hard to know how it's going to turn out, ... but if the script says anything I would say that it's definitely as good, if not better, than the last one." [...]
The "transformation" fans really want to know about is whether or not Loken's "Terminatrix" is made of liquid metal.
"Yeah, she is," Stahl offered cautiously. "And she's got ... It's new and improved. But I don't think I could ... They won't let me say any more. It's very top secret stuff." [...]

[15.07.2002] CS! meldet...
Last week, a story originated from the National Enquirer stated that the T3: Rise of the Machines production had shut down because of the budget spiraling out of control. The tabloid stated, and even quoted, a source who said that the producers were worried because of a "car chase through central Los Angeles and involves hundreds of extras and location costs. Everybody was sent home while the writer, director and producers try to find a way to do the scene more cheaply."
We contacted Warner Bros. on this matter who provided us with an official statement which reassures that the story was completely fabricated...
A story about "T3: Rise of the Machines" that was filled with erroneous statements ran in the National Enquirer yesterday. The pertinent facts are as follows:
-The production is currently underway, on schedule and on budget.
-The footage that has been filmed looks excellent.
-Arnold Schwarzenegger and the rest of the cast and crew are currently working and there was no cessation of work on the set at any time. [...]

[10.07.2002] Bloody Disgusting sprach mit dem Special Effects Guru Stan Winston über "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines", "Jurassic Park 4", "Alien vs. Predator" und "Alien 5"...
1. Something is up with Linda Hamilton's footage, they are very, VERY tight lipped about what role the footage will play and seem to imply it's something surprising.
2. The new trailer, with actual footage from the movie will be hitting theater's within the next two months.
3. There were rumors floating around that their would possibly be a scene in which Arnold would run into another version of himself, and Stan Winston said very sharply, "That will NOT be happening."
4. What I got from him and his staff is that there is a good mix of scenes from the future with real time, lots of twists and turns. [...]

[03.07.2002] Coming Soon! meldet...
The Hollywood Reporter says that French game publisher Infogrames has bolstered its Hollywood video game lineup with game rights to the next two Terminator films.
Through a deal with C-2 Pictures and Intermedia, Infogrames will develop and distribute console and PC video games based the Arnold Schwarzenegger-starrer Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. The "T3" games are expected to ship in conjunction with the film's summer 2003 release.
Also, subject to certain conditions, Infogrames has secured the exclusive first option for interactive rights for Terminator 4. Infogrames, which has a Santa Monica studio, has the rights to the first two films as well through previous licensing deals.

[26.06.2002] LOE berichtet über einen Unfall am Set...
The latest news from one of our Hollywood tipsters comes from the set of the Jonathan Mostow film. While prepping to shoot a climactic sequence involving a crane-truck rigged to travel at high speed, the rehearsal went awry. The stuntman behind the wheel rolled the two-ton truck! Fortunately, no one was injured. The stuntman was reportedly NOT wearing his seatbelt, but was saved (possibly from death) by the fortified steel roll-cage on the vehicle, and walked away. The stunt unit is reportedly not shooting now while they search for a new crane to use.

[12.06.2002] Cinescape zitiert Effekt-Guru Stan Winston...
"Arnold’s is back. The Terminator is back. We’re back and we’re doing some things that are going to be pretty wonderful... Everything we’re doing is new. It’s far beyond what we’ve seen before... There is a new Terminator, a female. There are Terminators which are pre-Arnold [Schwarzenegger], there’s a lot to see. Jonathan Mostow is doing a wonderful job directing... Kristanna is wonderful. She’s scary, she’s intense, she’s perfect for the role... She’s brought a female version of what Robert Patrick brought to his role [as the T-1000] in TERMINATOR 2.... In TERMINATOR we pretended to create a robot... In TERMINATOR 3 we really have."

