Terminator "Terminator" (1984) ist einfach kultig !!! Augen- und ohrenbetäubende Effekte und Action-Szenen... Und Arnold Schwarzenegger (u.a.

Anton Yelchin (u.a. J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek") als Kyle Reese, Bryce Dallas Howard (u.a. "Spider-Man 3") als Kate Connor, Moon Bloodgood (u.a. "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li") als Blair Williams, Common als Barnes und Helena Bonham Carter (u.a. "Harry Potter") als Serena...

"Terminator" kommt wieder...

[20.05.2011] CS! meldet...
In light of recent events, actor and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has announced that, at least temporarily, he will not be moving forward with any of his announced acting projects.
"Governor Schwarzenegger is focusing on personal matters," said a representative in an official statement, "and is not willing to commit to any production schedules or timelines. This includes 'Cry Macho,' The 'Terminator' franchise and other projects under consideration. We will resume discussions when Governor Schwarzenegger decides."
The fifth Terminator film would have been helmed by Fast Five's Justin Lin. [...]

[15.05.2011] Deadline meldet...
Megan Ellison has won an auction for the rights to make at least two more installments of The Terminator franchise, with Fast Five's Justin Lin attached to direct and Arnold Schwarzenegger attached to star. The deal came down to Ellison's Annapurna Films and Lionsgate, which seemed to have had the project sewn up until she came forward with a dramatic bid. The auction at the time was for a guarantee for at least half of the $29.5 million paid by hedge fund Pacificor to pull the franchise out of bankruptcy. Unclear what the winning amount was, but I wouldn't be surprised if it hit the $20 million mark. CAA brokered the deal. [...]
I will update more information on Terminator as it comes in, and find out whether CAA plans to shop offshore rights to the franchise here. The expectation is the Skynet storyline will be wrapped up in two features. Ellison made her bid without a domestic distributor attached, so conceivably that project could become about the hottest title in the sales market here.

With the tremendous success of Fast Five still pulling in a fortune at the box office, director Justin Lin has his sights set on his next blockbuster franchise. Lin spoke with MTV News about the recent confirmation that he will direct a fifth Terminator film alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger.
"Everything has just been between me and Arnold, you know?" says Lin in response to rumors that other former actors could return to the franchise, "Just us going out and trying to find the right partners. I have certain elements, but it's never been about, 'Hey, let's bring everybody back!' I just don't process that way."
Though he's light on details, Lin and Schwarzenegger are said to have a clear direction they'd like to take a fifth feature in and it could very well be one that ignores the continuity of the past two films, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and Terminator Salvation (not to mention the television series "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles").
"I always feel like what's great about the 'Terminator' franchise is that there's time-travel and there are different timelines to play with," Lin explains, "There are also a lot of gaps from what we love about all of the 'Terminator' movies, so there's a lot of things we can do and play with... ['Terminator'] does have that capability, finding fresh ways of going back without destroying other [movies], because you can tell your own stories."
There is currently no definitive timeframe for the potential fifth film, but Lin suggests that things could be solidifying in a matter of weeks.

[16.02.2011] Deadline meldet...
Shortly after Arnold Schwarzenegger left the Governor’s Mansion and Tweeted his desire to resume his acting career, there seems to finally be some action on his signature franchise, The Terminator. I’m told that interest is kicking back up. One interested party: Universal, which is looking for a directing vehicle for Justin Lin. He helmed the last three installments of The Fast and the Furious franchise, including the latest Fast Five, which Universal releases April 29. I’ve heard that the plan would be to possibly pair him with Chris Morgan, who aside from Fast Five has credits on big scale Universal films that include the upcoming Keanu Reeves actioner 47 Ronin and Wanted.
Since being acquired in bankruptcy court last February by Santa Monica-based hedge fund Pacificor for $29.5 million, The Terminator has maintained radio silence, surprising given the voracious studio appetite for branded tent pole projects that lend themselves to 3D technology. Part of the reason was the subpar results of the last film, but also the bankruptcy auction which left the two most likely distributors, Sony Pictures and Lionsgate, walking away in disgust. Pacificor, one of the debt holders that forced Halcyon partners Victor Kubicek and Derek Anderson into bankruptcy, was the surprise winner, bidding close to the $30 million that Kubicek and Anderson paid to acquire the rights back in 2007 from producers Andy Vajna and Mario Kassar.
While the bankruptcy approval left open the prospect of an exclusive negotiation for Sony Pictures and Lionsgate for distribution rights, those distributors walked away from the table. Before the bankruptcy happened, McG had been expected to continue the apocalyptic storyline he started with the Christian Bale-Sam Worthington pic Terminator Salvation, but that attachment ended with the bankruptcy. Right around the time the bankruptcy was settled, Deadline also reported that William Wisher--James Cameron's collaborator on Terminator 2 and an uncredited co-writer on the original, wrote a 24-page treatment for the next film and a four-page concept outline for a sixth Terminator film. His version continued the post-apocalyptic battleground scenario from Terminator Salvation, but added in the element of time travel. It will be most interesting to see what shape this franchise takes.

Darf Hannover House "Terminator 3000" realisieren !?! Wird Pacifor zustimmen !?! Man wird sehen...
Hannover House's Eric Parkinson said that he just got his cease and desist letter, and then told Pacificor's attorneys of his proprietary rights position, and the fact that he's got backers in place to make a movie and deliver a big rights fee to Pacificor. "We've arranged a meeting, we'll show them our money and if the rational brain prevails, they'll take the deal. If not, I can't do it without them. You'll have a followup next week that we are either holding hands, or not doing the film. At least we now have our meeting. I hope they will can think outside the box, because if we can make a movie that delivers a $20 million to $30 million rights payment, that is an income source they didn't realize was possible. If not, it was a good idea anyway." [...]

[13.08.2010] CS! meldet...
Hannover House, the entertainment distribution division of Target Development Group, Inc., has entered into a feature film development venture with Vancouver-based Red Bear Entertainment, for Terminator 3000, envisioned as a $70-million dollar budgeted, 3D animated feature film based on the characters and situations introduced in the original Terminator feature. Hannover House C.E.O. Eric Parkinson previously served as C.E.O. of Hemdale Home Video, Inc. and Hemdale Communications, Inc., and handled the distribution of the original Terminator feature.
Story details for Terminator 3000 are being kept under close wraps, but the writers and production team have a stated goal of minimizing violence in order to obtain a PG-13 level of material.
Hemdale produced and distributed director James Cameron's original Terminator feature, but released the sequel rights in 1990 to Carolco, which later transferred the rights to ultimately end up under the control of Halcyon Media. Santa Barbara based Pacificor, LLC prevailed in the most recent auction and transfer of rights to the franchise in January, and retains approval and licensing authority over the proposed Terminator 3000 project.
Hannover House and Red Bear Entertainment will release details of the production timing, financing and principal production personnel later this year, in advance of a proposed January, 2011 start.

Included are rights to exploit the property for film, television, merchandise and multiplayer online games. In addition, WME has been retained to assist the Santa Barbara hedge fund in selecting and retaining key talent for the next sequel in the "Terminator" series. [...]