Even though it says Sarah Connor on it, she's supposed to be inside that coffin because she died a few years ago, but now I'm taking it away, then throwing it in one of these hearse cars and then drive off. According to Variety, Claire Danes has replaced Sophia Bush in a pivotal role in "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines."
The trade says that Danes started work Sunday, taking over as the romantic interest of John Conner (Nick Stahl), who is now in his 20s and once again partnered with his muscular cyborg pal (Arnold Schwarzenegger) while trying to elude a more advanced TX model robot (Kristanna Loken) bent on terminating him to change the future.
Apparantly Mostow felt that newcomer Bush seemed a bit young for the part. Danes, whose deal was quickly, is 23. "This was a difficult decision because Sophia is a talented and charismatic performer," said Mostow. "However, we feel, after reviewing the dailies, that her appearance and manner play younger than what we wanted for the role. We look forward to working with Sophia on future projects."

[04.05.2002] Dark Horizons meldet...
Michael Biehn is in Capetown working on a film and in a talk with CCFM apparently indicated he's got a cameo in T3. When asked "Didn't Your Character Die?" He supposedly replied "you go away, you think about it...and you'll realize there's a place for Kyle Reese in this movie. As minute as it will be".

Is this the kind of role that demands abs of steel?
I'm not quite there yet, but for the first few weeks of filming I have very few scenes, so that buys me some time to get in better shape. I like physical roles like this since I need excuses to work out; I haven't the willpower to do it on my own.
Did they let you read the top-secret script before you auditioned?
The first time I did a screen test, I had to come to them, go into a room, and sign all these documents before I could even look at it. And they only let me read the first two acts. Don't ask me anything about it, because if I tell you, someone will come to my house and kill me.
How difficult was it stepping into a role created by another actor?
I haven't talked to Edward Furlong. The fact is, it's been 10 years since the last movie, and people change, so it's like creating a new character. I think audiences love these movies so much they'll give me the benefit of the doubt.

[...] Seems that there's some kinda animal hospital and equipment rental buildings that are gonna get blown up. I managed to catch a glimpse of the Terminatrix. She's pretty damn hot. She was ripping the door off a light duty truck. She is dressed in this tight, I mean tight-ass brownish leather outfit. Man is she hot! She was also tossing this guy around. The cable work looks pretty cool.
There was a brand new Lexus sitting out front too. What I saw last night was awesome. They had a dummy version of the Terminatrix strapped on the hood of this other type of truck. Like if she just got run over and is trying to get whoever's inside. The pyro guys strapped all kinds of explosives to the truck, as well as a mock propane tank. After tons of prep work, and all kinds of safety checks. The truck ran full tilt into the propane tank, and blew-up! The brand new Lexus went bye-bye. [...]

Columnists Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith spoke to Nick Stahl ("In the Bedroom") about the audition process for the role of an older John Connor in "T3: Rise of the Machines.
Stahl says he was one of many, many to audition for the film. According to him, producers of the film initially would not even allow candidates for his part do their readings from the script; they were asked to deliver monologues instead.
"It was a long audition process," says Nick, who is currently in physical training for the role. He says that the film will keep him busy for six months.

[05.04.2002] Hollywood Reporter meldet...
Actress Sophia Bush -- appearing in "National Lampoon's Van Wilder," which opens today via Artisan Entertainment -- has nabbed one of the two female lead roles in the Arnold Schwarzenegger starrer "T3: Rise of the Machines" for C-2 Pictures/Intermedia and director Jonathan Mostow. The 19-year-old Bush, crowned the 2000 Tournament of Roses queen, will star opposite Nick Stahl ("In the Bedroom") as Kate Miller, a young, athletic professional in the medical field. The story line of the project picks up 10 years after "Terminator 2: Judgment Day," and follows John Connor (Stahl) as he reteams with his cyborg protector (Schwarzenegger) to battle the latest Terminator, the indestructible T-X, played by newcomer Kristanna Loken (ABC's "Philly").

[08.03.2002] Hollywood Reporter meldet...
C-2 Pictures and Intermedia left the most important announcement for last when they revealed Thursday that Stan Winston will reprise his role as animatronic and makeup effects supervisor on "T3: Rise of the Machines." "I'm incredibly excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with a legend like Stan as well as his amazing team," director Jonathan Mostow said. "It's one of the tremendous perks of working on this franchise." Perky is the operative word. "T3's" new female terminator, T-X, will be played by relatively unknown TV actress Kristanna Loken. Arnold Schwarzenegger has publicly remarked that "T3's" Terminatrix will have even more advanced powers -- including control over machines and the ability to disappear -- than the T-800 robot in "The Terminator" and the liquid metal T-1000 for "Terminator 2: Judgment Day." Winston earned makeup and visual effects Oscars for "T2" as well as a BAFTA Award for best achievement in visual effects. He received an Oscar nomination this year for his animatronic work in "A.I. Artificial Intelligence."

Arnold Schwarzenegger is taking a massive $8.4 million pay cut - so Terminator 3 can be filmed in his home town of Los Angeles. Arnie's action is thought to be linked to his long-rumored plan to run for Governor of California in 2006. While it has become common for American films to shoot in Canada due to attractive tax breaks - causing a major drop in films being made in Hollywood in the last 12 months - Arnie is thought to be trying to curry favour with his potential voters. The 55-year-old will still pick up a pay packet of $31 million for three months work on the third in the series of hit science fiction films.

Kristanna Loken has nabbed the coveted female lead role in Warner Bros./Intermedia Films' feature "T3: Rise of the Machines," marking the first studio film for the actress. [...] The project will see Loken play T-X, the latest and most indestructible Terminator ever created. "T3" will be produced by C-2 Pictures' Mario Kassar, Andy Vajna and Joel Michaels along with Hal Lieberman and Colin Wilson. Intermedia co-chairmen Moritz Borman, Nigel Sinclair and Guy East are executive producing. Loken was recently on the short-lived Dick Wolf series "D.C." for the WB Network and plays a recurring character on the ABC series "Philly." The actress, repped by Endeavor and James Levy Jacobson, has been a series regular on such shows as "Mortal Kombat: Conquest" and "Pensacola: Wings of Gold."

[19.02.2002] Coming Soon! weiss mehr über die Dreharbeiten...
[...] the mega-budget project will shoot entirely in Los Angeles, with interiors shot at L.A. Center Studios and exteriors shot in various locations throughout the city.
The approximately 100-day shoot for "T3" was originally divided between Vancouver and Los Angeles, with 60% in Canada. But director Jonathan Mostow cringed at the idea of having to split his time between countries for the demanding shoot -- not to mention facing the attendant continuity headaches. Adjustments were made both above and below the line to make the American dollar stretch almost as far as Canada's.
With filming scheduled to start on April 15th, be sure to keep your eyes open for any filming if you're in the L.A. area!

[...] B.C. film commissioner Lindsay Allen confirmed to the Sun yesterday that the $160-million US Terminator 3 had pulled out of Vancouver, where it was supposed to film in April.
"The location manager has told us it's staying in Los Angeles," Allen said.
The rumoured reason for the sudden and costly move is that Schwarzenegger fears shooting a film in Canada -- a so-called "runaway production" -- would hurt his chances at becoming governor of California. [...]
"Runaway productions" are notoriously unpopular in California, with film industry workers furious that film and TV projects go north to save money.
Allen estimates that filming a movie in Canada is 25 to 30% cheaper than shooting in L.A.
To keep the T3 budget from spiralling north of $200 million US, Schwarzenegger is reportedly forfeiting at least part of his $30-million US salary. [...]

Arnold Schwarzenegger is in such good shape he weighs exactly the same as he did when he last donned the Terminator jacket 12 years ago. The movie star has wowed producers of the planned Terminator 3 movie by revealing age hasn't changed him - he still weighs in at 220lbs. And his heart surgery to replace a defective valve four years ago, and a recent dance with death in a motorbike crash, which left him with broken ribs and a punctured lung, isn't going to stop him taking on action demands. He says, "I will try to be in as close to the shape I was in for the other movies. I don't want people to say, `Wait a minute, oh, it's 12 years later, so he's not as fit now. I don't want to go through the normal stages you see in medical books: Here's the young kid, here's 30, here's 40, and now begins the slouching, the deteriorating. I want to fight that. I want to be able to ski like I did when I was 20. I don't want to succumb to this mind-set of, `I'm 50 now, so I can't expect the same things.'"

Here's a big scoop! After I asked Lance Henriksen If his detective character was considered permanently terminated or could we hope for a return in Terminator 3, he told me we may see Vukovich possibly return. As James Cameron had helped as an additional writer to the T3 script, Henriksen informed me Cameron was toying around with the idea of having detective Vukovich return in a wheelchair with some battle damage. As we never do see detective Vukovich die, but only rather an implied death, many Henriksen fans would love to see a return.
Lance also told me he was not upset when I asked him "if he was devastated when he heard he was going to be replaced by Arnold to play The Terminator." As we have all have heard countless times in the past of Henriksen's original involvement to play the original CSM-101, now he tells me he was not all all crushed. Because his relationship with Jim Cameron goes way back, Cameron just wanted to do the sketches of Lance as a Terminator and to have the cyborg with "a look" like Henriksen. Lance claims he was really never seriously considered to play the part of the Terminator...unlike OJ Simpson.

I'm a big fan of hers I hope she comes in for an interview. Is she coming in for an interview? The question is now "do we go?" Its being debated right now and it’s a very interesting debate. Do we go with a woman that is petite, that is young that looks innocent and that looks like a very ordinary beautiful girl and then create a certain drama when she walks innocently to the woman in a car on Beverly Blvd or Rodeo Dr and Crack! (acting like she breaks her neck, big outburst of laughter) kills her. "Jesus Christ I thought this girl was nice. Or should it be CHYNA. Should it be a woman that appears to be right away you know "THIS IS SOOOOO... THIS IS THE FEMALE TERMINATOR" (again everyone laughs) and appears to everyone you know what to expect after dead bodies are flying around. So I don’t know what the answer is. But that is the BIG debate. Especially it came about when I suggested CHYNA and the director (Jonathan Mostow) said, "That's a great concept". Its funny because after me talking to him about CHYNA for months now all of a sudden one day a Limo drove by us and we were just about to go for lunch and Andy Vajna (Producer) and Mostow were sitting in the car and the limo rolls down the window and all of a sudden this women sticks out her head with this big straw hat on. She starts waving at us, then I said, "THIS IS CHYNA, THIS IS THE GIRL" so we roll down the window. This is like a week ago in Los Angeles, so I said "here is the Director, here is the producer are you going to come to an interview?" she said "great" I said to her "Were are you coming from?" she said "FROM THE PLAYBOY MANSION" (everyone starts laughing). I have now idea what she was doing at the PLAYBOY mansion, don't ask me. But I mean she's been on the cover twice you know. I've never seen anybody twice in the cover of PLAYBOY. She must have special talent? (an outburst of laughter from everyone).

I think it's a brilliant script. The next terminator will be a woman and she is the main villain. I play both good and bad. Sometimes I'm the villain and other times I'm the guy who can potentially save the kid and the world. The plot goes back and forth; it's a great suspense story. Right now they are in the process of casting it and it will begin shooting on April 15th. The first two months we will be in Los Angeles and the rest of the time in Vancouver.
I actually look forward to it. The technology has changed so much now, that there are a lot of things that we will be able to do with special effects that we were not able to do in Terminator 2. I'm really looking forward to those new ways of entertaining people.

Arnold Schwarzenegger: "I can't talk about it. We star filming on April 15. We will be shooting that partially here in Los Angeles and partially in Vancouver. We will be finished probably end of September. So there will be a lot of visual effects and special effects shot afterwards in post-production. It will come out the following year, 2003, July 4th weekend. I play the Terminator. What you expect, right? The only thing is that there is a female Terminator also involved in this one. She has extraordinary powers, including like having an effect on machines. Since I'm a machine, you never know when I turn into a bad Terminator that is willing to take out and destroy anything, or sometimes saving the world. That's part of the suspense. That's really all I can say. I don't want to go into detail. But it is a really fantastic script, and challenging -- challenging. And so we have an extraordinary crew."

Arnold: "Linda Hamilton is coming back but she is coming back as the past experience Linda Hamilton, she's not like driving the current story forward."
LR: So she will be in the movie?
Arnold: "She is in the movie as flash backs, but they felt like they didn't want the exact same cast and be limited with the story, but take certain people out. Let's just assume that she died already and he (John Connor) is on his own rather than his mother whining away (Laughing) They felt like you know John Connor is 22-23 years old his mother died and his is alone and lets move on."
LR: Is there any news about the casting of John Connor?
Arnold: "No, not yet."
LR: Is there anybody that you would like to see play John Connor?
Arnold: "We are going to start looking at pictures real soon."

Besides there already being a female Terminator, he said that his Terminator will be glitched. It will switch sides throughout the film, sometimes controlled by the machines and sometimes controlled by the humans.

[14.01.2002] 13th Street meldet...
[...] The plan is to begin shooting the $170 million dollar sequel in April in Los Angeles and film for eight weeks. Then in the summer, the T3 production will shift locales and fly to Vancouver, Canada to film for 14 weeks. Why the switch in cities? Another one of our spies may have figured that part out: according to them, one possibility for the Canadian location is to film exterior scenes in a mountainous region outside of Vancouver's urban sprawl. But for what scenes? [...]

Oscar-winner for visuals in "Terminator 2: Judgement Day," San Franciso-based Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) will create the special effects for "Terminator 3: The Rise of the Machines," Variety reports.
The studio is expected to create more than 300 shots for the new installment, scheduled to start principal photography in April.
"Terminator 3" joins several other high-profile projects for which ILM is creating visuals. Its already busy slate includes "Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones", "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets", "Minority Report", "Dreamcatcher", "Men in Black 2" and "The Hulk".

[03.01.2002] Coming Soon! meldet...
Variety reports that in exchange for Intermedia's $70 million asking price for international rights, Sony's Columbia TriStar Film Distributors Intl. is understood to be taking nearly all of the $170 million-budgeted "Terminator 3: The Rise of the Machines'" international territories save Japan and Korea, rights that producers Mario Kassar and Andy Vajna sold to Toho-Towa years ago. (Sony is forgoing some Eastern European territories, including Croatia, Hungary and Romania.)
"Put me down as a yes for 'excited' and 'believes it's a great asset to have,'" Jeff Blake said, who is Columbia's president of worldwide distribution and marketing, adding, "We're definitely going to be (releasing) day-and-date worldwide next year," in an effort to defray marketing costs on the pricey pic.
Meanwhile, Warner Bros. last month acquired domestic distribution rights to "T3," and studio brass said they will release it over the Fourth of July holiday weekend in 2003. Col, like Warners, has right of first refusal on the financing of any "T4" follow-up. [...]

[02.01.2002] EW.com lüftet einige "T3"-Geheimnisse...
[...] Long-running rumors of a female Terminator are true: She will be ''sexy, beautiful, composed and lethal,'' according to the movie's casting call. And ''T3'''s producers say they're looking for a performer of ''any ethnicity or nationality,'' as long as she's in fighting shape and between the ages of 20 and 30 -- a category that could encompass anyone from Lucy Liu or Jessica Alba to ''Mission Impossible 2'''s Thandie Newton. The character will have powers that dwarf even those of ''Terminator 2: Judgement Day'''s morphing T-1000. ''She can disappear, she can mold into someone else, and she is sometimes just an energy,'' Schwarzenegger earlier told the New York Post.

[18.12.2001] Dark Horizons weiss mehr über die Darsteller...
Warners has just sent out a casting breakdown for major roles in the upcoming "Terminator" sequel which doesn't list either Arnie's character or a rumoured 'male' terminator, the rest are described below and the notice sent to me does confirm rumours that Edward Furlong is now out of the picture:
John Connor: The character is now in his early 20's, a haunted and reluctant hero not trusting that everything has been set right.
Kate: Same age as John, a medical professional of some kind that's warm, physical and smart - one who can hold her own with the guys
T-X-: Female in her 20's, the new Terminator whose sexy, composed and deadly. Actress requires demonstratable athletic skill. No details as to the character itself or its capabilities
Brewster: A scientific-background military man in his 40's/50's - a thoughtful, strong leader who has earned the respect of those around him.
Scott: Mid-20s/Early-30s young man with good looks, charm and attempting to make a stable future for him and his fiancee

According to Marilyn Beck and Stacy Jenel Smith, Edward Furlong will not be making "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" after all.
The 24-year-old actor, who played John Connor in the blockbuster "T2," was reportedly all set to reprise his role in the Arnold Schwarzenegger feature that's supposed to go into production in the spring. However, casting for Furlong's replacement apparently begins next week.
The columnists say that the decision was made due to the trouble the young actor has been in lately, from a stint at the Promises rehab center last year to a possible overdose after a night of partying and getting busted for driving under the influence as well.

[11.12.2001] Blickpunkt:Film meldet...

US-Dollar fuer seinen Auftritt in "Terminator 3" erhalten!

"Apparently the studio wants to shoot in an underground facility owned by the Metropolitan Water District in Southern California. They are essentially long corridors dimly lit, lots of concrete, you get the picture. Last I heard they had narrowed the location to two plants".

[04.12.2001] filmecke.net berichtet...

US-Dollar !!!
The third installment of "Terminator 3" has a script ready to be shot, Arnold Schwarzenegger ready to reprise his cyborg role and Jonathan Mostow ready to direct him, reports Variety. The film's producers and the financiers at Intermedia spent Monday ironing out details for a spring or summer 2002 start. The pricetag for the feature could reach a hefty $160 million, adds the trade.
It's almost a certainty the cost will surpass the $135 million which made "Pearl Harbor" the most expensive greenlight to date. Intermedia has the resources to fully finance the film itself, but the expectation is it will partner to share the risk. Universal and Sony are said to be among three vying for the film.

"I read the script and it didn't take my character in any new direction... The film is really about turning the baton over to Sarah's son John played by Eddie Furlong. It's Eddi's movie - and Arnold's. It was like a no-win situation for me."

[14.04.2001] MHN berichtet... Die Dreharbeiten beginnen voraussichtlich Ende Oktober 2001 in Montreal (Kanada)...

[27.03.2001] Reuters berichtet... Jonathan Mostow (u.a. "U-571") wird voraussichtlich die Regie in "T3" übernehmen...
"Mostow had several strong meetings with Schwarzenegger and seems an inspired choice, although sources said final deal terms have to be ironed out. It's a daunting task to succeed James Cameron after two Terminators, considered science fiction classics."

[07.03.2001] Reuters berichtet...

"T3 has also been pushed back, though this too is good as a director hasn't been signed. John McTiernan is still very much interested, though post production is very much his thing on "Rollerball". we reckon the strike won't last long at all and are looking at a july start.
T4: waiting on arnold's yes/no agreement. it can be done without him, though nobody wants that. It could feature lots of the guy too in a proper role, a real character I mean. Some ideas are going around that the Terminator was based on a rebel soldier."

Dollar !!!)
